It is a case of inspite of Bavuma SA won rather than because of Bavuma. They have a freeloader in the side as captain they are winning t his handsomely.

Terrific bowling from South Africa from the first ball.
 
I feel rohit badly wants to win and so does shami and bumrah.

However saffers are hungry too. They are used in Indian conditons given they play alot in IPL.

Apart from Pakistan. I like both these countries as a neutral. It's tough really to pick one. May the best team win.

No surprise. The schedule is like that. When they beat ENgland everyone thought this was the old England. Only later we realized they look worse than associate side. Strongest sides in the compeition are India/SA/Australia. They are losing to all three of them.

India should test themselves vs SA if they win toss. Bowl first. Get them to set 300 plus and see if they can chase.

i wonder if its better for south africa to play both spinners with ngidi missing out. that would pack the unit with strike bowlers but ngidi provides more variety and can bowl at the death

They are a cohesive unit. They play well as a team. I have always maintained the way to beat nz is to be ruthless vs them. Be aggressive with bowling. Don't go soft with bouncers etc. They are the team that surrenders as soon as they get bullied a bit.

India will try to finish the top of the table if they can to avoid Aussies. More than opponent it is the venue. Wankhede is a very high scoring venue where good bowlers are negated. Indian batting is a bit undercooked
 
Trundler Henry outside opening spell if there is swing he offers nothing

Boult himself is a 130-139 bowler. Again outside opening spell nothing special.

Southee less said the better. If you can't face 122 to 130 pace at this level then play another sport really.

Phillips. Can't figure out what it is but he does absolutely nothing particularly well but he is somewhat effective. At the end of the day he is not a specialist bowler.

Neesham just a run of the mill trundler

Daryl Mitchell doesn't even want to bowl.

Luckwise Wankhede is lucky though. :) INdia won the final there. INdia lost 2 world cup semi finals at Eden Gardens. It will be a conundrum ofr fans

Half way through they were mentally down. only 9 times 350 plus totals were successfully chased down regardless of the venue, importance.
 
If Afghanistan beat SA and Australia (I recon they can)

It could be Pakistan and AFG go as 3 and 4

PAK have never won a KO game in WC against Aussies, and not even a game against IND …. I don’t agree that Kiwi bowling is weaker than PAK, but that’s debatable- what is not debatable is that their fielding will add 35 runs handicaps on PAK.

Their batting is better than PAK by some margin - this is Kiwi batting without much contribution from Conway & Will not playing - still they reached 383 chasing 388!!! Once, Will replaces Young, that lineup will be as solid as it can be.

Finally, Will should lead the side from next game - as Captain he will keep Babar in pocket and then forget which pocket.

Yes, in their day PAK can beat Kiwis, but for a SF…. I doubt how many sane head will pick Kiwis over PAK to face. This is not the old PAK,!who will retaliate when cornered …. Otherwise, SAF won’t have won that game & AFGs would have been shredded to pieces, which was basically a KO game for PAK.
 
Can we literally fake injure Usama or Nawaz to replace with abrar that will solve our spin problem
 
However, SAF has done something in this game - now they have given the PAK-NZ game a meaning. PAK can beat Kiwis by big margin and hope that SRL beats Kiwis (& BD beats SRL as well, otherwise…) and they can play against Poms knowing exactly what they need to do.
 
It is almost like SA could have declared at 250/2 and won the game. 13 fours 0 sixes in 25 overs of batting from NZ.

Good news is aus isn't too happy to play spin minus Warner and Travis head. Get those 2 out early and you got a 🔥 game.

A part of me is rooting for afg because they've played like champions this tournament.

Kudos to them for not backing down and being Peak confident.

This Australian team is totally different I don't see them losing to Afghanistan same goes with SA
 
Nz is hopeless.

Flood gates open.

Outside chance for Pakistan and maybe even Afghans if they can beat the next 2 tough opponents.

To be fair it might just be a latent fear of cornered tigers. This is how Pakistan's most famous tournament wins have commenced.

That's not true.

This Australian team doesn't have Maxwell for s while due to his recent Golfing injury so he's likely to miss 2 games.

The whole team relies on Travis and Warner + Maxwell to get them going.

Smith, Labu and Marsh are thorns in the side and josh inglis is their version of nawaz lol, although slightly more useful.

Stark is also at the end of his rope and has been expensive. Cummings and Hazelwood and zampa are defo gonna be hard for afg to handle. Zampa especially given his return to form
 
Rabada has been outstanding and so has jansen. Pace bounce Carry and swing. They have improved alot in these conditions. Few months back they weren't this deadly.

Didn't Usama injure his hand in the last game? Just requires an additional stern handshake and that would be it for him this WC...
