According to BJP Hanuman was the first space traveller and this information was hidden due to the British Education System in India.

Will we see this position becoming mainstream in science classes in India? It is a notable achievement and it's a shame that this achievement been covered up by the dastardly Brits.

"Think Hanuman Ji Was 1st Space Traveller": BJP MP Anurag Thakur To Students
Read In App"Think Hanuman Ji Was 1st Space Traveller": BJP MP Anurag Thakur To Students

Anurag Thakur had asked students who the first space traveller was, to which the students had answered Neil Armstrong.

It is a fact universally acknowledged that the first person to travel to space was Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin on April 12, 1961. However, former Union Minister Anurag Thakur appears to suggest to a group of young students that it was Lord Hanuman.

Mr Thakur was speaking to students on the occasion of National Space Day at a PM Shri School - which aims to nurture students in a way that they become engaged, productive, and contributing citizens for building an equitable, inclusive, and plural society as envisaged by the National Education Policy 2020 - at Una in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday.

Here's how the interaction between the BJP MP and the students went:

Anurag Thakur: Antriksh main yatra karne wala pehla kaun tha? (Who was the first space traveller?)

Students (speaking in chorus): Neil Armstrong

Anurag Thakur: Mujhe toh lagta hai Hanuman ji the (I think it was Hanumanji).

American astronaut Neil Armstrong was the first person to walk on the Moon, while Yuri Gagarin was the first person to travel to space.

However, the five-time parliamentarian did not correct the children and launched into an explanation, backing his "Hanuman" theory.

"Because we still see ourselves as we are now. As long as we do not know our thousands of years' old tradition, knowledge, culture, we will remain the same as the British have shown us. So, I would like to request the Principal and all of you to think out of the textbooks and take a look at our nation, our traditions, our knowledge. If you look at it from that direction, you will find a lot of things to see," said the 50-year-old MP from Himachal's Hamirpur.

The first Indian to travel to space was Rakesh Sharma some forty years ago. Earlier this year, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla became the second Indian astronaut to travel to space.

This is mainstream belief in Hinduism . If was ‘God then a powerful being , its fine as a belief but the teacher allowing this without challenge isn’t doing his job at all

Authenticity of Religious Text
  1. Following is not Qu'raan
  2. Its a saying (among thousands) of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him)
Narrated 'Umar bin Al-Khattab: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying, "The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. So whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration was for what he emigrated for." [Bukhari]

This saying of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) is so common is that most Muslims regardless of ethnicity, nationality and language quote it in terms of intentions. Here is @Bewal Express paraphrasing it for @Major in a thread about Imran Khan and corruption (I am adding the English translation in brackets)

...Absolutely. We must clean our niyaat (Intention) and IA we will get barkat (Blessings)...

Today, when you ask Muslims about it then they can reference it in many ways:
  1. Common Muslims just quote it or paraphrase it that Intention is important
  2. Some Muslims will show you the text in Saheeh Bukhari
  3. Chain: A Scholar studying has a chain going all the way to Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him). Test any scholar in East or West in any language and ask him to recite his chain from him all the way to Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him)
We can narrate the life story of each student and teacher who is in the chain of transmission, their era, their standing in the community, their memory, their lifestyle challenge us and we will produce it.

We ask any Hindu to produce a chain of a text from their religion in 2025 before we can even begin to determine whether what is being said is correct or incorrect.

This is not to belittle anyone or their religion but show the difference between Islam and other religions.

If you are a HIndu, you have to believe that Hanuman could travel in space. It is part of their faith even if it is mythology.

People calling it disgraceful should look into their own religion.

Dear @Champ_Pal

Agreed and nobody's beliefs should be insulted or devalued.

Its mythology i.e. "myth" and people can believe in whatever "myths" they want to believe in as long they understand that its mythology and there are no historical chains of transmission of these texts.

Thanks

It seems you have put on your cape to defend Hindu extremism, despite pretending to be an atheist.

You are contradicting yourself in an attempt to rush to defence. If it is "mythology" then a government teacher shouldn't be mentioning it in a science class and then blaming British Education for withholding the information.

In Ramayana, many people saw Hanuman take to the skies. It was penned down by the sages that saw the miracle. What does chains of narrations do to a miracle? The eyewitness himself wrote it down. (y)

Dear @Champ_Pal
  1. There is no authenticity associated with Ramayana
  2. No authentic transmission
  3. No record of eye witness, his lifestyle, his historical records etc
But people can believe in whatever "mythology" they want to believe in as long as they know that its mythology.

