One of the greatest of all time ! he has been around forever and am truly grateful to be able to witness this man at the peak of his powers, been a fan since 2002 and he's the closest thing to Michaels I've ever seen.

Expect him to be around a lot longer then people thing given his knack for taking bumps better then others in order to ensure longevity.

Hope to see him in Manchester in November this year for the first time, hopefully the show goes on despite the recent tragedy.

Happy birthday to the best wrestler in the world today.

Still plenty more to come from him. I didn't follow him a lot in tna and in Japan. But already i can see he is in my top 10 wrestlers that I have seen in my lifetime.

Easily the best in the world, we're really lucky bro! don't know when another like him will come along.

This is one of his greatest matches:

He's been in the E a short while and has already compiled an amazing list of matches, I also reconmmend some of the newer fans to check out his work in ROH, NJPW and TNA; the man has been a global power house and adjusted to territories beyond the US/Canada such as Europe, Mexico and the East

One of my favourite wrestlers right now in WWE.Sad that he will be jobbing to Jinder Mahal in coming months

I followed him since the days of TNA and always wanted to see him in WWE and seeing him and Cena in the same ring was a dream come true

I watched him live a month ago in London. What an electric atmosphere. A good chunk of people were there just to see him, me included.. Happy birthday to the Phenomenal one!!

Happy birthday to the phenomenal one! Best in-ring performer since the great Shawn Michaels.

Great performer love his matches and his entrance is one of my favorite's right now. Can't wait to see how he performs in the MITB match.

Back in 2005 when I was in China, I had no access to WWE so used to watch TNA only on Star World. I loved him

Happy Birthday Champ

Amazing wrestler can't believe he is 40 still looks like he is in early 30's.. Best wishes to the phenomenal AJ Styles on his birthday.. Let's hope he keeps going on and on like Ric Flair

We were very lucky in the early 2000's here in the UK there was a channel on sky called "wrestling channel" number 427, it would telecast wrestling from around the world in promotions such as TNA, ROH, NJPW, AAA and even old episodes of World of Sport. TNA was all about AJ Styles, it was the house which he built with his incredible innovation; there's not a style AJ is not capable of and he can adjust to any situation which is why I always say he is the closest thing to HBK I have ever seen

Good point, which we have not touched on as much in recent times and we focus more on his talent! but man he's an athlete, he is always in phenomenal condition (pun intended :afridi ) ! has put on a fair amount of muscle as well compared to his early days, no longer looks like a CW more of a Light Heavyweight who can wrestle like a CW and HW. He loves this business I do hope he's around for a while, at the very least I expect him to have another 5 years at the top level and then maybe he can become a part-timer who is used as a box office attraction to pull in old school fans, then Vince can use him to elevate other youngsters coming through

You have the best username and pic on PP :))

Same here, the reaction at money in the bank was incredible! it was an amazing match I only disliked the screw job finish and felt they could have gone on for another 5 minutes

Looks a very solid card, I look forward to the first ever women's MITB as well

Yea nowadays I think in every sport you see fitter people compared to older days.. He can easily carry on for next 10 years if he wants the way he keeps himself fit he can be the Misbah of WWE for next 10 years with the addition of being the most talented as well.. After 45/46 he can pick and chose matches and become a part timer like lesnar only coming out on big match occasions like you said, let's see what happens.. Don't think vince would be still running for next 10 years though isn't he like 70+ already?

Do you guys remember that :))) big_gamer007 The only partner HBK could never betray LOL

Vince literally never care or if he could potentially get hit by lightening :))) truly is Satan himself

AJ is the legend. He can make anyone look good and his promo work has improved a lot.

Mic skills always been great and we saw in his 2010 run as a heel with Flair as his manager, became the first and only TNA wrestler that year to be ranked no.1 by PWI in their history. But while TNA have been good to him at times they never paid him what he deserved or treated him like a real big star despite the fact that he put them on the map. But in the WWE and Japan Styles was able to thrive better then ever given the nature of environments which were/are a lot more professional then TNA and they've given him that platform to truly showcase his versatility like never before

AJ is such a great wrestler. On the level of HBK, in my opinion, who was the greatest between the ropes of all time. CM Punk ranks just below and if Nakamura loses his shackles, he'll be superb as well.

From the younger guys, Rollins is great to watch but needs to develop a better personality.

Vince was not sure about him but that feud with Reigns really helped AJ. Reigns looked like what he always should have - a silent badass killer and AJ came across as a badass. Both came out of that feud looking really good. It should have been logical to do a double turn at MITB with Reigns and a returning Rollins but they botched it.

Man AJ puts us to shame, I couldn't move around anywhere like he does in his 40s in my prime :)))

Yeah I agree, I was confident about AJ's prospects when he came to the WWE and felt he'd get to the top eventually but the moment he had those matches at payback and extreme rules with Reigns I remember saying in the wrestling thread that there is no doubt in my mind that Vince is sold on AJ now and he'd become champion soon after. I agree that is probably my favourite feud of that year! they have amazing chemistry, wish they work a mania program in the future. And LEATHERS CONFIRMED! JOE V LESNAR! OHHH MY GOOD GAWWD IN HEAVEN!

The contract for WWE world heavyweight champion, AJ Styles, is currently slated to expire in early 2019. Styles also recently talked about in a recent interview with 97.9 The Box in Houston, and Styles hinted at possibly retiring in a “couple years.”

Styles turned 40 last June. If he plans on possibly retiring at 42 years of age, his next contract expiration would likely occur before he turns 42 in June of 2019. However, Meltzer also noted in his Observer report that aside from rare cases such as Shawn Michaels, wrestlers typically just walk away from a prime spot in the WWE like that. The suggestion is that AJ Styles could pull back to a smaller role with the company with a lighter schedule. However, Styles could always change his mind and decide to keep his career going longer if he wants.

Styles can go for as long as he wants at the top level, although talents tend to slow down in their 40's Shawn Michaels was an exception to the rule and AJ is a smart worker who knows how to take bumps properly so it's not far off to say he could remain world class for the next five years. However, in his 20 year career AJ has never had a break! it's scary, he has had some injury niggles but they were all short lived nothing really serious. So when he says that he could call it a day in a couple of years, it may well be true! so enjoy his performances while you can and try to see him live because you may never get the chance again. At the very least the company would hope he stays on as a part-timer with more of a backstage role, that's a possibility.

I think AJ will reduce his workload as he gets older. He's been in wrestling for a long time so it's clear he is passionate about wrestling. He's a safer worker and hasn't had many major injuries that I know off. He'll be around for a while.

Not sure now you know, he has been in the bizz for 20 years and has never had a long break or had a big injury lay off plus he has a young family and he was speaking of how he wants to be around his kids more often after a couple of years time.
