We dont have luxury of players who can power hitting like SA or build innings like Indians. We are mostly just just trying to to hope and pray someone clicks.
 
Only minor hope we have is that the Netherlands scored 249 and then the Saffers put themselves under pressure and lost...but Scott Edwards is 10 times the Kuptaan Babar is...
 
If there's any team they need to take this deep against its SA.
Put up a decent score and expect them to choke. They got a bit of mental block against Pak in ICC events like NED.
 
So far there is no real turn on the offer despite the dryness. May get difficult as the game goes on.
 
Knowing how Babar struggles against left arm orthodox I am surprised Shamsi hasn't been introduced yet

It’s because South Africa has an insane record when batting first in recent times, but have been vulnerable when chasing. Including against Netherlands.
 
Actually not a bad idea batting first in this heat. You will be exhausted when you come out to bat.

It's not the toss decision, the pitch is fine for batting. Just a mix of poor shot selection and lack of intent.

Plus just look at SA's totals batting first...

Forget about SA. You play to your strengths. Pakistan have always been awful at setting targets v good teams and now they don't have the bowlers to defend
 
Agent Bavuma doesn't seem worthy of a spot in this team. Hope I don't end up eating my words lol.

Fair but the like you said we don’t have good bowlers. The alternative could also be SA smashing 400 and batting us out of the game right away.
 
Chacha is fine, don't be overly critical of him. He's medicore but he's the only batsmen in the squad who plays for the team and does his best to attack and play to modern standards.

And tbf rizzu's innings today wasn't bad. He got put but he was trying.

Abdullah and imam are 2 clowns I hate. Imam especially but Abdullah is someone I clearly shouldn't have backed. Massive mistake made.

Theyr not playing to there strength scared SA might bat them out of the game so took the safe option
 
Pakistan cricket fans need to decide what they want from the team. It is either stabilization or it's a show of intent. There is less probability of losing your wicket if you play safe but odd gets higher once you show intent. As fans, whenever any player has shown intent and gotten out, he has been criticized alot. We always suggest that we need to remove the fear of getting out but as fans we should also think about the role we play.
If at the end of innings majority will support the innings of stability over intent then you will get that from your cricketers as well. Majority of the Pak fans are biased upon their likings of batsmen so it all depends who is doing it instead of what is being done.

Because they knew they couldn't chase 400 which is what would have happened if we bowled first (if you think our bowling couldn't get worse, Wasim Jnr is back!)...batting first, at least we can set some sort of target and hope the Saffers self destruct like they sometimes do....it's basically Saffers Vs themselves when they bat second

Yes, so dont take it so emotionally. Believe me if you guys have experienced 1996 QF and 1999 WC final, it is just time to relax. We need to accept the fact that we are good ODI team who does terrible in WC. Same like NZ is not a top team but in WC they just crank it up.
 
The run rate is still fine at 5.10 considering the usual calculation is to double the runs you have scored by the 30th over. By that logic we’d be set for a 300+ score. Main thing is to maintain around a 5 RR without losing wickets right now.

Abdullah isnt bad you do need one solid batter at the top but we need an aggressor with him like saim so imam has to go

To put the pressure back on the opposition. It's obvious with the shot selection from everyone but Babar that they've agreed on going much harder.

Exactly. You need your top 3 to make significant scores if you want to post a decent total against a team like SA. Our openers basically gifted their wickets before we'd even got started.

We'll be lucky if we score 280...the only big hitter we have is already out there and won't last long...doesn't have the capacity to score a quick fire 50, let alone 100, like the big hitters of other teams....
 
Shamsi bowls atleast one half tracker every over. But this guy was massacred by Shreyas Iyer so much so a regular guy like him had to sit out.

This is fine. Saud is another Tuk tuk. I reckon he would have come in if Babar had got out as opposed to Rizwan. There's an evident plan to have an anchor in conjunction with an attacker in the batting partnerships.

Shamsi on here we go.

If Pak bowled first, people would have complained that why give SA chance to bat first knowing Pak are bad chasers. Point is SA is better team. Babar and Ifti chacha needs to play out of their skin and put 320 on board and we will see glorious Pak win.
