Hick could play genuine pace. He simply was not tough enough for international cricket i think - something Steve Waugh has pointed out. I don't think he had major technical flaws per se.

His technique is front-footed, not suited for AU style cricket. I think, they have picked him for his spin playing capacity. Should have picked Praveen Amre for that instead.

Going to be interesting to see what happens on the rare chance everyone's fit come the start of the test summer as you'd assume Anderson, Broad, Woakes and Stokes are nailed on as the 4 seamers. A place will most likely open up though presumably with Anderson and Woakes injured.

Wood's issue is staying fit. His action places a lot of stress on his ankle. But he's easily one of the quickest bowlers in the country.

Will never forget that Durham v Yorkshire T20 Blast semi-final last year when he caused Joe Root all sorts of trouble.