What is extremist in a Hindu saying what he believes?

I believe it is mythology. Not the believers.

He said it to students and I do not support that. Religion should be separated from education. But some posters calling it disgraceful shows they do not know their own scriptures.

Not one poster has said it is disgraceful as a belief. This is something you have cooked up.

Religious beliefs are to be respected.

But we can't respect passing this off as scientific fact and then laying the blame on the British.

We have oral traditions for both Ramayana and Mahabharata epics. It is part of Puranas aka history of India. Every region in India has hundreds of story tellers telling the same story of Ramayana for thousands of years.

So if there are eye witnesses, travel to outer space on a donkey or a mere high jump makes it authentic?

All of Indian traditions are oral traditions. Just like Islam.

Hanuman is believed to have traveled faster than the speed of light, leading to the great wisdom, that light travels faster than sound.

Hanuman's disciples swiftly concluded, that, as soon as Hanuman uttered a word or two, he appeared bright until he opened his mouth.

Hindutva is a bankrupt ideology.

Don't feed the dying gasp.

😎

Are you an Atheist or a Hindu? These are two separate things.

if it doesn't matter then state it clearly
I can be anything. It is irrelevant.

When it comes to faith, you can believe in anything even if it sounds improbable. Hence they are considered miracles and the one who performed it are considered God or at least the reincarnation of God.

Do you believe it. And there is no shame in believing in your own scriptures.

I urge all users to recall and reference the the infamous thread on PP - What is Hinduism.

100 India Hindutva users, 100 different answers.

The outsiders cannot be accused of causing any offence when the Hindutva Cult have no idea what they stand for.

Traveling to space on a flying Horse is considered legit then? :mv :dw

If you call it Hinduism bankrupt ideology then I will like to hear about your own religion too. Don't get angry. I am sure if you can dish it, you can take it too.

  1. Ashamed of stating your beliefs
  2. Ashamed of opening up your beliefs to scrutiny
No problems, you have the right.

Thanks

Would love too, please state your belief and we will give you a chance to question anything in Islam and then we will apply the same principles to your belief.

Please open a thread and say that I will open my beliefs and open it to the same scrutiny.

It will be a pleasure to engage in a discussion with you, whats there to be angry about? 😯

Please open a thread with a topic of your choice about Islam and we will then ask you about your belief. Go ahead and start with your issues on a topic about Islam.

Looking forward to it, my friend.

I called it mythology. That shows my stance.

Do you believe a human went to outer space on a Donkey/Horse?

Mythology with no record of historical accuracy or transmission.

Why would I be ashamed? I am a cultural Hindu. I do not believe in any miracles that are part of Hinduism.

Since I cleared it, do you believe your religious figure went to outer space on a winged Horse/Donkey? Do you consider it real or mythology?

  1. What is your religious belief?
  2. Commit to your beliefs
  3. Lets discuss a topic of your choice (on Islam) vs a topic of your belief

Commit to a fair discussion, lets go.

Looking forward to this. Clearly commit and stand by your words.

Don't have time to waste, lets go...

Everyone please don't let him wiggle out of his words! I am willing to discuss the story of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) with @Champ_Pal using science and logic to the best of my ability and I then want him to use the same standards to defend his words.

@DeadlyVenom @The Bald Eagle @Suleiman @Technics 1210 @KingKhanWC @sweep_shot

Do you the obvious and massive issue from Einstein's theory of Relativity point of view from what @Champ_Pal is saying about Hanuman and what Muslims claim about Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) going to Meraj?
Was it said tongue in cheek or .. ? Hard to know with these BJP types.

Do you see the issue from Physics on what he is saying?

What do you mean ?

What is the issue with what @Champ_Pal is saying? Btw, Muslims don't say any such things at all about anything.

Correct.

You cannot discuss without getting emotional losing your marbles.. :mv

What is the point of discussing mythology? It is part of Hindu faith. It is very similar to Greek mythology. There are Gods and demi-Gods. They can perform incredible feats. If someone is a religious Hindu, they have to believe in it.

If you consider Islamic miracles as part of mythology, then there is no point of discussion. If you think they are all real events, then you have to show the proof. The burden of proof is on you. So go ahead.

Just waiting for you to give your word and standby your word.

Same standards for both Islam and Hinduism.

