Pakistan is set to face Bangladesh in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on February 27, 2025, at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. This match is crucial for Pakistan, who are currently struggling after losing their first two matches in Group A, including a significant defeat to India.

They lost their opening match to New Zealand by 60 runs and faced a tough loss against India, leaving them with no points and a challenging path to the semifinals. To qualify, they need to beat Bangladesh convincingly and hope for favorable results in other matches involving New Zealand and now have faced a fiasco against India.

Bangladesh's Recent Form: Bangladesh has also had a rough start, losing their opening match against India. They will be looking to bounce back against Pakistan, who they previously lost to in a warm-up match earlier this month.

Key Players to Watch for fans: Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi. Babar is crucial for stabilizing the batting order, while Afridi's bowling can be pivotal in taking early wickets.

Bangladesh: Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan are key figures. Miraz's all-round capabilities can influence both batting and bowling performances.

This match only becomes interesting if Bangladesh beat NZ tomorrow. Let’s see what happens.

If NZ win tomorrow, this becomes a dead rubber

Whole nexus along with aqib should be sacked after ct.
Time to invest in modern day players.
Guys like @Kianig89 cant run an agenda to bring Rizwan in as captain this time like they did when Shan was captain who lost to Bangladesh at home

FGS Rizwan and Babar should sit out of bd match and allow big teeth usman and kg play.

Pakistan's back is against the wall. They need a near-miracle to advance, a situation that often transforms them into formidable "cornered tigers." Bangladesh, facing a crucial clash on February 27th in Rawalpindi, should be wary.

If New Zealand defeats Bangladesh on the 24th, the match on 27th loses its qualification significance, but Pakistan will still fight for pride.

However, a Bangladesh victory over New Zealand sets up a high-stakes showdown. Then, the "cornered tigers" will be hunting, and Bangladesh, now aware of the danger, will be the "concerned tigers." That potential clash promises a thrilling spectacle. Personally, I'm backing the relentless cornered tigers.

Let us hope the rain doesn't rob us the fun!

Pakistan are favorites. Home team and with a superior batting side.

BD only edge ahead in bowling department probably. :inti

We recently drew with west indies in a test series to finish bottom of the test table
Hopefully if we pick Usman over imam and see the new ball Bd bowlers off, we can keep our ranking to qualify for the next CT

no BD is looking better on paper compare to Pakistan... they have balanced combination which can Test this useless Pakistan side

I still think home advantage should be a factor for Pakistan. Also, they are hurting after losing to NZ and India. I expect Pakistan to try extra hard.

Whatever happens, I hope we will see a good game. Nothing one-sided. :inti

Domestic games should not be played at ICC tournaments.

No interest... PLay whoever you wanna play.. Might as well make Shaheen and Babar open.

Best of luck to both teams. We will probably be also out of the tournament today. This match will become a face saving match only

I would love to see a thriller so that both team can at least end on something positive but I don't think we currently have the team to challenge Pakistan. Still you never know..it's Pakistan anything can happen

If BD can beat kiwis , they will beat Pakistan as well.
If I was BD coach , I would play three spinners against Pakistan , I think that is enough to restrict Pakistan.

Pak should be very wary of Ban now. We will have nothing to lose and everything to gain in this match..our kids will be on fire to go and play

Pak will gain nothing from this win but if BD wins our fans will declare we have won the CT. Our kiddy players knows this and they will give 100% to win and go back to Bangladesh to enjoy gifts from government

Pakistan's ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squad arrives in Islamabad from Dubai

The national squad will practice at Islamabad Club tomorrow ahead of their final match of the tournament against Bangladesh on February 27.

Usman
BabaR
Saud (cant even think of hitting a six)
Rizwan
Kamran (no idea why tayyab was preferred)
Salman
Kushdil
Shaheen
Naseem

yeah match is in rawalpindi and i have noticed both times Bangladesh lost some early wickets but receovered well from there so somehow if they manage to score 260 plus runs, i m sure pak wont be able to chase that.

If Saim and Fakhar were available, Pakistan should've won easily.

Without these two, Pakistan have a disadvantage.

Anyway, hoping for a good game. :dav

Might catch this game just for fun, but insane how both have been absolutely dismissal.

