In the semis, WAPDA coasted to a fairly easy win over KRL, while HBL edged PTV.

Personally would have preferred to see PTV in the final. However, HBL have some players to keep an eye out for. Imam-ul-Haq made 85 in the previous game on his return from injury while Jamal Anwar (wk batsman) has made 88 and 119 in the last two matches. Umar Akmal has been in decent form, Agha Salman has been contributing while Amad Butt has looked good with the ball.

Meanwhile, Salman Butt has led WAPDA to the final once again. Last year, they lost to the now defunct UBL in the final. They are quite dependant on their top order (Kamran Akmal, Rifatullah Mohmand and Salman Butt) while Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Irfan, Ehsan Adil, Khalid Usman and Zulfiqar Babar form a useful bowling attack.

The last time these two teams faced each other in a List A game, WAPDA chased down 315 with Kamran Akmal hitting a double-hundred.

Thrilling final coming up, I'm sure :kakmal :butt :riaz

Hopefully Umar Akmal hits 150 for leading run scorer, that’s if salman butt goes cheaply.

WAPDA win the toss and elect to field first

Imam is truly atrocious in LO cricket - out batted by Jamal Anwar, and comfortably out batted by Farhat here.

boy Umar Akmal has gained a lot of weight

he has a massive belly

I am watching the Final today, only to see Umar batting. If this guy can't make PAK squad, then it has to be one of the best batting unit in world.

In 10 years couldn't fix problems against SLAO spin!!! Anything that spins away troubles him.

Ahaa man. Soft dismissal for Akmal. Played extremely well played some world class chord for his 50. Another good innings.

Fat, unfit slogger. Any halwa bowler spinning it away can get him out.

HBL have reached 190/5 in 36.3 overs; 1 wicket apiece for Wahab Riaz, Arshad Iqbal, Khalid Usman and Zulfiqar Babar

I checked ESPNcricinfo an hour or so ago and Umar Akmal was 50 and out I checked it now and he’s 49 and out? Is this normal for scorecards to change.

Yet every single actual analyst and commentators are in awe of the shots he can play 360 degrees around the stadium.

Then theirs you.

I think I know who I’d believe.

MMHS will not do worst as an opener than Imam though stats will not show.i ma talking about Umar Akmal.

What’s par score on this wicket? Is this a good score or is it a bad score? I fear they are 20-30 runs short of a good score.

This is the seventh 50-over game at GSL in 8 days so I had thought scores might be lower, but the last game itself had 321/314... Considering it's a final, 291 should be a competitive score. If HBL can pick up a couple of early wickets then they should win. However, Salman Butt has been in monstrous form during this tournament.

Sadly, we’re stuck with him for another 5-6 years. Give any other batsman the same fixtures that imam had and they’d have a similar or possibly greater average.

Amazing that HBL won this tournament given that they were just inches away from losing to PTV

They won a tight QF as well - both times batting first.

WAPDA team has a top 3 of 38 years average age & 4 bowlers in mid 30s to 40s & all 7 are former PAK players, so obviously when playing in “comfort zone”, they can take advantage baked in their experience but found out under pressure. Also, this Butt guy needs to be taken to task for not bowling Arshad full quota, rather give it to Wahab. Arshad was brought back for one last over & he was destined to fail then, while Butt bowled out Irfan & Wahab before.

He is better than few playing T20 for PAK - bowlers are winning games on such sluggish wickets hence every other concerns are hidden.

Fitness will be an issue for ODI/Test, but definitely can’t be worse in T20.

The best thing about this tournament was the re-emergence of Amad Butt. He looked off-colour in the PSL but here he looked to be in top form with pace and yorker. Maybe he should replace Faheem or Asif in Pakistan's team for SA series.

So you're hating on him without even seeing him bat in those more difficult fixtures that you are implying he will fail in? Your bias is heavy.

You should believe his international stats

Not hating, a player like imam would’ve been great 5-6 years ago. If Imam can’t score centuries at a run a ball v Zimbabwe C then how do we expect him to do better against the top sides?
