It could also be argued that Anglo-Saxons expose chuckers at school level and throw them out of cricket, while Murali wore a sling in the ICC labs so that he could stay at 14.99999999 degrees flexion, and then took the sling off in live matches so he could chuck the doosras with immunity from the umps.

:)

And it can be argued that the Home Office bended the rules to fast track the imports as naturalised citizens :)

P.S. it has known to happen for Home Office to fast track (not necessarily in cricket)

Only surprise was that he made 52 under pressure.

Hope Morgan gets a few.

Lady dont engage your lil mind in issues you dont understand ;-)

If someones wants to play for England let them play what's the big deal . Nish_mate even Nasser Hussein was born in the same country you were born. People could argue he was born in india he should play for India . All these things come up. Just because players like trott are performing well. Many people don't like someone rising

Sad to see Cook milking ordinary bowlers. He was a major flop last year against :asif and :amir

He was in the worst form of his life so scoring a ton which started a run of 1000 runs in the next 7 tests is far from a major flop.

Again we see Pakistan fans struggling with the concept of relativity due to their own team's checkered history.

If I can remember Cook scored that ton off the back of like 4 or 5 dropped catches and bare edges which didn't carry or were wide of the slips.

Saajidrox was Nasser a product or England set up or the Indian cricket set up?

Trott learnt his trade in SA and then moved.

As i state above i have no issues with Strauss/Prior and others born overseas as they are products of the England cricket set up.

Indeed the UK immigration policy only became a problem when England became a top side.

In the case of Zola Budd in 1984, sure. That was well dodgy, and the Hate Mail's trumpetting of her was sickening.

But Lamb, Hick, KP and the rest were not fast-tracked - they had to play county cricket for years before England selection.

oh yeah that cricket match.

as long as Cook reaches three figures we should get to 350 which will be competitive.

I would consider hijacking an England match thread with constant England-related moans to be trolling.

In a match thread we usually just discuss the match and save tangents for elsewhere.

Fine ENGLAND took Trott from SA :p and SA took tahir from Pakistan even and fair

i dont see any South Africans crying over that trott is playing for England and not Many PP users crying over Tahir . Most of the PPers were happy that tahir was performing for SA and he was part of the Pak setup.

exactly i just came in to check if there was any swing in the morning we got three wickets And i was treated with some off topic post in this trhead

Was there swing whippy? We got some new bowler who are not much experienced with these conditions

Whippy i just posted what i think was relevant.

Anyways apologies if you think i have highjacked it. Wont post about Saffers anymore here....

The KP and Bell dismissals featured a tiny bit of swing. Fernando also nearly got Bell earlier with a 90mph out-swinging yorker, a real anomaly.

Meanwhile, Strauss and Trott missed straight ones.

Still can't envisage losing 20 wickets to Sri Lanka but I could be wrong.

This game is too boring Whippy.

Yeah a bit nothingy. Morgan is playing nicely though and I have one monitor with cricket, one with Roland Garros, so not too bad.

Averages of England bastmen against :asif & :amir last year

Strauss 25

Cook 23

Pieterson 23

Morgan 29

Collingwood 19

he usually/always only gets a ton or a 70 when someone else gets a ton or a 70. He's never going to be the sort of player that gets 129 out of 235 and England win the test, like KP did in New Zealand.

Hmmm dunno - Bell got us out of a hole in tha Ashes '09 decider, batting at #3 and again in SA. Even Warney has upgraded him from Shermanator to Terminator.

very bowler-friendly summer that featured lots of good bowlers.

still won 3-1 very easily.

Morgan needs to play well in this test just to keep Ravi away
i fear that Ravi might Peek in with KP's current form Ravi might come in for KP. Ravi can bowl a bit too and also selectors might have a soft spot for him because he ignored the IPL too ,but i don't think Selectors in ECB will drop him like the other boards they even gave Cook a run with bad form (with all the talk about dropping him before the ashes) and look how he is performing well now.

thats including the chances they get coz of kakmal, farhat and buttah. atleast 2 chances for everyone so you can decrease these averages furthur as well

Well it was Colly's legendary 40 off 200 balls and neutering of Steyn that really got us out of SA. I rate that innings as something a bit special. Bell played nicely but still couldn't resist making a parody of himself by meekly getting out at slip yet again, and right at the end to boot!

