ICC World Cup 2023: South Africa (399/7) destroys England (170) by 229 runs, leaving England's World Cup hopes in jeopardy

Eng just bowled poorly and SA played brilliant. Combination of those two got 400 to chase.
 
There is another important factor in daynight matches in India. Dew only sets in later around 9 when almost 80% of second innings will be over. But before that during twilight and early night, the pitch will do all sorts of things. So it should not be set in stone that dew will help chasing and therefore lets chase.

Hey I am not saying no. Selectors are making that decision. How will he be made captain if he csnt get picked. I keep hearing fitness issues? Is that true. Cant pass the beep test thing?

Was Misbah technically astute who had solid game awareness? Seemed to in Tests, but in ODIs he was way too defensive and I put it down to his soft personality.

South Africa have probably just knocked out England.

Can't see England qualifying now. They still have to face Australia, India, and Pakistan.

Haris rotated the entire squad in that cup and dominated the tournament through and through he was an aggressive captain, and everyone got their chance. The victory against India in the final was a Butcher just like our ct 2017 victory.

He made sure saim ayub opened and omair bin aziz got no 3. Tayyab was also brought on at 4, but sometimes sent at 3 if saim laid a good platform.

Haris also rotated himself. He only brought himself forward in that cup as a finisher.

He's smart and knows full well about his role as a finisher. He doesn't cry about not opening. He's willing to bat anywhere and the emerging acc Cup played for the team.

I'm not even joking our acc emerging team would wipe the floor with out current unit, Like dead on wipe the floor with them. Literally not even joking. That shows how bad our current unit is lol.
 
Bavuma missed out against a pop gun attack to boost his confidence. But as I've stated before, we need our accumulators in good form (Bavuma/Hendricks, RvD). Rassie has been in decent nick, we need Bavuma to click as well.

From there it's up to QdK/Markram/Klassen/Miller to take the game away from the opposition. Miller's form is a bit of a concern though, albeit mitigated by Jansen's occasional cameos.

Unfortunately we don't have the mental toughness to take games deep. We can't pace our innings when chasing. Rather bat at 4.5-5 an over until the 30th over mark with as minimal damage as possible then cut loose

How fit is Babar Azam? Does Imam look like a professional athlete?

We have to chase there.Last year South africa were unable to play Kuldeep in the odi series.we can't waste him in the dew.We can handle pace and bounce but not seam/Swing I think.
 
I am still scratching my head how South Africa lost to Netherlands. That was the biggest upset in this World Cup.

They could've been 4-0 now.

Match is a write off, but from Eng pov, they need to get to 200+ from some pride.

I commented on PP after the shutdown cause I use to lurk here as you can see my account was created 2021, I just didn't comment cause I was busy with undergrad at the time, now I'm mostly free lol.

And yes I remember those slurs. We all have strong cricketing views bro, excluding trolls, everyone fundamentally believes in their claims.

The issue most people don't know how to argue so they begin attacking non stop thinking aggression will cause the other person to be intimidated. Go to Discord or Reddit and you'll see the same nonsense over and over. Heck even twitter has jumped on this toxic trend now. Too many people who lack flexibility

Because they really aren't that good apart from flat pitches. It's still an average team. I am positive Pakistan will beat them. They are good on flat tracks when it's absolutely boiling hot porvided they get to bat first. Bit of help for bowlers and they will get found out.

Starting 2007, Pakistan have lost 2 Finals and 5 semis (ODI, T20, CT) and not been good enough in test cricket, though Misbah did get to pose for a photo with the mace briefly :rabada2


I wouldn't be harping on my rival team being choke artists (even if they're close to being so), if my team had a record like the above. But anyway.

There is no one can say "Win the toss win the match" in this tournament given that 80% of the losses were suffered by toss winners.

England had lots of options to chose from Mahmood, Stone, Overton, Potts, Carse and many others.

No one is in the position to beat NZ, Ind or SA. Minus that sa chock but as long as bavuma stays out with his nonsense 15 of 30 scores, Sa won't lose to any team minus NZ and Ind.

This is not a 400 wicket. Also this is not a 100 all out wicket either. Basically England reached a new low in both departments. Bowling and Batting. They just needed to drop a few catches to complete the sucking in all 3 departments.

But we were never expected to win many of those anyway. India were partial favourites for most of the tournaments they played in.
 
What a catch. SA winning world cup i have no regret. I always want these guys to get the monkey off their back.

He is one of the guy who didn't get hammered today lol Reasonably bowled okay for this pitch instead of dishing out half trackers, half volleys, full tosses.

Naw, I don't watch cricket Analyst youtubers, I don't watch any famous youtubers either. I watch Small gaming channels and movie reviews because I'm more interested In gaming and movies then Any reality TV or sport on YouTube.

If my views are the same and match, it's a total coincidence lol.

Agree, but similarly Pakistan have always been THE unpredictable team. Always capable of winning a tournament. At least, according to Nasser Hussain and company :rabada2
 
England's ordinary world cup show will surely help Pakistan to secure their semifinal spot.

Yea. They messed up run rate in 2003 world cup and 2007 world T20 where all they had to do was gracefully lose to India. But they got massacred by India.

Problem is that at the moment pakistan don't have quality spinner else they would've been favourite against South Africa on most tracks here still I believe that if pakistan bat first they can choke Africa.
 
I don't know why England are playing shots now. They should try to bat out 50 overs and reduce the margin of defeat.

They seem to be in a hurry to go home.

He was not able to play kuldeep at all in last 2 odi series.so am not sure if he is the best keeper batsmen, I will like to see his game against good spin.

Australia is > in the race, Pakistan need to pull blinders here lol. But they can possibly pull one against eng.

But both bowling attacks are toothless and eng can captikise better then Pakistan lol.
