Which is why they should have used a different actor. Attention to minute details matter a lot, and they have failed at it many times.

It's more unrealist that someone would have their bone structure change completely than look like a 20 years old who looks slightly older than his age.

No, its the side pose where he droves the sword into the Mad King's heart, where Jamie's face is reasonably visible.

I don't agree. Take young Ned's example.

The fact that they used a younger actor felt more natural than it would have had they used scruffy old Sean Bean to portray 20 years younger Ned.

When you go back two decades, it is natural that the audience will expect change. Using Sean Bean in the Tower of Joy scene would have made it look like it happened 5 mins ago, just like it felt with the Mad King scene.

The direction can be so lazy at times that if Ned was still alive, they would have used Sean Bean in the Tower of Joy scene.

You can disagree as much as you want, but I would insist that they should have either given Jamie a makeover/different hairstyle or used a different actor, because using the present day Jamie in the flashback scene simply did not feel natural and did not show that it happened a long time ago, just like it felt in the Tower of Joy scene with a young guy portraying Ned, where you could instantly appreciate the time span.

Except this is a 2 seconds scene where you can't even see his face or that he looks older. You only know that he looks older because you expect it. Had they gotten a different actor, we wouldn't even know that's Jaime.

Basically just nitpicking.

You can clearly see that it is present-day Jamie in the third picture that you posted. Clearly doesn't respect the time frame of two decades, and doesn't give the vibe that it happened a long time ago.

Had they used a different actor, we would definitely have known that it is Jamie because:

Throne room

Mad King shouting 'burn them all'

A blonde Knight wearing the Kingsguard cloak approaches him and drives a sword into his heart from the back, and then sits on the throne

Who else could it have been? How many more blatantly obvious clues does one need that it is the 'Kingslayer' flashback?

If someone cannot deduce it from all of that, he/she is probably too stupid for this show.

The only people who feel superior for having read a fantasy book series are those who probably don't have much in the way of literary culture in the first place.

Problem is, both in the books and the show, she is the closest to a Mary Sue. Every other teen makes a mistake a immediately pays a price. Sansa? Get her father killed. Arya? Loses everything. Rob? Gets red weddinged. Jon? Gets stabbed by his own men. Dany? She openly taunts her husband with her lover in front of everyone and....... nothing even though her entire alliance should disappear. Dragons and being fire proof solve all her problem even after she makes blunder after blunder. She is the most non-gray and uninteresting character for these reasons as their is no tension associated with her. Which is why I hope she does go mad and go after Jon to make things more interesting.

Not to forget the fact that the best advisors magically appear to help her, Selmy, Tyrion, Varys, Jorah. And she ignores all of them most time
 
Tonight's episode better be good, we cannot have two underwhelming episodes on the trot specially in the business end of the season

Khaleesi is quite a paindu.. I just want her to achieve something or die, her story is getting increasingly boring with each passing episode and if you take a glance from season 1 to season 6 she is back to square one..

Care to explain how being raped, losing her unborn child, her husband and her brother, being raised in exile, being betrayed by Jorah and then losing him, having your dragon kill innocent children, become barren, losing all your ships,... are not examples of paying the price?

You're just a typical indian macho guy who hates seeing strong female characters.

I think a lot of young male viewers are intimidated by our Khaleesi. So we get talk of blandness, stupidity, bad acting and so on.

Agree with Mamoon that it was lazy directing, but what does one scene matter in the whole scheme of things?
 
What a boring episode.. it improved a little bit because of Arya.. but her scenes lasted all of 10 seconds
 
People need to realize that with series like these you need set-up episodes for the big climax. If they put all action in it then people will whine about the story moving too fast.

That's what happens with good shows I guess. First season raises the bar high, and the bar keeps going higher and higher and people keep expecting action packed episodes season in and season out. Can't work like that every season. The season after this one is the last, so they are bringing back old characters and trying to bring the story together which is why it feels slow.

Though next episode we'll see Mountain smash sparrows and possibly see Arya die, though I think she'll survive
 
Three episodes of build up have been frustrating. Right when you are looking for some action the focus shifts to other characters. :))

Arya will find Gendry or Syrio Fyrell while she is roaming through that street bleeding out and I think she will survive. She still has plenty of names on her list and they won't kill her off just yet after she has spent years and years in training.


Don't know what the Mountain will do to the Sparrows, but one thing is for sure we are going to have a Hound vs Mountain face off sometime soon with the Hound finally getting revenge on him for burning his face.

That's what happens when you have multiple plotlines bro. They have to work on all of them little by little to eventually bring them all together for the big finish of living vs the dead.
 
It was a bit tedious. Two many jumps about. Should have put all the Arya stuff in the next episode.