So you want to use EInstien's theroy of relativity to judge the story of Hanuman jumping to outer space? :ROFLMAO:

A miracle is something that cannot be explained by science and natural laws. LOL@you for thinking you are going to win an argument over internet on miracles and mythology.. :mv

What is the issue with what @Champ_Pal is saying? Btw, Muslims don't say any such things at all about anything.

I don't see a problem here. Assuming Hanuman is a God, he likely has supernatural powers and can fly around. Doesn't the concept of religion entail the supernatural ?

I am reminded of one of the greatest rave tracks of all time - Out of Space by the Prodigy.

But I feel the OP is more inclined towards - Space Cowboy by Jamiroquai!

😂😂😂

Then you don't see the massive issue in what @Champ_Pal is saying, no problems.

Let him commit to judging Islam and Hinduism with the same principles and yardstick (logic, science whatever) and he can start with his best shot on Islam first and then we pivot to Hinduism.

Islam isn't based on mythology.

Do NOT let the cult challenge Islam - the world must challenge Hindutva.

Islam is the fastest growing religion for good reson. Hindutva has failed over 5000 years.

Do NOT fall into the web of Hindutva words.

Challenge the cult idology - ask the cult to articulate their belief.

So what you are saying is your religion’s miracles are more believable than Hanuman miracles. Hmmm!

As @RexRex said, Hanuman is a Demi-God. He can do incredible stuff as per the story of Ramayana. What is the issue for you, I don’t understand 🙄

So a man flying to outer space on a winged horse/donkey is not mythology? But a Demi-God flying to outer space is mythology? 🤣

Why you fretting and acting insecure?

Stop falling for the cult trick.

Ask these cult moron which version of Hindutva, version of God, version of Ganga - they believe in, and why.

Then for dessert, you can discuss caste system with hot towels.

Absolutely, I am claiming that.

Sure Hindus are morons for believing in a flying Demi-God but believing in a man flying to outer space on a horse is very wise and scientific. :salute

Give your word that you will defend Hinduism using science and logic and that you believe in Hinduism and willing to standby your beliefs and defend them.

Say the word that you will defend your belief.

Lets start with this topic and Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon) traveling up to 7 Heavens

What is scientific in the Night Journey? Where is the logic and scientific proof in it?

Say that you will then open Hinduism to the same level of logical and scientific scrutiny. I will be happy to answer your questions.

We will use:
  1. Logic
  2. Science
To discuss both Hinduism and Islam.

I don't call anyone Morons, anyone has the right to believe in whatever they want.

Why will I defend the stories in Hinduism when I don’t believe in the miracles there? 🤪
You are the believer. So burden is on you to prove your beliefs and the miracles in it.👍

LOL at a sanghi calling others morons.

Sanghis need to start looking in the mirrors.

:qdkcheeky
Everyone knows, the cult are embarrassed of their reflection.

Cant defend Hindutva, how can they defend themselves?

SupaPuwa Indian is the biggest joke since Hindutva invented Email and Cloud computing.

Then there is nothing to discuss between us.
What? Just because I don’t believe in the miracles in Hindu Epics, you don’t have to prove anything about your beliefs?

I thought your beliefs in your religions miracles are logical🙄.

Your faith in Islamic miracles should not depend on someone else's beliefs.👍

Initially i found it funny, but than i realized we cant laugh at this. Our own religion's prayer exists on the belief that the prophet also travelled towards the 7 heaves during Isra Miraj.

I guess making fun of them would mean they can poke holes in our religion aswell where no one would be able to defend

Explaining the issue using World-Intersection Points

Characters:

  1. @KingKhanWC in London
  2. @LordJames in Chicago
Scenario 1:

Since we are in two different physical locations we cannot experience the same thing. @KingKhanWC can turn on his webcam and show me the scene outside the window but there is no way I can experience it and feel what he is feeling.

Scenario 2:

I & @KingKhanWC agree to meet at:

  1. JFK Airport (New York City)
  2. Terminal 4
  3. Gate 32F
  4. August 26, 2025
  5. 09:32 (local time)
If either of us is not there at the exact location and at exact time, we will neither meet nor experience or feel what the other is doing at the same time.

Scenario 3:

I & @KingKhanWC agree to meet at:

  1. JFK Airport (New York City)
  2. Terminal 4
  3. Gate 32F
  4. August 26, 2025
  5. 09:32 (local time)
I arrive 10 minutes late so although I am on the same spot I experience different reality to him and since he wanted 9 minutes and left, his reality is different.