The final showdown , after the abject surrender. Faheem Hasnain and Usman should play

Imam
Usman
Saud
TT
KG
Agha
Khusdil
Naseem
SSA
Abrar
Hasnain

GIVE BENCH FULL STRENGTH, but I am afraid may be they will not, as they are selfish and afraid, ideal 11:

4- Rizwan
5- Kamran
6- Salman
7- Khushdil

Hopefully both teams can give each other a farewell guard of honour in this match

I think this should be the final game for both Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah. They have been playing since 2005-2007 (Mushi debuted in 2005 and Mahmudullah in 2007).

Hopefully BD team will give them a guard of honour. :inti

This tournament is so badly scheduled I just cannot understand.

It should simply be Pool A one day and Pool B the second day. Then Pak make their own schedule but they go Karachi, Dubai, Pindi adding needless travel for themselves & give BD two matches straight in Pindi & Lahore with very little traveling in between. India play all their matches in UAE, no travel whatsoever. Two teams are eliminated & then there are 4 teams that have just played one match.

The tournament opener could easily have been Eng vs. Aus & Pak could have played their first match in Dubai and then got the travel out of their system, would have given them some time to practice in UAE as well.

I get tired of these basic things tbh, it just makes me think that there's no intelligence or acumen anywhere in the PCB. Also reminds me of the Asia cup when some clown decided to have one match in Colombo and then in Lahore and then back to Colombo like geez, where are the brains in the think tank?

InshaAllah guard of honour for Rizwan too

I think they should think out of the box and make some batting changes ...bringing Naseem before Shaheen would be a start.
As for the other 7, well we can only hope.

This schedule was made by bcci
See how they play the last match and have a week gap
Meanwhile other teams travelling here and there
What a farce
Now imagine a final in Dubai :facepalm

India get preferential treatments always. Despite all these pamperings, they only won 1 ICC trophy in 12 years.:inti

ICC events nowadays are quite farcical. ICC plays as the 12th man for India.

Ngl, the horse & cattle show that Pak is these days, I prefer a final in UAE. Ind vs. Nzl will be the perfect final to cap of this tournament. I don't want a final in Lahore anymore.

They should test their bench strength in a dead rubber, but the need to statpad when the pressure is off will be too much I fear

If final is in Dubai, that would be very absurd. Pakistan is the host. Not UAE.

I hope India will get knocked out in semi. :inti
That's the spirit, absolute scummy team with scum management, hope they get pumped silly.

Match likely to get washed out

Might as well get ICC special approval and shift to Lahore or Karachi. Game is a dead rubber and effects nothing in the group or tournament

Just like the 350 run eng aus game this game promises to be the 240 run thriller between two evenly matched sides.
For future they could reduce champtipns trophy to 6 teams no point having extra teams with no chance of winning title.
Maybe make it a 6 team tourney or 5 team round Robin style. Like hockey champions trophy.

If it is a 6-team tournament, many established teams may miss out (West Indies, Sri Lanka, and maybe even Pakistan).

I think 8 is good. 2 groups of 4 teams.

Pakistan by playing Imam ahead of Usman showed they've got no confidence in Usman.

Why then select a player who's barely played the format and just on the basis of 5-6 games and he wasn't in the frame for the 3 series they played leading into the CT.

They should play Usman, Faheem and whoever is left on the bench in this dead rubber but they likely won't as Babar needs a 50-100 at home.

CT should be 10 teams, WC 14 teams. 8 teams is absurd - Lanka and WI could had easily done well in Asia

But that's what world cup is for. I think for champions trophy goal should be to have only the top teams and determine the best from them. It's not intended to give exposure to all teams.

Hence a 5 or 6 team contest will ensure competitive games and get the best of best determined.

You could consider a qualifying round to select the sixth team. Maybe a tri series for 3 teams.

Another option, make it that whoever the odi world champion is gets to host and invite the next 3 top sides to play a challenge cup to prove they are champion side. Or another idea, add a new series champions challenge 3 match series world champion Vs a team composed from rest of world or rest of semi finalists.

If there are 6 teams, I guess you can have 2 groups of 3 teams each.

Group A: Team 1, Team 2, Team 3 (winner goes to final)
Group B: Team 4, Team 5, Team 6 (winner goes to final)

After giving it another thought, I think it is not a bad idea.
