LOL, it's below 35 in Boston right now, and raining.

Hoggard not happy with Giles's treatment of the ball.

Ponting out for 196! Wicket from Hoggard. Out LBW.

Now we need some quick runs from Gilly to push us to 500.

ball was just clipping the bail. fair decision but could have gone the other way

Gilchrist out

Gilly done for a duck!! Hoggy takes two.

Here come the cowlashers. Warney first up. We may not make 500!

dAont Worry. the next entertainer Warne is here. hopefully he will show some wierd shots and have fun

Hoggard's got his tail up now, hint of reverse swing.

Two short of 1000 runs in this year. It came in a matter of 12 innings! Astonishing.

wait a minute.....is it reversing?
I don't think so as it was Hoggard bowling. there is some swing. and I am not listening to Botham doing commentary. I think for Gilli he just bowled over the wicket a inswinger for lefty and got him

:)) ....according to him even Ian Bell gets the ball to reverse!

i see the curse of the 190's has spread to ponting as well

I'm pretty sure we'll be looking at a score of 500ish, not much more than that, and may be bowling around tea or thereabouts.

126.6 Hoggard to Gilchrist, OUT, strewth ... it's a collapse! Gilchrist played down the wrong line to a ball angled into him - a sniff of swing as well - and another raucous appeal as it hit him on the front foot. It was in line and hitting leg, and Bucknor positively raced into the decision (well, it only took about five seconds)

AC Gilchrist lbw b Hoggard 0 (3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

126.3 Hoggard to Ponting, OUT, Ponting's superb innings ends. He shuffled across his stumps looking to work to leg and was struck in front by Hoggard. A vociferous and pleading appeal was answered - finally - by Steve Bucknor and Ponting reluctantly turned and headed off, but not before he had aimed a massive swipe at the turf on his way back to the pavilion

RT Ponting lbw b Hoggard 196 (319b 23x4 0x6) SR: 61.44

I thought Hoggy was getting some reverse swing actually - that's what he was having a whinge to Giles about before he removed Ponting, that Giles was not keeping one side of the ball clean. But it's unusual to get the ball to reverse at the Gabba in any case.

are you talking about batting or bowling?

bowling of course! if pietersen bowled more often and eliminated the customary short ball per over he could be pretty useful

i agree....he can as good as bowler as someone like Gayle!

BREAKING NEWS:

Harmison doesnt bowl a wide...Queen awards him an OBE:)

Can Harmy get in on the act as well?

Bill Lawry after Harmisson throws at the stumps in follow through : "OH! he has hit the stumps!!"

I think Pietersen used to bowl pretty regulary when he used to play in SA. was it Natal???

Oxy you jinxed ponting.....

It's amazing the parallels that MoYo and Dubya's years have gone eh - now Ponting's fallen within reach of a double ton as well. But he did his job as did MoYo yesterday. Now the cowlashers need to lash a few to get us to 530 or so. Assuming we don't get out, we should declare around then and send England in to bat.

I wanted 200 for both but for Yo Yo this is the 3rd time this year getting out in 190s :6:

Do you guys feel that Gilchrist's average is averaging out? because i never thought he was 'that' good to average around 60 in test cricket.

Gilchrist - his age is catching up I think. but yeah 50 (which is still very good) is probably his correct average maybe still exagerated. maybe he is not getting enough not outs and he has failed a few times

i think so but not 100% sure. He was a genuine off spinner who used to bat about number 10 i think!

the reason why i rate Gilchrist high is not because of his average(which is a bit beefed up with not outs)...i rate him because of his SR! There have been so many times when he has taken the game away from the opposition in mere 45 mins!

wooh...that's like Shoaib Malik....only difference is that Malik used to bat #10 while playing international cricket
