Excellent interview. Didn't criticize a single player from Pakistan, instead it was all about how Pakistan can improve. So refreshing compared to our pundits who have nothing better to do but talk about players.

A famous quote fits perfectly:

"Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people"

Jason if you are reading this I must say thanks for giving so much time and effort to improve Pakistan cricket surely you were not perfect and made few mistakes in the beginning but your intentions were good and willing to work on the mistakes and most importantly supported your boys unfortunately you were too professional for this circus called PCB and had to bear the consequences.

I know you will most likely never be part of this circus again but if things do change at the top please think about working with Pakistan cricket again it’s guys like you and Gary who can take us forward in the long run and compete against the best otherwise our cricket is finished with low IQ individuals like Aqib, Saqlain etc

Didn’t understand that players are worried for their places ? They have been stick around for 4/5 years and only the coaches and staff keep getting changed.

Agree, do not agree with the ''players are worried for their places''
Seemed like he was very formal in his answers, maybe that is what he agreed with PCB when ending his contract.

The core of this team for a good 3 / 4 years is:

Fakhar, Babar, Rizwan, Shadab, Shaheen, Haris, Naseem etc.. they have been playing non stop. that is like 6 or 7 players who are guaranteed starters. Fact is they do not care about improving their game and have pathetic fitness levels.

only some players have stuck around - look at the players he was talking about, Muqeem, Niazi etc. They are out of the door in the blink of an eye.

Political selection is the major reason for our poor performances in CT. Things set well for Pakistan in ODIs before this tournament. We won odi series against Australia in Australia & also whitewashed SA in their homeland

Generally very good points, but the bit about protecting players as they end up playing for themselves is sending out the wrong message if it’s meant for the senior players. It makes sense for the new players absolutely. The likes of irfan Niazi, Sufyan, Qasim, Saim Ayub. But this should not apply to the likes of Babar, Rizwan, Imam and Shaheen etc. they’ve had long enough rope.

Who will be next coach ??, surrely after Gary and Gillepie row , PCB not gonna sit with or expect foreign coaches to apply for the position...

Merry go around with former players and it will continue..

whatever happens pls throw Aaqib outta PCB should be nowhere near , he needs to be held accountable for selecting such squad for an ICC tournament that happens in home soil after 36 yrs..

My instinct is that he must have been bribed to select such squad , replacing a team that whitewashed SA in SA.....

Rizwan will not voice because his selection demand of Khushdil was fulfilled...

More and more defeats under Aaqib's rule. things are going from bad to worse but no one is taking the responsibility. People now have a new excuse that they are young, but the real questions is, ARE THEY CAPABLE AS WELL????

Jason Gillespie speaking during a Podcast:

“Right now, I’m not sure I’m interested in coaching full time. [Even if Australia come calling] No, I’m not interested.”

“The Pakistan experience has soured my love for coaching, I’ll be honest. I’ll get it back, I’m sure I will, but that was really a blow. It really disappointed me, how that all ended.”

“It’s had me question whether I want to coach full time again.”

“I’m open to coaching in the leagues and some short-term coaching or as a consultant. But as for a full-time coaching role, right now, it’s not on my agenda. I’ve been coaching full time for the best part of 15 years, I just think that it’s time I did something else.”

It didn't end like woolmer's.

Count your lucky stars.

You can at least count. Stars. After coaching pakistan.

Shameless aqib is to blame for the aqib. Can't wait for aqib the loser to be gone.

Gillespie should have been prepared for the pressure and challenges involved in accepting the Pakistani coaching gig. If he thought he would get an uninterrupted three year run even if the team was losing badly, left, right and centre then he clearly had not prepared well for the role.

After his stint with PCB i have lost respect for Aqib J, who was an average bowler in his career and flop with Lahore Q for ling time, but I gave him benwfit if doubt for being a decent human being as in his career he was non controversial and manged to stay away from fixing despite playing in era when lots of match fixing was going on.

The constant turnover of coaches can lead to situations where each new coach brings in a different philosophy and set of ideas. In such cases, it’s not far-fetched to assume that a new coach might favor the players who have been performing best statistically. This can create uncertainty among the players, who may begin playing for their averages rather than the overall success of the team. I'm not pointing to any specific player, but this is a natural phenomenon that can affect any team experiencing frequent coaching changes.

But Aqib bhai position looks secure despite loosing left right and centr

ATM, all the responsibility is thrown on players while selectors and coaches are nowhere to be seen. Aaqin has been slipping under the radar for a long time now... Team has hit the depth of humiliation but no one is talking about pathetic selections and coaches.

Gillespie's treatment by the PCB is nothing short of a disgrace.

He would have taken the team forward and players could have improved under his guidance.

But good old PCB, one step forward and two steps back.

No wonder we are sliding downwards in the world of cricket.