Loved Jaime's backhander though - CLANG!
 
Did they really use a Van-Damme 80s style, called it quits, innocent people die, then come out of retiring to lay revenge, as a type of narrative? Really?

To me, the non book storytelling since the show has surpassed the books, has had the quality significantly go down as well.

They go in circles and spend too much time on certain areas simply to milk the cow as it were.

Also, Arya's scene seems like a dream state, but even that story seemed to have gone around in circles, and though they may clean it up, it looked like a lot of time wasted when they could have had a conclusion a lot sooner.

The show is getting sloppier with time.

Also the Bran is the Lord of Light is now very predictable, and as with Jon Snow coming back, the show is becoming bland and is no longer keeping one guessing. They aren't touching certain characters now clearly, and that edge they used to have is dwindling.
 
The Dumb King, Tommen Baratheon, makes King Joffrey look as good as Charlemagne.

I don't see how House Lannister recovering from the death of Tywin Lannister. Tommen is easily influenced and Tywin was already making him dance to his tunes before his untimely death.
 
One episode without Daenerys and i ve to say well done,didn't really understand what the Hound was doing also why is the brotherhood attacking people?I somehow assumed brotherhood would help blackfish but looking at the preview of next doesn't look like it.

Lyanna Mormont was amazing imo and the scene with Blackfish even better.
 
Lyanna Mormont would give Dany a run for her money after the way she negotiated those 60 men as if they would make the difference between the war for Westeros :))

That gypsie woman/stage actress will probably save Arya

I still am not sure whether that's a dream, but you make a good point regarding Arya. It just bothered me that she nonchalantly just walked around all relaxed and didn't anticipate the face changers to be around.

To me that's bad character regression, and sure it's possible, but given the circumstances, and the fact she's been through so much and has become pretty smart with how she has survived, just didn't make it believable. If it is, it is bad direction and writing for me.

I'm surprised she's survived that long with multiple knife wounds, is this some trait she picked up from the training at Bravos, or is this an error by directors? Robb pretty much got knocked out from just 1 stab (granted he took few arrows too) but this girl just straight up held her breath under water and is now roaming the streets with bloody wounds and all.

This is usually the case with plays based around kingdoms. The elder brother rules (or tries to rule) with an iron fist and is brutal, and his younger brother for some reason is always a wimp. There's this one drama on ARY called Mor Mahal, it's based around the mughal dynasty, and in it the king is very merciless but his young brother is a wimpy loser.

But Tywin will die, we already know all of Cersei's children will die.

So far all the kings are worse than what we got in Pakistan... Robert, then Joffery and now this baby King, before them it was mad King... They seem to make the worse guy in the family, King [emoji849][emoji849][emoji849]

Tywin was the only real king material we had seen so far from the ruling family, rest are too immature to hold on to kingdom... Ned was another guy worthy of King, he was killed way too early for my liking...I wanted to see Throne battle between him and Tywin for a season or so....

Atleast this season there are no new characters, old stories line and characters are winding down... Which is the sign that whole thing is winding down....

I still don't see how any of the remaining Stark's would die out this season? [emoji848][emoji848][emoji848] -

Arya story line better result in something, we don't want to see Another Misbah innings for 40 overs, that goes nowhere [emoji83][emoji83][emoji83]

Same goes for Sansa and Jon, they better beat Ramsey this season (episode 9 I guess) and ready for real war with the dead, if they have to loose to Ramsey in winterfill after 7 years, that is worse than Pakistan first round exist in WC, it's one thing that Umar Akmal fails but I cannot take Jon's epic failure in second innings, nothing short of YK is expected

Bran is going to ride one of the Dragon and kill the Knight's King in last or second last episode of last (7th season) and take revenge of three eye Raven, so he is very important dude in whole scheme of things...

I still don't get what's the deal with White Walker, they were present in very first episode... Winter has still not come after 6 years and only 13 episode remaining... Nor we know anything about Walkers... What they think, plan or want? [emoji848][emoji848][emoji848]

If climax of whole thing is war between living and dead, we got to have more emotion, purpose in the life of walkers, they cannot be mindless killers with no purpose.... It's like Heaven/Hell, you live there for ever and ever and for no reason and purpose, I am expecting some sense of purpose behind those guys... So far I don't remember if they ever talk or communicate in any meaningful manner?[emoji848][emoji848]

Who gives a damn about Aryas story anymore? Why are people even discussing that filler rubbish. Sometimes I feel like skipping those parts. And to think she was my favorite character along with Tyrion at the end of season 4.

I literally fast forwarded through many scenes.I understand a little build up is necessary but 50 minutes of boredom is not what someone expects from GOT.Hope they have something really interesting in store for us in the final three episodes.

