What's new

ICC CT 2017, Group A | England [240/4] beat Australia [277/9] by 40 runs [DLS method]

Looks like, English hooligans has a double pub day coming ........... shortly, ENG is going to take on Scotland at Hampden park

Aussies getting a drubbing.
This awaits us, if we end up going to the semis.
Congrats to Bangladesh.

If Aussie bowlers get slaughtered when there is counter attack then Why blame Indian bowlers against SL? These days team needs to score extra 20 runs to provide cushion to bowlers. And Australia has scored below par here.

Would really like for India now to dominate tomorrow's game and show people why they were rated so highly for this tournament.

After an eye-opening loss, the narrative has completely changed and now wouldn't be as bad a time as any to show their credentials and prove their mettle by beating SA and then going on to beat Bangla and finally England.

The 2nd ranked team knocked out today, tomorrow the 1st ranked team will be knocked out, Asian Domination :aag:

Today, Maxi actually cost AUS most - killed the entire momentum, which resulted in a bunch of wickets ...

Who will reach 100 first. Morgan or Stokes

My money is on Stokes

The flicked on drive through mid-on & mid wicket, hit on the rise. One of the toughest shots of the game - last I saw Lara playing. Mark Waugh was good as well, Azhar (Uddin) as well, if the ball was below knee level .....

Yup it was a great shot and true remember Mark playing that.

Calm down !!! The Aussies had destroyed the bangladeshi lineup in the earlier game . Rain came to your rescue. Be humble and realistic . Bangladesh have been the weakest team in the competition but it would be great to see them make their first semi final . Good for the game.

Weakest team?!!!! They earned a brilliant win against NZ,scored 305 which England had to cross not before 47 plus overs.

Can be an all Asian Final ........

Anyone who gets in the way of England would be crushed except for finals where they can choke :)). England in final is guaranteed. But Asian team will win it.

World class innings from a world class player. Robbed off a hundred.

Nah bro don't think so, England will wipe the floor with whoever they face on the semis

Every match is a new game - SAF could have won that ODI series from 0-1 down. Tough to beat them defending, but it's possible to chase 300 against ENG.

Australia is an entirely different unit when they sniff any chance of victory, that RUN-OUT could very well cost England this game.

True we had a poor performance. A couple of decision going against our favor and the novelty factor facing Hazelwood Starc and Cummins. We did better against other two sides because we were familiar to them.

However I am not denying that Australia is a much better side.

Hey man no offense, but don't bring Bangladesh into every conversation. Because of fans like you we get a bad name, last time Bangladesh beat Australia was back in 2005, this is an England vs Bangladesh game. So stick to it here instead of singing praises of your crush/manlove

It's risky to field in short cover, when Buttler is batting :(

Sorry but not this time! We will beat you tomorrow!!
#protea fire!
S.A have a better side for sure but will they choke again? That is the big question,a win tomorrow means a direct entry to the final for India or S.A whoever wins,so there is your extra motivation, expecting a cracker tomorrow!!!

70 off 92 balls and Stokes is still in.

Surely this will be a stroll now.

Hold your horses. India might get the better of SA tomorrow but you can forget about beating England.

Ben Stokes batting in ODI cricket since the start of last year :

1078 runs @ 58.89 with a SR of 108.

England clear favourites. I don't know why people said Australia were since they have no middle order batsmen and it showed.

shaz619 and Big Mac keeping a longer silence than a monk in a monastery after Rashid takes a 4-fer on their own patch and outperforms the local hero :))

I was out playing cricket myself :yk2

To those who are upset at BD going thru, AU also never deserved it. After losing to Eng this bad, and getting help on a rainy day Vs NZ, they displayed that they are not that special. Out of 3 games, they were outclassed by 2 opponents.

Australia had a weak middle order like us, failed to get 320+ when they had the platform set.

To be fair to Aus, they had Bangladesh beat and didn't really have much match time going into the England match.

I know they would have gone thru if they had that win against BD, that still leaves them with 2 bad performances which will not win any empathy.

The middle to lower order batting was always going to be a worry for Oz unless one of the top three was there till the end. Stupid to drop Faulkner would have been very handy in these conditions. Stoinis, Henriques and Wade useless selections. Lynn not convinced just yet of his credentials in international cricket but still would have been a better bet on these tracks than Henriques or Stoinis. Bailey should have been there as well as back-up. Scored a brilliant unbeaten 140 odd for Hampshire few weeks back so still plenty left in the tank.

Finch
Warner
Smith
Head (wk)
Lynn/Bailey
Maxwell
Faulkner
Starc
Cummins
Zampa
Hoff

Now that would have been a heaps better line-up without a doubt.
