What's new

Have you lost faith in Pakistan Cricket?

I hung on. But lost faith 3 years ago. Enough was enough. Nothing changes. They were on the right track. Slow and plodding but I could see a strategy. But this new regime seems to be hell bent on wanting to destroy the organisation. I see no real hope. Haven't watched a game for ages.

Win or lose is part of the game.

I have lost faith in our test match cricket. But in LOIs we will bounce back.

Just a few years ago I remember watching Indian anchors who were commenting on our team reaching semi final and finals of world cups in T20.

Now we are at a low ebb.

Take the good with the bad. It's what makes sport enjoyable.

Obviously we don’t have a professional administration or system that rewards the best and most talented players but it’s always been like this. It doesn’t help when the cricket is dependant upon the sitting governments competency.

You can only lose 'total' faith if you are sure that everything is there for the players to nourish their game and still the system is not able to produce good players. The thing about PCB is that they are just after short term things, change and chop players, change a captain, change a coach, increase or decrease teams in domestic circuit etc.

No one in PCB is willing to improve the pitches used in domestic circuit, the coaching provided at domestic level, the umpiring standard at domestic level.

The club cricket in pakistan is almost non existent, there is no school cricket. If a kid wants to become a cricketer in pakistan, he doesnt know where to start. Only probably the under 19 cricket is something that os functional. I watched some clips from ranji cricket and they have pitched which have bounce and they leave grass on for the seamers help, and then they have pitches that help spinners. What do we have? Dead pitches all over pakistan, remember to create spinning tracks pakistan had to use artificial means against england and west indies. Also PCB being run by the people who dont know anything about cricket.

There is so much room for improvement in the system, instead of just makimg changes in the team staff and members, make changes at grass root levels.

The current team reflects the system we have at place.

Pakistan has kicked out the architects of those highs and this forum has celebrated their exit with grand parades.
Babar and Rizwan deserved better. They were not ATGs but they are still the highest quality players available in Pakistan.
The replacements for Babar and Rizwan are worse than the lowest performances by the two.

Things have not been right for Pak cricket۔
We used to be the land of pacers but they are injured on and off, hitting their career during their peak ages
Too much political influence led to frequent management/captaincy changes
Every chairmen in last 2 years came up with their own captain and rules
Once the team start getting used to a certain system, it is changed by the new management
We have not lost belief in Pak cricket but in the deep rooted system; that, if corrected, can see Pakistan cricket, with the same team, to new highs

the new guys have v much potential

eg, Shaheen, if given a chance to carry on his captaincy, could have done wonders but his fate was decided after a couple of series failure

We weren't merely replacing players but replacing an ideology.

Sure the execution hasn't been successful, but the steps taken were necessary.

Just because these players haven't been successful immediately doesn't mean we have to go back to the old ideology. We push forward with other players.

Rizwan and Babar have only been removed from T20. They are still in tests and ODI. Many ATG dont play this format much anyway. Root or Steve Smith legacy hasn't been dented by not playing much T20. If Babar and Rizwan want to be ATG they still have opportunities in other formats.

If we have replaced khushdil and salman for them then we are doomed

Khushdil hasn't played. He is a squad member only. He isn't a replacement for them.

Agha performance has been poor and captaincy against India was poor. He needs to take more control for sure.
