How will Mohammad Hafeez be remembered in cricketing history? What is his legacy?

A very stubborn cricketer, who was not a proper batsman yet always insisted on playing in the top order.

Always got humiliated.
 
Looked mentally shot today because he knows he won't survive for long on batting alone.

If Younis clicks then pressure will be on him to keep Umar and Maqsood out which he shouldn't, tbh.
 
Just doesn't have the technique.

If you continue to plant your front foot first and play around it, your not going to last very long.
 
I don't get all the hate directed at him. He's effective at what he does and has served Pakistan cricket well.

I still remember his early days back in 2003 and then in 2006 in Australia and I have been a fan since. Back then I knew he would become an important part of Pakistan cricket but unfortunately we had to wait until 2010 for him to make his long awaited comeback.

He's not a great. Far from it. He's been frustrating at times but he has had a wonderful career so far and his record speaks for itself. People can call him a minnow basher or a FTB however, fact of the matter is that he's one of a few players to achieve what he has achieved.

I wish him all the luck for his future and hope he continues to improve.
 
I have no hate towards him when I call him a minnow basher.
A soft player. I don't like soft players.
 
He will be remember as an average cricket who was lucky enough to be persisted with for 10+ Years at highest level.

Hafeez has been in terrible form recently. He'll go down as an above average player who struggled more often than not against quality pace attacks.

However I've seen much, much worse players wear the green shirt of Pakistan. But its clear its time for him to go. He's now well over the age of 30 and is looking like a sitting duck out there.

To his credit, he's generally kept his nose clean. Hasn't been involved in scandals and controversies, seems to have a decent cricketing brain on him as evidenced by his captaincy stints. Don't mind if he goes into coaching if that's what he does.

as a decent allrounder and a good servant of Pakistani cricket. Wont be remembered as a great or anything like that.

Has he done enough to be a Pakistani legend?

Afridi will be remembered as a Pakistani ODI and T-20 legend and an entertainer?

Akhtar is remembered as a Pakistani entertainer

But what about Hafeez? The minnow bully with the bat? His 10 economical overs are invaluable to the side even if he does not pick up wickets regularly but does this make him a T-20, ODI legend for us?

Funnily enough he came up with the name himself

It's like me going up to my mates oh call me so and so and that is what Hafeez did

I don't think he will be remembered,probably remembered as a good alrounder

Not every player is remembered. The ones who do not make a mark during their playing days slowly fade away into history. There were many names who played for us in the 70s, 80s and 90s but how many of them can you list from the top of your head? Only a handful I presume.

I used to think he was a decent player but he's just ruining his 'legacy' now or whatever is left of it. Retire already.
 
He's the type of person I detest the most. Someone who appears meek and humble yet plays politics and lies. People like these think they are being clever yet they do not realize that out of respect people let them get away with it. He was, is, and will be a mediocre cricketer. What benefit is the money he is earning for his children when he has ruined the careers of others? He was the highest paid contracted player in 2015 despite doing nothing except playing one innings in UAE.
 
When you are watching reruns of old games and see some players that overstayed their welcome after their first ever game - it's a very unsettling feeling.

I suspect I'll turn off TV when I see Hafeez masquerading as a Pakistan international.
 
he will be remembered a player who was all fast bowlers bunny and if he continues like this he will be remembered as big manipulator...which he he is..hypocrite ,manipulator,and blocking the development of many youngsters..
 
his past few months have shown to selfish and deluded like many before him

Promoting himself over Babar really showed us all what he is about
 
Wouldve been remembered as a very fine all rounder had he retired with Misbah and Afridi from ODIs.

He won't be remembered at all. Even if someone did name him he would be thought of as a tried and tested failure
 
One of the most economical bowlers in world cricket since making his debut in 2003. Probably in the top 3 I reckon with a rate of around 4.1 in ODIs. He should be appreciated for that.
 
Probably has over stayed his welcome in the team over the past year or so. However, he will be remembered as a key cog of whatever success we had in LOIs since 2010. One of the better all-rounders in the game for at-least half a decade.

