If Pakistan had faced India in Test cricket over the last decade

The team of WI ( 80's) is considered GOAT. They never played SA in that period for political reasons? So they aint GOAT?

Pakistan's test team is far from settled at the moment. Players like Babar, Rizwan, Shaheen and Hasan need atleast 1-2 seasons of test cricket to be in a position to not only make this team stable and competitive but also take it forward in SENA conditions.

Whilst we don't even have our first change bowler for SENA conditions ready yet. I say 2 years down the line when the likes of Shafique, Ghulam and Naseem Shah would have spent some time in home tests and domestics Pakistan would then be able to compete on a more regular basis.

We have things going in the right direction but we are clearly not there yet.

Inspired by some of the discussion in a different thread. I believe we would have seen some good Asian cricket had Pakistan and India faced off in whites. Imagine that we had test series in 2012, 2015, 2018 and 2021, with the series alternating between India and the UAE/Pakistan. For me, this is how I see things playing out:

2012 - Played in India.

Pakistan were clearly a stronger side in 2012, especially in Asia. I see this being a pretty one-sided series with Pakistan dominating in all aspects. Nothing else to say on this one.

Scoreline: 3-0 for Pakistan.
Man of the Series: Saeed Ajmal.

2015 - Played in the UAE.

Pakistan are still the stronger side, although several, previously average Indian players have now become world class. With this series being contested on the flat pitches of the UAE, it would have been run-fest after run-fest with Pakistan winning.

Scoreline: 2-0 for Pakistan, with one draw.
Man of the Series: Younis Khan.

2018 - Played in India.

We now see witness the tables turning with India coming into this series as the stronger side, with more established, world-class test players, while Pakistan is a team in transition. India would probably dominate the weaker batting of the opposition. However, I can foresee the Pakistani spinners causing massive problems on Indian pitches.

Scoreline: 3:0 to India.
Man of the Series: Ravi Ashwin.

2021 - Played in Pakistan.

This would probably have been the closest series, with two flawed teams battling in Pakistan. I can foresee the Pakistani curators taking away India's advantage in the spin department which would make it a battle between the pacers and the batsmen. Given that its in Pakistan though, I also expect some big innings.

Scoreline: 1-1 draw, 1 drawn test.
Man of the Match: Rohit Sharma/Babar Azam

*BUMP* in light of recent series held in Pakistan ... I would like to know if those in favor of either team would want to re-think their positions.

Could Pakistan have beaten India today in Tests? Australia seem to be doing it as well?

Australia is the #1 ranked side. Pakistan's performance in Asia since Jan 2022. Played 10, W - 1, L - 5, D - 4 . Not very likely.

Pakistan would definitely been a better Test team, it's players would have taken Test Cricket more seriously and been better players had they played Tests against India in the last 10 years. Pakistan always take their game to the top level when playing against their neighbors. We see the team more united, committed and don't see them perform the foolishness and schoolboy stuff which we often see them against other nations.

Not playing regular Test Cricket against India has hurt our cricket to some extent.

Would challenge peak Indian team in India.

Pakistan-India Test series could've been a classic one. Both sides had good Test teams 5-6 years ago.

Both sides have declined in Test. Pakistan declined a bit more than India.

Pakistan can't even win in Pakistan & you're expecting them to in India hahhahahahah

P.S: If I'm not wrong last time Pak won a test in Pakistan we were in a covid lockdown

Pakistan would have been smashed but we would have been better off with the experience. It would have shown us where we stand on rank turners, against reverse swing and what we need to do to improve.

Younis khan would be better than any Indian batters in India.

Pakistan (PCB) are a bunch of headless chickens. They don't know kind of wickets they want but the real sad fact is that Pak have no established spinner post Yasir Shah.

The current lot would get hammered in a Test series in India, largely because they are clueless against good spin-bowling.

Even if it was a full-strength Pakistan side with the likes of Shaheen who would take wickets and Babar who would score runs, India would be clear favourites.

Tbh the biggest disadvantage for Pakistan is the lack of quality spin bowlers and the lack of knowledge on bowling consistent wicket taking deliveries, building pressure and intelligent field placings. Indians have mastered these conditions in the last 10 years.

If it was played on neutral grounds E.g England, it would be a close series, with potentially Pakistan winning - but in Asian or (even Aussie) conditions I believe India would smash them. Hate to say it, but they would.

On paper and form India are clear favourites. Pakistan though can't be ruled out as our players tend to bring out the best vs India. Would be an exciting series. Cricket fans of our time are missing out on the greatest rivalry

if they had played 4 series over the last decade im guessing it would have been 5-1 to india with 6 draws or something like that.

this pak test team is one of the worst we've had in history. unless pak can find 2 batsman, a bowler to support shaheen and a proper spinner there would be no hope.

once jaddu and ashwin retire i think both teams would be a lot closer though, as indian batsmen arent great against spin, and the depth of their batting saves them again and again.

also the back up spinners are significantly inferior to ashwin and jaddu.

If Pakistan had faced India in Test cricket over the last decade……Kohli would be averaging close to 60 and would have had at least 10 more hundreds.

He owns Pakistan. He has a huge psychological impact on Pakistani bowlers. They fear him. They are intimidated by him.

He would have won numerous Tests single-handedly against Pakistan like he has in white ball.

There cannot be a more definitive and direct answer to this question than what has happened in the last 30 days especially today where BD got mauled in a Test that did not even last 2 FULL days worth of Test Cricket ( 180 overs ) when the same exact BD team beat Pakistan easily.

I would suggest that you do not confuse the results of white ball cricket with Test Cricket. Two different things altogether.
