Fresh from his days at U19 WC - looks very confident from ball 1!

Yes but kami should have gone to him after the first ball or the management before he came out

Kami is a selfish, dodgy cricketer with a terrible attitude. Why would he guide the youngsters?

Haider should look to Malik for guidance. He might not be the best player currently, but he has tons of experience around the world, and knows something about fitness and image.

After Babar this guy has a chance to be a very good batsman for Pakistan and I hope he is given a very very long rope to show his stuff.

Haider Ali should play every single game. He will blossom. However I feel like he can be a much more successful Test/ODI than T20 batsman

He has to show a lot to convince anyone that he is a long term option for Pakistan.

Why that crouch and horrible stance? Iirc, previously he had a pretty proper stance.

That six off Mills to get off the mark was a thing of beauty.

Superb.

Silly shot again. Should aim to play till the end here.

Some wild shots, but he's a young guy, so hopefully with time that will improve.

Definitely has the talent to play in all formats, however he needs to play a good 2-3 years of FC cricket.

If he is an opener, then averaging 40+ would be great and if he bats in the middle, then 45+ would be excellent and a potential world class batsman.

Let's see how does in FC.

The U-19 World Cup showed that he was the only player in the side with international potential, and the two PSL matches so far reaffirm that viewpoint.

However, he needs a lot of work but there is a semblance of hope that he can be successful in international cricket.

Another Shahzad in making to be honest. Instead of focusing on building an inning, he wants to be glamorous.

Unfair to play him over much deserving Umer Amin.

Showed at the U-19 WC that he has something and now how better does it get than chewing into the brains of Amla when you have him with you. He needs to learn and understand as much about the game from him as he can.

Too anxious, needs to relax and just play. He has enough shots without trying to manufacture shots at this stage of he career.

He has Amla amongst the coaching stuff. Should learn as much as he can from him. Haider Ali is often late on pulls so this is an area he can improve alot on.

Haider Ali is one of the few young Pakistani batsmen to get opportunities in the PSL and 2 average dismissals so far

PSL is higher level of cricket. Kid needs to relax and stick to basics. Trying too hard to be Kohli will take him down the same path as Shahzad.

Hes defo got the power game but needs to rotate more otherwise will get bogged down the six to mills was different class

As said in the match thread and other threads before, he is on of the best young talents we have had in quite a few years. How much works he puts and and what kind of trajectory his career takes would totally depend on him but he has the natural ingredients to succeed in all 3 formats.

He has the talent, but just needs to learn how to rotate the strike and not get bogged down.

Completely agree. He's got the ingredients it all depends on him how hard he works on his game as well as rectifying his wekaneness. He needs to learn quickly.

To be honest, he clearly knows how to play some classical shots and build an innings.

It’s refreshing to see him come out in PSL all guns blazing and play some shots and take these risks.

It’s perfect for this format, but he does need to calm down a bit.

Babar, who is the template for every batsman in Pak, started off slowly and then developed these shots / agression after playing leagues.

The fact Haider is displaying these shots at a young age is very encouraging.

Even if he only has a 90sr the whole tournament, atleast he is being put in pressure situations early so international cricket wont look all new to him.

There is some potential in this guy. Maybe only Rohail Nazir is better?

But needs to learn a lot. It's not all about big boundaries in T20 cricket. There is a fine line between becoming a Babar or a Shehzad. Hope he chooses wisely.

Not Impressed with Rohail, won;t be very successful at international level, Haris has more potential as a young wicket keeper batsman. Yes Haider has great potential.

Based on these two innings I don't rate him, he's so bottom handed. Terrible performance

Huraira was better than Haider

So far has looked confused and frantic. Too desperate to impress, needs to calm down. Today Kami, was telling him to rotate the Strike but he should known that Kami was in, so why was he so frantic when the total was within reach. Hopefully he will learn quickly

Haider Ali is gifted with hand-eye combination. This lad needs to be worked on closely by management, I wish Mickey Arthur was around at this point in time as I thought his potential could have been maximised under him rather than Misbah.

