What's new

ICC CT 2017, Group A | England [240/4] beat Australia [277/9] by 40 runs [DLS method]

Its not only about Aussie mentality but their bowling attack is top notch, Starc,Harzlewood,Cummins coming one after the other.

Their batting is hold/cold dependent upon Smith.

I think, surviving new ball had been the key so far. It gets considerably easy after 20 overs.

Very true, looks like this might end up like BD and Lankan chase, ball coming nicely to the bat, backing Starc to comeback though.

After seeing the last two matches don't think India's first 10 overs strategy is wrong, but from 30-35 overs and 40-50 overs is defn worrisome because of weak middle order.

Warne speaks as if he is the greatest tactician Aus ever produced luckily for Aus there was Steve,Ponting and then Clarke.

He is indeed one of the best cricket minds, but his entire thought process is on how to get a batsman out, rather than an all-round focus. He would have been a brilliant Test Captain like Benaud.

Nice SIX, top edged stroke ...........

How Nas is sure that Poms are going to take PAK/SRL in SF?

Wow BD qualifying to Semis would be absolutely mental considering they were in a very difficult group to begin with. Also, we were almost out against Aus. I guess sometimes you need a bit of luck...

I don't agree, maybe on field, but everytime he is on commentary he is wrong so many times about the player, see this time it was Cummins.

If PAK/SRL wins by 170 runs or inside 25 overs, does that NRR still remains negative?

England might be going through a revival in LOI,if Stokes,Wood and Root can inspire cricketers it will be amazing.

doesnt matter, Eng will have a field day with either of those teams.

They got bundled out against Proteafire for 150 odd before the tournament, Root & Hales already failed, Roy loves batting against Pakistan so England will come good. Only team that can challenge England are Aussies, so yeh

Aussie Ozzie pack ur bags when was the last time performed badly in a ICC tourney 92 2011 :13:

You can't contain this batting line up for such target. Have to go all attack and take wickets.

In every team there is a Wahab Riaz

Aus : Cummins
Saf: Wahab Parnell
India : Umesh
Bangladesh: Taskin
Eng: Ball
Pakistan : :wahab
SRL: Perera
Kiwis: Corey

Saffers are the great ODI XI if billaterals are to be considered, doesn't work the same way in ICC tourneys,England is looking good.

I think, there is a bit confusion on NRR calculation - how it works.

Let's take a scenario, that SAF beats IND by 10 runs in a 50 over match (no rain), after scoring 353

After 3 matches, their NRR will be + 0.685

Now, SRL batting first scores 170/10 (49'2)

To cross SAF's NRR, PAK's target will be in 15'5 overs (if they score 171), if 176 (that's a SIX to win from scores at level) target will be in 16'4 overs.

Or opposite, PAK bats first & scores 319 - they have to restrict SRL at 134 to cross SAF ..........

I would rather face SA/SL/Pak than India in QF.

India are the better side in these situations. So tho I like Indian batting I am gonna root for rain tomorrow Lol.

Well bowled by Rubel Hossain today. Well supported by Fizz and Taskin. Shakib bowled really well. Our fielding was a bit sloppy with Taskin dropping a couple of wicket.

Our openers failed today once again and Mushy met a Jaffa but Riad and Shakib are giving them Aussies a counterpunch.

He becomes too emotional (sometimes even to people who'll share a beer with him).

Before his scandals, sometimes in 1998 or '99, he was appointed Captain of AUS in WSC, in absence of Taylor - I believe he won all but one match & his Captaincy was outstanding.

You are posting in the wrong thread and a day late too :inti

Australia just batted poorly today at the end. 277 and I am sure even Bangladesh would have chased it down given our players have already faced starc Hazlewood Zampa once

Fair enough, but in that logic Gilly actually got Aus(captained) the final frontier (India),and he was impressive as well, maybe from a bowling pov Shane gets a lot of credit because he gives a "reason" for it,that reason always doesn't seem feasible.

Bit of a pasting so far, Aussies need a couple of wickets here otherwise this is going to be over pretty quickly