We cannot be eye witnesses to each other because we are not in the same reality.

What is left out is multi-dimensions and bending of space/time but similar concepts apply.

About as much as Hinduism is.

How do you differentiate the two in terms of supernatural events ?

Therefore Islam makes no such claims of "eye witnesses" of Prophet's Journey to the heavens.

^ Lord James claims Islam's miracles are more believable than Hinduism's miracles. Make your case, James.

As the neutral in this discussion, I will test the validity !

Not interested in wasting my time, let @Champ_Pal commit to his beliefs being put to the same level of scrutiny.

Dear @Major

Yes, if someone neither understands Islam nor science, its possible for them to think that they are the same.
  1. A father travels to work by Car
  2. A father travels to another city by train
I guess to a 2 year old in both scenarios, "father has traveled" and to a 2 year old they are both the same.

I am asking him to commit to a discussion and offering him to go first.

Thanks

For some one who opens a lot of threads on Islam, you have a habit of running away anytime someone questions you. That is a sign of someone who is not confident in his faith. #chicken
He thinks I have to believe in the miracles in Ramayana and then only he will defend his faith in his religion’s miracles.

Looks like his faith in his religion is contingent upon someone else’s faith.🙄

Except we are not talking about someone’s daddy traveling in a automobile or train.

We are talking about seriously mind boggling stories that requires Rajnikanth movie level stunts.

Traveling to outer space on a single leap or by an animal is not same as traveling by car or train. You need to try harder or at least put forward a better example. 🙄👍

Go ahead and counter it using science.

Bhai, there is no discussion.

You cant just sit here and laugh at others religion or ask them to justify their faith when your own faith as such topics being discussed.

You just became defensive and said that someone who doesnt understand islam would think both are same.

Something that is not scientifically backed and proven will not be understood and will only be accepted in theory.

Thats why, this thread serves no purpose as it can go against us.

Simple example to show why this post is against Physics!

Go ahead and counter it using science.
Why would I counter a miracle with science? 🤡
Do you even know the definition of supernatural and miracle?🤣 Hanuman is a Demi-God and hence he could do feats that no one could do. One has to believe that Hanuman is a Demi-God. Otherwise all his stunts and feats are not believable.👍 it is called faith and belief.

Believers need no proof to believe. I am a skeptic and I will not believe without evidence. 👍

Initially i found it funny, but than i realized we cant laugh at this. Our own religion's prayer exists on the belief that the prophet also travelled towards the 7 heaves during Isra Miraj.

I guess making fun of them would mean they can poke holes in our religion aswell where no one would be able to defend
If PMNL Minister went into science class and said that Prophet (saw) and Buraq was instance of first space flight and we don't learn about this because of the British. Do you think we would laugh or not?

Those attacking the belief itself have went off tangent.

It is the politicians statement we should be attacking.

@Champ_Pal has slyly altered the topic because BJP MP was involved.

Bhai, there is no discussion.

You cant just sit here and laugh at others religion or ask them to justify their faith when your own faith as such topics being discussed.

You just became defensive and said that someone who doesnt understand islam would think both are same.

Dear @Major Saheb,
  1. Nobody is laughing.
  2. What is being offered to be discussed and contrasted are the two using the same principles
Please read, understand and then argue about a topic. Maybe in your mind me claiming a Miracle and a Miracle in the Qur'aan are the same thing and that's why its important to put these to the test.

That's what is being offered.

Thanks

Claim:

In Ramayana, many people saw Hanuman take to the skies. It was penned down by the sages that saw the miracle. What does chains of narrations do to a miracle? The eyewitness himself wrote it down. (y)

Argument:

Explaining the issue using World-Intersection Points

Characters:

  1. @KingKhanWC in London
  2. @LordJames in Chicago
Scenario 1:

Since we are in two different physical locations we cannot experience the same thing. @KingKhanWC can turn on his webcam and show me the scene outside the window but there is no way I can experience it and feel what he is feeling.

Scenario 2:

I & @KingKhanWC agree to meet at:

  1. JFK Airport (New York City)
  2. Terminal 4
  3. Gate 32F
  4. August 26, 2025
  5. 09:32 (local time)
If either of us is not there at the exact location and at exact time, we will neither meet nor experience or feel what the other is doing at the same time.