In any case he is not yet ready for internationals certainly. Someone needs to work closely with him and put him on a plan to make him more fitter, agile and help with his overall fielding ground and aerial. Further, he definitely needs to play longer version of the game domestically to ensure he develops his temperament.

He can go down 2 routes. One is where he can develop his batting discipline, temperament and respect for bowlers and eventually go down as a decent Pakistani cricketer. The other is he wants to be a showman and have a fan base of lusty shots, this way he will be popular no doubt but not the cricketer Pakistan cricket needs.

only thing stopping haider from playing for Pakistan for a long time is if he plays for Pakistan right know because he needs at least 2-3 years to develop in domestic than hopefully he plays for Pakistan

And this is why PSL is such nonsense...

He probably doesn't have the game to be T20 player, which is no big deal. Looks technically good and aesthetically pleasing to be a potentially solid player in Tests and ODI's.

There is some potential in this guy. Maybe only Rohail Nazir is better?.

Talent and ability wise I dont think Rohail is in Haider’s league as Rohail while looked decent but always a bit limited to me. However lets see how the youngsters develop.

Rohail has a mature ahead and will rotate strikes but limited
Haider has the power game and self belief but doesnt have the temperament but he can only get better

That six was an awesome shot. Will go down as one of the best sixes of this edition. Wow! Haider looks talented and has class. Plays some very classy strokes, doesn´t he? However, it is clear to everyone of us that he needs to work on his temperament and be a bit more patient on the crease. Looked too jumpy and nervous. Needs to calm down a little.

He must be something special if Mamoon approves him. :))

He looks confident and wants to play fearless cricket.

I hope he can succeed.

Let’s just be thankful he hasn’t been picked by Islamabad. He would be carrying the drinks or batting at 7.

And in the nets Misbah would be teaching him the subtle art of dead batting the ball.

Time is on his side, but he needs to cut out the wild slogs or they will become a bad habit and in cricket bad habits are difficult to eradicate.

Whilst he played some excellent shots today, there were also some very average slogs.

I don't want to be too harsh on the kid, but he needs to get rid of the slogs.

Can't really judge him off this. Best thing is him playing regular first class cricket.

Agreed !

That shot off tymal mills and the follow through
Hopefully he can replicate these shots in multan&islamabad as the competition moves to the east

He's a good talent. Have to say it feels good to see a good Pakistani batsman this tournament

Today he's playing proper cricketing shots.

And looks SO AMAZING.

Needs to be be taken under the NCA wings. Probably even with LOI squads.

It feels extra amazing since he's a batsman.

PCB please put him at the top of your list and look after this kid.

Wait, Akmal fans told us all that we don't have anyone better than his 22 average and 119 SR????

Oh yes! How could I forget, Akmal has scored more runs than him overall in PSL history so we should select him for the next 3 world cups.

Here's your opener for Pak T20 squad and we're only into the 8th game of PSL. Wait till the end I'll give you two more options which will be much better than K Akmal.

Imagine him playing in the World Cup, performing below average so only averages around 20, but getting the exposure and experience. Would be so beneficial to him.

Now compare that with taking Akmal, who performs at his optimal which is 25 average and is dropped from the team until the next domestic tournament when he scores well.

47 off 26 so far... We know he can hit them big but how is his strike rotation? Can anyone confirm?

And he's gone... Just as I type the above message :(. Good innings nonetheless!

He was well set and he should have tried to stay until the end of the innings. Especially as his team were already 4 down. This will only come with experience, im afraid!

PCB already knows this. Wasim Khan has publicly spoken about him as the next prodigy. Pakistan rarely earmarks batting talents at an early stage, Babar was identified at age 13 -- Haider will be protected.

His game:afridi against short pitch needs mass improvement otherwise he is a decent talent

Really? Thats good to hear.

I know they have ear marked Rohail Nazir and are developing him well. But he seems to me to have less shots and will become a Test player most likely.

Should be dropped.... should have played that better... selfish looking for 50 when team was in trouble.

I think Babar was more talented but Haider has different strengths which is good we dont want Babar clones. Hopefully he becomes part of the limited overs squad soon and also should be among the first names in the reckoning when we eventually move on from azhar and Asad in tests.
