Mumbai, Jan 23 (IANS): HE Amjad Khan, who has directed the Malala Yousafzai biopic "Gul Makai", feels Pakistani Prime Minister is a good cricketer but poor politician. Amjad Khan's comment came in the wake of Imran Khan snide about Indian Cinema and Culture.

Recently, Imran declared that Indian culture and cinema has been instrumental in increasing crime in Pakistan.

HE Amjad Khan, who is also Goodwill Ambassador of IIMSAM-UNECOSOC, said: "Imran Khan should have been a cricket coach and then the Pakistani cricket team's performance would perhaps have been much better. As a political leader his performance is very poor. He talks like an absolute knucklehead and illiterate. Whatever awareness people in Pakistan have, it is because of Indian culture and films. Films like 'My Name Is Khan' and 'Lagaan' has been instrumental in creating awareness in Pakistan. So, rather than making rubbish comments, Imran Khan should focus on his country's GDP, economic crisis. Recently they got rejected from World Bank. So my humble suggestion to him is that you should mind your own country before you become helpless."

"Gul Makai" showcases the early life of Malala and gruesome environment that the Taliban regime created in Afghanistan.

Amjad Khan added: "His government pays 200 million to a man like Mohammad Faziulla, who runs a own radio show where he propagates that girls should not go to school. Because of that a little girl like Malala gets shot in the head. I mean they don't have any shame, and they talk rubbish. Neither Imran Khan nor the country has been able to take care of itself or the people."

He continued: "Malala Yousafzai is from your (Imran's) country. The entire world looks up to her and appreciates her. Now this little girl Malala has been honoured with Nobel Peace Prize. She is a United Nation's peace Ambassador and she is the biggest leader of this decade. Don't you think Imran Khan you should have invited her once, officially?"

The "Gul Makai" maker also said that political leaders in Pakistan should come out of their fundamentalist mentality. "Recently Malala visited Pakistan and only two news channels covered her the visit. She wasn't able to meet the Prime Minister who, along with government officials and the leaders are shameless and have no decency. They should get out of their fundamentalist mentality and catch up with the world, which is moving with a rapid pace," he added.

"Gul Makai" is is set to release on January 31.

He is right. The PM office is beyond someone of his low caliber and intellect. A cricketer is all he is.

They gave it away there.

Did Imran say that about Indian culture and cinema?

He showed disappointment upon the fact that our entertainment industry is merely copying Western and Indian content which is against our cultural norms and therefore it is adversely effecting our society hence increase in crimes like child abuse etc.
Valid point indeed.

The pain which you must be going through knowing everyday that he is our PM on top one of a GOAT cricket player. While you sit at home and can't do anything about it. Such a helpless situation to be in.

Such a stupid comment - why these people low themselves for a little media space ... I understand that he has a movie in pipe line.

By that logic, I believe Indian PM should have been the manager of a tea stall and our PM a school teacher for Bengali literature..... Nonsense.

Agreed. The only reason why people vote for him is because he was a cricketer. There is no treatment for cultists.

So people waited 22 years to vote for him? He started the party in 1996 and his party lost 4 elections before coming into power. In between those 22 years he started 2 cancer hospitals for poors (third is in making), launched a university for poor population the uni is affiliated with a brit university, started a welfare foundation, became the chancellor of Bradford University, Destroyed the status quo of 2 parties system.

There is no treatment for stupidity

"Cultist", "Messiah", etc is used when everything else fails and can't find a way to criticize.

Imran also said that India is facing many social issues because it blindly followed Western culture.

I have personally observed the way our culture and social values has deteriorated in last 15 years (since the inception of private channels and cheap internet) in Pakistan. The Western/Indian cultural invasion has adversely affected our younger generation. Drugs have become a common theme in schools. The kind of profanities the kids use in their normal conversation was unthinkable a few decades back. Being rude and obnoxious is considered 'cool' nowadays. But can we really blame a generation that has grown up watching nickelodeon, BB vines etc ?

