not surprising considering cricket following in Russia and on top of that Sachin is hardly a socialite to have any name beyond cricket.

I guess when you have no worthwhile endeavors in your own life you attach your self esteem to actors/ singers/ sportsmen etc, which sort of explains this sort of reaction. Also, when you have such a massive population, a large number of idiots is guaranteed.

Like it not Cricket is a minority Sport. Cricketers are not very popular at all though they think they are!:)) Just need to compare them to Footballers, Tennis stars, Baseball players or even WWE stars!!

Cricket doesn't have global appeal, Sharapova like majority of the world probably doesn't know a single cricketer. Cricketers are not global superstars.

God, Sachin and Imran fan clubs are grossly annoying.
 
I remember reading a small snippet when sachin returned to england after his fathers death - he was asked by custom officer abt his occupation, he said he was a cricketer and was asked how did he do? he was like he did OK

IK would defo be more famous coz he is very charismatic, studied in UK - did lot of charity work and frankly, how many more world famous pakistanis out there? so he will always be a big push

Serious question, whats wrong with Sachin and Indian cricket fans in general , they seem to go full crazy over slight things. Do indians expect everyone in the world to know who Sachin is?. Most people in non-cricketing nations, would have no idea who Sachin is(or any other cricketer) is.

Happens when one loves someone so much. Some people go ape when their religion is slighted, others when their nation is insulted, and some when their idol's greatness is not acknowledged. Happens all over the world. As long as it stays on the internet, I don't see much issue tbh.

I don't know why some people are surprised. There is nothing new in people getting outraged by any "perceived" insult to what they hold dear, be it religion, nation or whatever. Why expect Sachin fans to be any different from what is common behaviour in entire south asia. On the positive side, I am glad it is limited to the internet, otherwise we have seen worse kinds of outrage.

What we dont understand is the premise behind this rage? How is it sharapova's fault that she doesnt knows your idol's name? Poor girl had no clue that there are billions of low lives ready to attack her just because she doesnt knows their idol.

In a pakistan-sri lanka match Russel Arnold made a comment, that he thinks that the Pakistani fans prayers are not enough to save the team. Pakistan won, and he had to face the outrage on twitter. Even posters on this forum were angry with him. So what was his fault that he didn't know the strength of Pakistani fans' prayers, and that there are low lives ready to attack him for that?
 
It's a moral victory for me as she has no clue about me either! Something Sachin and I share in common.

Does that mean God got angry at Russell Arnold's comments and decided to give Pakistan the victory? Was he not listening to prayers at all the other important matches recently?

That was a punishment for supporting 3 corrupt players and I think they will be punished more as people keep giving statements in favor of Amir. So don't be surprised if Pakistan lose the next world cup too.

haha no the best was earlier in the day people listing sachin's avhievement and demanding to apologize... and just spamming her wall by writing sachin a million times...

What i dont get is dont they get made fun of my their circle. Atleast on twitter you can mantain a generally anonymous activity log. But here you can check their profiles and everything. And they are actual ppl with facebook history going back yeats. lot of them from kerala lol.. I was so interested and shocked at the same itme that i ended up spending a good 15 mins checking out who these actual ppl are

Hahaha you should start giving classes on how to spin the facts. Russel Arnold made a direct remark regarding the Pakistani fans. Maria Shrapova just said that she didnt know who sachin tendulkar is when asked. I dont know how you equate the both situations and try to justify your stereotypical, awful, pathetic and garbage behavior.

The difference is of mere semantics. Why should pakistani fans be offended if Arnold does not share their beliefs? Why were they insecure if he did not believe that their prayers can make any difference? Why is irrational reverence towards religion OK, and irrational reverence towards a public figure not?

Yes sunshine, I acknowledged that difference in semantics. But you don't see the similarity between both cases. One was ignorant about others power of prayers, and the other was ignorant about the fame of the person. Why are you justifying the outrage of one over the other? Why such double standards?

Your wrong. While any abuse against Russell Arnold is condemnable, the two are not equatable as your trying to make them out to be. Arnold in a Sri vs Pak game said that even prayers were not going to help Pakistan win. He clearly meant that Pakistan doesn't have any chance of winning but in the end Pakistan won the match. I don't know about anybody else but for me it was no more than an lol worthy moment.

All Sharapova did was state a fact but some people don't seem to recognize that.
