What's new

India [110/5] beat West Indies [109/8] by 5 wickets in the first T20I to take 1-0 series lead

Whoever compared Hetmeyer with Lara needs to get their head checked. This guy is a complete hack even when he was scoring runs. Poor player of spin as well.

Agree.Just an attractive slogger

Fixer Azhar rang the bell. Let's see if krunal is worth the hype

It's pathetic - Azhar goes around pretending that the Andhra Pradesh High Court cleared him but the court only made a judgement on his ban, not his actual innocence or guilt in fixing. I mean the guy confessed (on video) in 2000 to the CBI. He is a match fixing scumbag who shouldn't be anywhere near Indian cricket.

People need to read the CBI report, he even confessed to his links to the Mumbai underworld.

Here's a good and relatively recent summary of it.

I'm all for fixers who admit their guilt and are genuinely sorry to be readmitted to the cricketing family, in some role anyway, but those who continue to lie and lie and lie should be shunned.

Pathetic stuff from the WIs lol. This pitch and ground are good for batting too but the way they're batting you'd think they were playing at 1998 Sabina Park.

So Darren Bravo is now a T20 specialist? When and why did that happen?

Not only that. He went around blatantly claiming that he was targeted because he was Muslim. A shameless individual who deserves no respect whatsoever.

this is getting embarrassing

How did WI compete in 2 games in ODIs?

They genuinely played well in those two games. Especially the 3rd one.

That's what I keep trying to say that in the LO formats any team can win on any given day. Because it's just a matter of 2-3 people from any team to collectively have a great outing.

That's why I keep saying that Pakistan's win over India in the CT final was just a one-off thing and in the same sense, Pakistan's 11-0 record in T20Is is an outstanding achievement.

Good debut for Krunal. His batting has never been in doubt. It was only his role as the 5th bowler that was in question. But 1 for 15 is a very good start (4 runs off his last 18 balls).

Fixer Azhar rang the bell.

Only happens in Kolkata

Remember, before the T20 WC game against Pak in 2016, they had to reduce the game to 18 overs so that Mamta Banerjee can felicitate ex Pak cricketers?

All will change in bengal from next election...just wait :)

His batting against international bowlers is very much in doubt with that weird stance

Bowling was good, but he came in at a very comfortable situation.Too early to judge either ways imo

ICC should do something about these one sided affairs.

Apart from 2 ODIs, a useless series, waste of time and energy playing these tullaybaazs.

Not only that
A Bollywood biopic was made on him where he was portrayed as a tragedy hero

KL Rahul has been pathetic in the field
Has dropped a catch,conceded 2 boundaries
And almost missed a run out

Opposition has been down 8 wickets for just 100 and he gives runs at a rate of 9. That is Umesh for you.

Pathetic bowling from Umesh. Absolutely pathetic.

It was a pretty good performance. Umesh was very good up front. A couple of midfields (if KL took that catch) and a couple of edges going past the keeper for 4.

The main thing with Umesh in T20s, as we saw last season in the IPL is that he should be used before the 16th over. Ideally he should bowl 3 overs with the new ball. That's how Kohli used him and with great success.

I guess Rohit today kept Umesh for the death to give debutant Khaleel some kind of cushion. Which makes sense. But going forward you should see Umesh being used up front mostly. And then he becomes a very good T20 bowler.

Maybe but then if he can only bowl upfront, he should not be in the ODI World Cup plans at all since he can't bowl all 10 overs upfront.

Rahul is such a quality player. Why team management dropped him after just giving 3 odi matches at 4?

Indian Team management is so terrible.

Maybe but then if he can only bowl upfront, he should not be in the ODI World Cup plans at all since he can't bowl all 10 overs upfront.

Well that's precisely why he is second choice to Bhuvi in ODIs even though he takes more wickets than Bhuvi.

Bhuvi doesn't take as many wickets as Umesh but he performs a role (I keep saying this) that Umesh/Shami cannot - bowling in the death.

Played 3 T20's, 3 ODI's and 5 tests in England and scored just 1 T20 hundred and 1 test hundred. You call this performance lol?

So which guys are scoring a hundred per 4 ODI innings or fewer Tests in England?Everyone can't be Kohli

Pandaya and Kuldeep still to come , india has players who can win it easily , just need to bat out next few overs

This Thomas has to improve his fitness. He is going to make players dance with his raw pace.

Except Dhoni being a senior has less excuses to fail rather than a noob failing.

Nope. Everyone should be judged equally. If anything, a senior should get an advantage of having performed in the past and thus get a longer rope. But your thinking is completely ulta.

No. That is not correct. Noobs should be given a longer rope. Not 38 year olds. That has always been the case for decades.

How will that noob become a senior then? Guys like Yuvi, Dhoni and Raina didn't waste opportunities when they played at home. And here we have Rahul and Pant who keep playing irresponsible cricket.

Whole world works in the opposite way. Entire corporate structure and it's philosophy of meritocracy works in the opposite way.

Sorry. I don't see any truth in what you're saying.

Using that theory nobody will ever retire. This guy is not even at 10% of his peak. Why do you think he is considered useful. Even in his peak Dhoni was never a useful batsman in the T20. He even caused us lose the T20 final with slow batting.

Krunal on his debut played a more responsible innings than Superstar Pant. He picked one wicket too and a better fielder than Pant.

It seems even bangalis love Balle Balle Shava Shava type of music. :inti

Yes no harm in loving others culture but one must not forget their own. Chennai, Bangalore, Punjab everywhere during T20 game, the DJ plays English, hindi and regional song. But I hv never heard a bangla song in Eden gardens. Noticed in IPL too.

Pant was misused by sending at 4.Manish is India's no. 4, Karthik no. 5 and Pant a no. 6.

Since his comeback into T20I Dinesh Karthik has a SR of 159 and an average of 100. :ashwin

Pant was misused by sending at 4.Manish is India's no. 4, Karthik no. 5 and Pant a no. 6.

Pant was misused when he was sent at 6 in ODIs and now he is misused again when team management sent him at 4. I am confused. :inti