People can survive days with stab wounds to the belly. It's not like in the movies where you get stabbed and die 5 seconds later, blood loss takes time.

This is the problem with this series that a whole season which consists of 10 episodes could have been produced in 2 or 3 episodes.

Some people like me who have not read books have forgotten few characters as well. Because of longevity and pointless scenes the series is not worth watching for multiple times.

Instead of 6th season we should have seen this much by the end of third season.

You do realise without this boring (as many call it) build up none of the momentous occasions in the past wouldve meant anything as we wouldnt know jack about the characters and their motivations.The Red Wedding was epic as we spent literally 3 years getting to know the characters, their personalities and aims, only for it all to be washed away in 10 freaking amazing minutes. Had you and the rest of the moaners had their way that entire plotline wouldve been 10X worse.

The same people who are moaning about GOT will be creaming themselves when the season ends, same thing happened true detective season 2, wahhh waahhh how dare this story actually not end in the space of 40 mins, then when something amazing happens OMG this is the best thing ever. Ridiculous.

Stop watching GOT if it bores you so much, fed up of putting up with this negative crap. Not that the show doesnt have faults but all this whinging over actual character development is just annoying as hell to read after every damn episode.
 
How long are the seasons in this fantasy story? A lot happened already including births, marriages, deaths, wars, killings etc and winters are still on their way to come? :13:

6 years already according to my calendar so where are those bloody winters! or the prediction was for some winters after 6/7 years?

I believe more time has passed in the shows than each year representing a season.

It does not necessarily take seasons to develop characters. Dozens of movies which consist of less than 3 hours have had memorable characters.
Makers want to maximize their profit and it is their right. I personally would have liked more progress in less time which is my opinion. You may disagree, agree or ignore.

I wish the show goes on forever but i would like to see a little bit of purpose in every scene.

But the survival rate is very less even in modern times. Let alone at a time without modern medicine. Opening the stomach cavity is a sure shot means for infection and the leaking stomach acids damage other organs

Seasons go on for decades in Westros. Most probably because of COTF magic. Summer lasted 20 years

People defend the show as though it has always done this, but this isn't true. The fact is, since the writers shifted from the ideas stemming from the books, to now just having a vague structure based on what Martin said would happen, they are stretching areas as far as they can go.

I didn't need to see 20 minutes of Sam at his home, it was completely irrelevant.

I think the quality dropped after season one, then again after season three. Four and five were quite dull and meandering. Fortunately season six has picked up the pace.
 
Arya was not the Waif? That story was what? Character development? For her to find herself? What a waste of time.

I did enjoy the episode though. Really excited for the big battle next week. The next two episodes will have some big scenes.
 
- Friggin Tully's are the dumbest house in the show, that whole surrendering scene and the army listening to a paindoo rather than the other Tully with balls made me cringe. Not to mention the BF deciding not to retreat to fight another day and rather get himself killed :facepalm:

- The girl chasing Arya gave me the T1000 nostalgia from T2, she even chased like him :))

- Gotta say, really felt bad for Cersei after being abandoned by her son for the umpteenth time, all her wretched actions have been for the sake of her children, and in the she gets screwed over by them. Karma I guess. BTW anyone know what rumour she was talking about with her scientist?

- Dany's assistant is cute af.
 
Decent episode, though the Arya plotline is really weird tbh. Next episode will be epic. Especially the battle in the North looking at the promo.

I don't think so. Cersei loves her children more than anything else, including Jaime. If anything, she might be worried more than ever about the the easily malleable Tommen..
 
What is the point of Arya's story? Learning how to fight blindfolded? She isn't even faceless now. The entire Bravos storyline for the last 2 seasons seems futile now..

Not to sure on the ruling on who becomes king. If Stannis were alive, I think he'd have been king automatically lol :))

I doubt the Faith would even allow Cersei anywhere near power, and everyone in the court hates her already.

Yeh thats exactly what I said too, it was pointless. Even the reintroduction of the Blackfish, because they are back at square one; Freys and Lannisters in control of the Riverrun as before.

Anyways, I don't think it would be Cersei herself that would kill Tommen, but then again she was willing to poison and kill him and her daughter when she thought Stannis would take over Kings Landing. There was also a prophecy that she would out-live her children.

Anyways, I don't think it would be Cersei herself that would kill Tommen, but then again she was willing to poison and kill him and her daughter when she thought Stannis would take over Kings Landing. There was also a prophecy that she would out-live her children.

I hope it is not because the showrunners are out of material and trying to fill gaps before Martn completes the next book.. Would be a shame..

Show has gone way past the books and are making up as it goes, heck they deviated from the books even in the earlier seasons so they could care less about what happens in Martin's next book (this season would have followed the plot of his next book).