You don't score 20 international centuries to be forgotten.
 
New Pak cricket fans don't even know what a world class player is. They think Amir is a benchmark. Lost generation.
 
a decent cricketer who was very good in LOIs for us from 2010-2014 as an all rounder. Was part of one of the best ODI spin attacks in recent memory. watching Hafeez Ajmal and Afridi choke batting attacks in the middle overs was a joy to watch. But he will be remembered as someone who overstayed his welcome esp as a batsman just like a lot of our seniors who cling onto their spot and are forcibly booted out.

I wouldnt class him as a Pak ODI great but he has had a good career esp post 2010. I remember him being the butt of me and my friends jokes for his legendary 18.60 batting average before his post 2010 renaissance.
 
Hafeez inspite of not having very good stats, you have to praise him for being a model professional off the field, the way he gives interviews to the media, no off field controversies, nothing.
 
Personally, i'll remember him for his epic battles against Dale Steyn :yk

He's never been more than a bits and pieces cricketer. Extremely mediocre with the bat and somewhat decent with the ball till he was reported for chucking.

Even though I am not a fan of Hafeez, he is a better player than Kaif anyday: Career average, SR, number of centuries, average against top teams as well...in every category he pips Kaif!

Oh, FGS, If Hafeez is a legend , then Tom, Dick , Harry and Misbah are also legend. For years we have been scream for his exit from the team and now you're making him a legend
 
Bits n piece player, who managed to have a long career which he never deserved.
 
Was good during 2010-2014 period. Should of retired post 2015 World Cup or a series after. Since then has been awful and has tarnished any positive memories of himself and will forever be known as a selfish player and played for himself opposed to the team. I wouldn't call him a professor. More like Steyn's Bunny.
 
He will be remembered as an elegant batsmen who was a good timer of the ball. Was very aggressive vs spin as well. But he will also be remembered as someone who outside of his comfort zone was made to look like a tailender.

As a bowler he'll be remembered as an economical bowler , who was very potent vs left hand batsmen.

He has carried himself well tbh but he shouldn't be playing for Pakistan anymore. He is past his best. Pakistan fans will also remember him as a selfish cricketer, who held onto his place for longer than he should have due to having good links in the media and being liked by Inzi and PCB management.

There was a reason why he went into a self imposed national oblivion from 2003-2009. You know you're tripe when you can't break into the opening position competing with Imran Farhat and Yasir Hameed!!
 
Steyn's bunny, elegant player to watch, decent fielder, vulnerable to pacy/swing bowling, when in form, great timer of the ball and big hitter
 
His downfall began in the 2013-4ish...it's time for him to hang up his...err....helmet?
 
For his lectures I think after all he is the professor.Otherwise I enjoyed his tense battle against steyn.
 
Mohd Hafeez is a great utility player, who is half decent with bat and useful with the ball but great at neither. However he's done the mistake of thinking he's much better than he actually is, and so has the team management. He shouldn't bat above 6.

Down the line, he would disappear in history. Pak has had a history of such great players that someone like Mohd Hafeez will be a nobody after he retires.
 
I'll remember him as a bottler who was bound to fail the moment he was up against a half decent attack. Only feasted on the bowling attacks of SL and WI. Decent bowler who was a vital cog in our bowling line up from 2010-2014. But these last 2 years have dented his reputation and he's fallen further in my eyes. He can't see his limitations as a batsman and destroying the balance of our team while keeping youngsters from getting a chance. Past his shelf life, and frankly he was done the moment he was reported for chucking and banned from bowling.
 
Will be known as a Selector, Team Manager, Coach and various other positions holder in PCB since his retirement till time of his death.

His playing days shall not be remembered just like no one of today knows if Muhammad Ilyas or Wajahatullah Wasti ever played for Pakistan.

A very good player to have when playing in Asia. Helped Pakistan win quite a few matches and series during his peak. Respect.