That is why Imran is encouraging our entertainment industry to promote our own culture, our values, our historical figures so that our kids/youth can take inspiration from them. This is also why he recommended Ertugrul series.

Seems like the same "shut up and dribble" insult that trump supporters have been condemned for by liberals in the west. You really continue to show that you're faux liberal/democrat.

I feel same this guy is one of those who achieve nothing in their life and spend the whole life getting burned by the achievements of others. In this case Imran achieved so much in one life time with the help of almighty and on the other side this guy can born 10 times and all he is going to do is get burn instead of doing anything useful in life. A medical degree and being born in a rich family is his whole achievement.

Exactly. I disagree with the 10 times even a million times that what he will do.

Uh no and once again it's the same "shut up and dribble" ** that conservatives have been condemned for over here. People are more than just their careers/degrees/past work.

Thank you genius for your input. Imran was right about the movies who watches them rubbish bollywood movies anyway.

Imran Khan was almost a playboy during his playing days, work hard party hard was his life style, just confused that he has been taking a dig at Indians for “westernizing” when Pakistani cricket stars , musicians during and before 90s were all very western unlike the Indian cricketers.

If he did say that then he is nothing more than those Desi uncles in west who enjoyed and lived as they wanted during their 20s but at 50s lecturing the youngsters of the families.

By this logic he should have been made PM in 1997 elections! the memories of 92 were still fresh but IK wasn't even able to win one seat...

Imran used to avoid drinking although women was his weakness. A person changes with time, past sins must not be a handicap for future virtues.

PTI vote bank is mostly young and under 30 they were not even born when IK was playing cricket or when Pakistan won 1992 WC. IK involved the youth, women and middle class into our politics and converted them into votebank with a political struggle of years...

It’s his life, he can do what he wants till he is not harming anyone else.
My issue is only with him judging others now and equating western or Indian culture to causing issues in his country.

Why didn't they vote for him for 20 years prior to 2018 :azhar2

And why mostly those who were not even born or were just under 5 when IK was still playing cricket or when Pakistan won 1992 WC voted for him? Help me to find the answer too...

The 1992 World Cup has certainly proved to be very costly.

If Western and Indian movies had actually increased crime in Pakistan, then countries like Afghanistan and Iraq should be safe haven

Not that Imran Khan had contributed much towards winning that Cup. If it wasn’t for Inzimam, Pak would ve been humiliated against NZ in the semi.

In reality Imran Khan was not even a good cricketer.

He played very well in the final, but his innings in the semi-final was a terrible one. It was as bad as Misbah’s Mohali but Inzamam and Miandad saved the day for him.

Overall, there is no doubt that he is one of the greatest players of all time. Definitely top 10.

However, he is slightly overrated here which is understandable considering his status and legacy in Pakistan cricket. He is not the GOAT Asian cricketer or captain as some would want you to believe.

He scored 70 something but only with a Strike rate of 65. Both him and Javed Miandad were running Pakistan to the ground by wasting deliveries. Also he only took 1 wicket.

It was again Inzimam and Wasim Akram who saved Pakistan. Inzimam esp. has the credit for winning that WC. IMO Imran Khan was an Ok cricketer but nothing extra ordinary.

Ok leave Imran Khan's cricket analysis out for this thread.

Yes he is partly right. The simple fact that matters is IK has been unsuccessful in fulfilling all the promises he made prior to being elected. Take IK out of the PTI and the entire party will collapse.

IK is much more than a cricketer. Only few people have the level of determination and never say die attitude that he has. He could have chosen an easy way out and be a cricket commentator or coach etc. but he was destined to do much bigger things for his country. He is the PM, Pakistan needs.

Dream on...

Now a two-bit Bollywood director will tell IK what he should and shouldn't have been. And it's not like he's saying anything new. Bollywood movies are the lowest common denominator type of entertainment. Any cinema-goer with even an ounce of taste would know this. Only thing worse are the Pakistani movies trying to ape them nowadays.
