ICC World Cup 2023: India (274/6) defeat New Zealand (273 all out) by 4 wickets

The mark of a champ is one who learns from their mistakes and comes back improved
Kulli 's first five ov went for 48. last 5 for 22. He varied his pace and i felt he just bowled more relaxed adn focussed.
for all the talk of going into shell etc, he found a way to win and that's what champions do.
Credit where its due

Rohit in past 2 years the way he's batted is making a case for ODI ATG, thought he would be our version of Hasim Amla tbh
Insult to compare Rohit to Amla. Rohit owned the 2019 WC like nobody's business, 5 100s against quality opponents. Amla failed in all world cups, even in group games, even against minnows.

Boult should bowl from the other side of wicket. Thats when he is dangerous. Swinging in to right handers.

Oh bhai, why do you keep bringing in test into odi.

Their different formats altogether and have their own style of play.

Younis Khan was a test atg, even the most blind haters can't deny how much of a goat he was in test and a solo match winner.

But he was horrible in odi.

Rohit is a goat in odi, a genuine atg and has played innings literally no in sa can play minus de Villiers.
Being a test great is much harder to achieve than odi though. You become a legend only when you perform in tests.

With a batting average of 46? He was a good Test batsman. To be a legend, you have to be something more than that.
He played for too long and it hurt his figures. At his absolute best he was great.

Kp also averages under 50 and he is easily the best ever English player in tests.

Dangerous for India. Santner. Rohit and Gill. If they are going to get out it would be to this man.

I still think there is something in wicket....our guys have to be super careful
fergusson would be tought to get away as well
50 up is a good start...so far good going

This Indian team seems to me an impossible team to beat in Indian home condition. All these bowlers are as familiar to Indian batsman just as the bowlers of gully moholla street cricket. Cause: IPL. India will get the benefit of IPL this world cup. I think India is going to win this world cup and they should dedicate this world cup to IPL.

India is definitely going to win the cup. Not sure anyone can spring a surprise in knockouts. Perhaps Australia can if they can bring in travis head and they come with momentum. Pakistan was unstoppable in t20 2021 untill we faced Australia in knockout

IPL has narrowed the gap with others because even SENA players are used to Indian weather, venues, pitches, cuisine, people.

That's his problem. VVS Laxman averages 46, and he played some of the best innings of his time. Yet, he is an Indian great, not an ATG. KP averaged just a shade below 50 and he manhandled guys like McGrath and Warne, and demolished bowling attacks. Amla was an one dimensional accumulator. Big difference between him and KP.

What? No, Their different formats and your Viewed as a legend based of the format you play.

Sachin and virat aren't considered atg's because their just odi legends, virat is an all format legend with Sachin dominating even before the t20 era.

YK the test atg was clowned by the entire media for being selected in odi 2015 cup cause everyone knows he's a odi fraud.

Test format is harder in that the ball gets softer older and much harder to get away as well as long grueling time spent on the crease, but it's also easier in that, you can more or less go at snails pace as well for milestones. Unless it's a wtc, no one cares too much about test wins or draws. Theirs less overall pressure in the format.

Odi is easier with the 2 new balls rules but theirs far more emphasis and pressure to play according to the situation and adjust your game, something saud and Abdullah atm are clearly having trouble with, the aggressive field settings also make things tougher.

Both formats are apples and oranges, Theirs a reason some succeed in one format and fail in other formats, case in point being YK.

Amla isn't a failure in odi, but he isn't even fit to lace rohit's boots if you compare their odi forms lol.

Bhai t20 is different than ODIs.
By the way, India's real world cup starts from knockouts.
Even our half decent side can make semis of most of the world tournaments.

India playing like Australia of 2003 and 2007 World Cups, especially 2007 Australia.

Actually India playing like India of 2017 CT and 2019 WC. People forget how dominant we were in those 2 tournaments as well in group stages. The problem comes in knock out games and here's hoping it changes this time around.

This is the core of our frustration as Indian fans, the team is so good in the last 6-7 years, we should have won everything (bar England in white ball),

but lady luck has just been unkind to these hard working Indian cricketers that they just do not cross the line.

India lost to Sri Lanka in 2017 group stage.

In 2019 we probably got lucky with the washout against NZ and Eng humiliated us. Even Afghans almost beat us.

kind of SA we are now.

Tests especially winning away is much much harder. You can be an odi legend sure. But tests legneds are the true VIPs because they performed in the hardest format.

Pressure? Ha what bro lol. There is insane pressure when you play tests. Winning an away series in sena especially for Asian teams is as good as it gets.

Rohit in 2019 scored 5 hundreds against quality oppositons 💀. How is he a soft run scorer.

Also nice troll with that viru argument lol.

2019 wc was definitely a turnaround.

Viru argument was not trolling, I don't rate top order innings where they unnecessarily tuk tuk to build their innings.
