What's new

ICC Under-19 World Cup | New Zealand Under-19s v Pakistan Under-19s

Wouldn't really rely on Cricinfo too much. They have Mohammad Zahid down as fast medium!

That's if Cricinfo's info is right. I don't trust them very much when it comes to such details. That's why i wanted to know if anyone had seen him bowl.

I guess we will have just have to wait till the 20th.. that is when Pak play their quarterfinal (assuming they win this match)..

OK Guys sorry was a bit tied up this morning and then been busy taking pictures and talking with coach Sabih Azhar.

Anyways you all know the score so don't need to tell you that.

What did happen though. Ehsan Adil once again had a dropped catch at the start of the day. Seems to be a pretty unlucky chap. Had some drop balls last game I watched too.

Zia picked up the first wicket which was an edge and catch taken by Saad Ali at second slip.

Then Carter fell to a fine nick through to the keeper off Gohar's bowling. Young who had hit a six off Gohar earlier over cow corner was the last one to fall with an lbw to Nawaz

Since then they've managed a 50 partnership which came up last over. O'Donnell steps down the ground and hits Usman over his head.

How does Ehsan Adil look pace wise? Faster than Zia?

How quick does Zia look? Quicker than the rest of the bowlers? & quicker than the Australians which we played a few weeks back?

That English bowler (I forget his name) looked pretty quick. Zia is probably quicker than the Aussies.

Raza Hasan missed qualifying for this tournament by a month (turned 20 in July)! He would have been a great ace up our sleeve here!

hey genghis since your up close, in your opinion do any of these pakistani players have the talent and temperment to suceed at the international level for pakistan?

Zia was hitting 140s in the T20 match that brought all the hype. I hope he continues to build on his bowling and adds movement along with he pace. Could be a great new ball partner for Junaid.

Great over by Qadir. Zafar finishes with the better figures but great by both. 14 overs left.

Babbar Azam is one I'd bet my house on. Saw him in the last WC as well. He's as cool and relaxed as one can be. Ice in the veins. Very different from the likes of Jamshed, Shehzad, and Umar Akmal.

He has graduated to the big boys league now.. would have looked like a man amongst boys..

Sami Aslam quick to react as the Kiwis take off for a run. Direct hit and big appeal. Umpire says he's in. That must have been pretty close.

Damn! Raza is actually 3 days younger than him! Don't know why the PCB didn't include him. Guess he's more of a professional than an amateur cricketer now. Must have something to do with the Spirit of the game.

Yes but the question is why is a 20 year old allowed to play in an U-19 tournament? I don't understand.

It's very strange but I guess they have a certain deadline for the age. If you're still 19 by the time the squads are submitted then they probably allow you to play. Just guessing here.

Sorry guys it was Ehsan bowling. Zia was just shining the ball.

Bowled him! Ehsan you beauty! Hits the top of off stumps. Reward for some good bowling by Ehsan.

Don't see who he could replace. All bowlers have done well, especially the spinners.

These guys have done well but Raza would have been a massive upgrade over all of them. Anyway, I'm happy to see these guys getting a chance. Was just making an observation.

Not sure how current this is but found this:

To compete in the ICC U19 CWC Players from Full Member countries must be
under the age of 19 on the 1st of September before the event takes place and
Players from Associate or Affiliate Member countries must be under the age of 20
on the 1st of September before the event takes place. (For the avoidance of doubt
this means that at midnight (in the country of birth) at the changeover from the
31st August to the 1st of September immediately before the event, players from Full Member countries must be under the age of 19 and players from Associate
and Affiliate Member countries must be under the age of 20. If Members are
in any further doubt as to the eligibility of a player they should contact ICC
offices as fielding an ineligible player is a serious offence.)

Great stuff by Zia. That's two wickets to him now. Hopefully he'll wrap up the tail now and grab him self a five-fer! Well done!

Zia is two short off the leading wicket taker now. Leading wicket taker is from Afghanistan. Most likely Afghanistan won't go through to the next stage therefore Zia has a chance to top the leading wicket taker charts. Hopefully he does that.

And I think Babbar Azam is the second highest run scorer.