Ashes 09 - again he played nicely but got out on 70, and 114-1 isn't the toughest platform.

His best innings is still 115 at Faisalabad 05 for me.

The last summer was good display of some good swing bowling and it would have been more better if Pak had batted well throughout would have been some tight matches but the controversy to follow was a bad one.

this is all so relevant given it was one of the easiest series wins we've achieved in years.

I'm not really one for ifs and butts but if we had Younis and Yousuf in England we would've won that series. Bit rich to call it easy to be honest, there were stages in the Lords Test where England were in a real losing position ... we just could not bat.

I doubt it was the easiest, your batsman were put through tough times by world class bowling. Pathetic fielding, shoddy batting and crap selection along with the inevitable biased umpiring (I can recall atleast 10 decisions not going our way in the ODI Series, which we would of won) was the reason we didn't do as well on the England Tour.

yeah stick to not doing ifs and buts. lost by 250 runs, 9 wickets and an innings and 225 runs. we removed Yousuf for nothing at Lord's in both innings. an absolute canter of a series.

how about just could not bowl when it mattered? allowing Broad to score a chanceless 160 is pretty embarrassing.

:asif[UTUBE]lZpNZmlSOmo[/UTUBE] :amir

This video seriously makes me feel sick to my stomach. Imagine what could have been with Amir and Asif. It's like giving you the best tasting lollipop in existence for 5 seconds and then snatching it away forever.

MoYo was brought in too late. YK and Ijaz Butt controversies kept YK away ,Malik was terrible against the Aussies before the England test he was just brought in as a replacement for Afridi. Malik really needed some time to settle in which PCB does not allow

Matt Prior and Broads Partnership cost the game

Dilshan in to ball

So frustrating to see these English batsmen piling on runs against poor minnow attack. Last year was their test and all of them except Trott failed miserably.

Players emerging from the historic Long Room, running down the steps and on to the pitch now.

SL need to get Cook out, it would be a very good day for them if they pick up a cluster of wickets this session.

A quick wicket here and Lanka could be in with a chance of bowling out England today on a featherbed of a track.

KP needs to be dropped if he fails in the second innings, it's unfair on players like Bopara.

So in other words, the England team played better than Pakistan?

Cook makes test match batting look so ridiculously easy, he doesn't even seem to be playing that well.

Apparently he has this weird physiological advantage in that he hardly sweats, and that's why he is the ball shiner. Staying dry must help so much when playing an innings of any substance.

uhhh. out on 96. words can't describe how bad that shot was, in the context of his innings, his career, getting on the honours board and this match!

Cook out trying to be :viv

A good chance for Lanka, Prior isn't the best batsmen around.

200-5 on this deck is poor.

guys, when dilshan was bowling round the wicket,i thought it looked as if the ball might start keeping low on day 4 itself !!!

5 bad shots all day and 5 wickets. Should have been aiming for 200/2 on this deck.

Still don't think it matters that much - Sri Lanka are that bad like.

Another 6 and 4 to Morgan, 49* (82)

Played pretty well today. Love his willingness to take the opposition on, reminds me of a young Pietersen :(

Superb shots from Morgan v Dilshan. Dilshan needs a rest with a new batsmen in.

Not good for getting substances on the ball though e.g. Murray Mints.

Disappointed Bell didn't strike a hundred, but made a good fifty and the ball that got him out was goodish

Cook did well, but played as boring as he always does

Morgan's innings is very entertaining, hope he makes his second hundred

I just noticed that most of the bowlers are going for more than 4 an over!

It's a beautiful batting track with a fast outfield.

26 overs to go. If Lanka can get a 2 more wickets it will be their day by far.

Full and straight to Prior could do the trick but Morgan is looking very good out there.
