ICC World Cup 2023: India (274/6) defeat New Zealand (273 all out) by 4 wickets

Good score for NZ on a tough pitch.

This will take some chasing. India’s bowling attack is phenomenal.

Kuldeep is our strike weapon even ahead of Bumrah :)
People don't understand this. Bumrah won't play always, will miss more game than he'll play. Kuldeep will be the one who'll keep us in good stead

A strange trend in this WC so far is that except for South Africa against SL & ENG, no team is scoring more than 6 an over in the last 10. England with 6-7 wickets in hand only scored 60 odd against Bangladesh in a very good wicket. Same with Australia against PAK, and the current game.

Indians should re think playing shardul..is he really worth having for 20 runs max. And then he gives away 80? Vs shami?
Thakur would've been smashed for 110 today with a solitary snap of a hapless tailender who looked to smash him out of the ground. He is as useless as it gets. I don't know what jugaad he's done to the management and captain to get picked.

The ball before was hitting range, but brilliantly played Mitchell. Well done Mohammad Shami for the 5fer!. Can’t believe they left him out all this time.

Hope fully that trend will change when india get to bat first at some stage :afridi

Apparently it's 2nd fifer for Shami in wc.. and last time he picked a fifer (in wc) he was dropped very next game..

ENgland bowling was garbage. They were bowling to Jansen. They could have easily stifled him if they knew how to bowl yorker. That tall guy before bringing down the bat would have been bowled.

Hoping our batsmen do not fluff our lines now.
If we limit the damages in the first PP, chase is well and truly on.

NZ had scored 68 of the last 14 losing 6 wickets. That's the match. 300 could've been a match winning total, but now the'll lose after fighting. India to win it in the 47/48th over with 3/4 down.

What happens to shami in Odi WCS suddenly he turns a Beast
Except wasim akram I don't think so any Asian fast bowler can match shami and Zaheer khan heroics in worldcup.

Game On🔥🔥
Great comeback from India 🔥🔥

Playing all four Shami, Siraj, Kuldeep and Bumrah together means our tails starts from number 6.

Better drop Siraj next match for Shami and stick with the same plan of playing 6 bowlers (Ashwin/Shardul)

Been aknowledging it for the last 3-4 years. The Indian seamers are the best in the world in all conditions.

Lol india is funny. Leaving out shami for 2019 semi final. Must regret that.

Playing shardul means you will be chasing 330 and Thakur wono't contribute more than 10 runs

Its so pathetic to see Thakur in place of Shami at WC, of all the places.

I'm expecting some good swing under the lights. If our batsmen can somehow negate that and dew arrives, the slowness of the surface can be negated.

I wouldn't mind losing few wickets upfront though. I want to see our middle order chase it against NZ.

Even on flat tracks Shami has the ability to bowl such pearlers. Because he can't bat as well and Siraj has been in form he is unfairly finding himself out. For many sides he will be the opening bowler

I have seen this before. Restricting NZ to a supposedly avg score and then the top order getting blown by Boult and Henry. After that Santner choking whatever life is left.

L

Lol their pace attack is on par with SA. No chance unless it's a patta and spinners get attacked.
SA batting first scored 300+ every match. But it’s at Eden Gardens so we don’t know if they will make slow turning wicket to stop SA. Ind v Eng at Lucknow, seems batting wicket, England must win situation so if they bat first will have to get 300+

Indian fielding was pathetic today. Drops, lot of run out misses. They have to improve in that area to go all the way. These are elementary mistakes

If I were an india supporter I would want this; bumrah siraj shami or prasidh
Bring in ashwin for batting depth. Remove sky who is a hack. Get pandya back in once he returns from injury.

It's our fault, we never valued our bowlers. They were always considered as passengers in our team by fans. And to t
Fan's credit, we never had a fast bowler super hero.

Kapil Dev is remembered as our first world cup winning captain more than a fast bowler.

Bumrah is the guy who would become the torch bearer for the next gen of fast bowlers. They would watch his yorkers on YouTube.

You have the best pace attack along with SA. But seems like india loves their batsmen more. Unlike us we value our cake boys despite bowling filth.

Thakur belongs to the 90's England ODI squad that had Elham, Cork, Holliock, Rony Irani & other mediocre players. Damn that was a bad side England had in those days🤣🤣🤣

What was those idiots SKY and Bumrah doing in the field? Apparently looking cool is priority for them than being functional.

SA bowling is not an all phase attack, all pitch attack. KUsal Mendis destroyed SA bowling in 10 overs. They will also travel in the end overs.

Shami adds lot more quality depth to India bowling. He wasn’t playing because they fancied and went for the bowling alr Thakur who is so mediocre

Coetze ngidi rabada jansen
Bumrah siraj shami pandya

This is the battle. Edge to SA cause of pandya who isn't a proper bowler. Although he can compensate with batting.

My bad , Malinga definately legend and one of best Asian fast bowler in Wc
My order for Asian fast bowlers in Wc
1. Wasim
2. Zaheer khan
3. Malinga
4. Shami
Shami can Eclipse all of them if India win this wc and Bumrah Will definately join this club after this wc.

It does spin with bounce in Lucknow which also happens to have decent sized boundaries. Proper black soil surface.

I'll be very interested to see how England go. With bazball imploding rapidly in this wc, Indian spinners indeed will be very interested.

If they win the WC then for sure shami and bumrah only below wasim.

Also guys watch out..Travis Head is back.

Aus will be back stronger than ever.

Imran Khan, Kapil dev Forgot these 2 legend.

In the BD game BD openers early on took Thakur well but then took the foot of the gas after some cheap wickets. Thakur has been lucky not going for 80+ runs of his 10. If he does play against SA or Eng he sure will be targeted the most!

Kusal Mendis can destroy any attack in the world. He is a generational talent, and would have been heavily hyped playing for a stronger side.

Thing is jansen being that semi AR has boosted them.

Agreed not on all pitches. Pace friendly ones they can match india.

It was not just him towrds the end even Kasun Rajitha was thrashing SA bowlers lol They don't have skills in ODIs to last full 50 overs. We saw that against INdia's b string. Kishan, Iyer, Samson thrashed tehm all over.

Even when india tours SA next they should employ all 4 fast bowlers. No thakur. Just have 6 proper batsmen who play bounce well. 7 can be jadeja.

For the SA test series, I reckon that will be a cracker. Wonder if india will drop thakur and go with 4 quicks?

India tries to have that 8th batsman just in case scenario. I would be okay with that, if that batsman at 8 is a decent batsman who can bowl. In current form Thakur with bat is not a huge upgrade over Shami with bat. Deepak Chahar is a much better batsman in LOIs.

Thakur in Tests is different. They are not going to attack him. He swings both ways. He took 7 wicket haul there in SA in one of the innings.

Always find it weird how odi and test makes so much of a difference for a bowler. If anything you would think odi should be a cake walk for a test bowler

He did take wickets bur honestly he is a bit short for those pitches. Someone like prasidh would extract lot more bounce and would be deadly in my opinion.

Old ball going soft making it tough to hit. Also saw reverse swing in some of the games, maybe because of abrasive outfields?

You are not going to see Pietersen, Elgar thrashing off length balls.

Chasing can prove to be difficult here, an in form South Africa were pinned down by even a Netherlands bowling attack.
Boult and Henry could yet make this difficult, but India has arguably the best batting lineup to counteract the threat.
Could be in for the tournament's first nailbiter here.