Scenario 3:

I & @KingKhanWC agree to meet at:

  1. JFK Airport (New York City)
  2. Terminal 4
  3. Gate 32F
  4. August 26, 2025
  5. 09:32 (local time)
I arrive 10 minutes late so although I am on the same spot I experience different reality to him and since he wanted 9 minutes and left, his reality is different.

We cannot be eye witnesses to each other because we are not in the same reality.

What is left out is multi-dimensions and bending of space/time but similar concepts apply.

Therefore Islam makes no such claims of "eye witnesses" of Prophet's Journey to the heavens.

Not interested in wasting my time, let @Champ_Pal commit to his beliefs being put to the same level of scrutiny.

Please read and present a counterargument using physics as to what is wrong with the argument being offered. The Miracle of Meraj is not defined in this way.

Thanks

Sir, i know your intentions were clean. I dont doubt that

I agree that its the politician statement that we should be laughing at, but most posters here have resorted to bashing hinduism while defending their own.

You cant control the behavior of some of these folks

I am not in agreement with Hinduism bashing. I stated a long time ago on PP how I have gone off the topic of Zakir Nail style comparative
religion.

I would ask posters to refrain from it and discuss from a political/educational perspective only.

Both events are supernatural and requires faith to believe in them.

There is a place and time for such miracles to be discussed and it certainly is not at a space day in front of students. I believe Anurag Thakur is wrong in that. Science should never mix with faith. Both operate in a different realm. 👍

Shocking that stuff like this is peddled in the 21st century.
As long as religion exists, these things will be thrusted into the Science realm. Most educated folks will take it as an allegory or super human abilities.

In a religious gathering, people can say what their books and scriptures say about an individual or demi-God. India allows freedom to practice religion.

First monkey to go to space was Albert II.

The first monkey in space was Albert II, a rhesus monkey, who flew into space on June 14, 1949, aboard a U.S. V-2 rocket. He reached an altitude of 83 miles (134 km), surpassing the Kármán line which defines the beginning of space, becoming the first primate and mammal in space. Tragically, Albert II died on impact after a parachute failure on his capsule.

I started reciting Hanuman Chalisa in the last decade, I can say that even in Hindu Mythology that answer seems wrong about space.

Also the students answered Neil Armstrong that is also wrong lol insane the amount of nonsense that happened in this interaction with students.

On the thread and responses, only atheists can mock the faith, others mocking the faith are just hypocrites.

BJP deserves mocking.

It seems you have put on your cape to defend Hindu extremism, despite pretending to be an atheist.

You are contradicting yourself in an attempt to rush to defence. If it is "mythology" then a government teacher shouldn't be mentioning it in a science class and then blaming British Education for withholding the information.

Yes, and now he has diverted to whataboutism about flying donkeys in Islam, and this is someone who's identity on PP is as an atheist critic of Islam. If you are an atheist then you don't need to get defensive over silly hindutva beliefs, if anything they should be your prime concern. It has always been something of a contradiction in his stance. You might claim to be an atheist, but devout Hindus believe quite understandably in the Godly attributes of Hanuman. Must be some mental gymnastics going on to be an atheist and a hindutva.

Few days back, I saw an Instagram reel where an Indian singer was claiming that the computer RAM is derived from the Indian god “Raam”.

Help me out bruv. The claim is Hanuman was the first to space traveller?

From Wiki :

Hanuman also known as Maruti, Bajrangabali, and Anjaneya, is a deity in Hinduism, revered as a divine vanara, and a devoted companion of the deity Rama. Central to the Ramayana, Hanuman is celebrated for his unwavering devotion to Rama and is considered a chiranjivi. He is traditionally believed to be the spiritual offspring of the wind deity Vayu, who is said to have played a significant role in his birth. In Shaiva tradition, he is regarded to be an incarnation of Shiva, while in most of the Vaishnava traditions he is the son and incarnation of Vayu. His tales are recounted not only in the Ramayana but also in the Mahabharata and various Puranas. Devotional practices centered around Hanuman were not prominent in these texts or in early archaeological evidence. His theological significance and the cultivation of a devoted following emerged roughly a millennium after the Ramayana was composed, during the second millennium CE.

Given the above, I put to you, how can we discuss the claim in the OP without referencing Brahmanism, Hinduism, and Hindutva?

The problem is that Hinduism has no cornerstone - so tell me what exactly are we meant to do with the OP other than to falsify it, or accept it?
