India (111/2) hammer New Zealand by 8 wickets to win the 2nd ODI - Seal series by 2-0 margin

How is this pitch?. Is it tough for batting or newzealand played like minnows?.I think india won't stand a chance i guess.

This is the thing about INdian wickets. Provides a fair contest. They have the most diverse wickets in the world. Some swing, some have bounce, some turn, some slow turn, some belters.

India got a bonus wicket. Could have been hit anywhere. How long is the boundary? It seemed like MCG :)

Glen Philips is an X factor player. But at times he has to play time. Can he control his instincts effectively to be a successful ODI batsman.

I can draw a paralle with SKY. Both SKY and Philips are T20 specialists. In one dayers you should be mentally prepared to play in different situations.

Wasted hit out for the batsmen.

Really poor from the selectors, no point getting the likes of Nichols, Shipley and Tickner a look in these conditions.

At least we'll get someone in for Finn, he can't be trusted for the WC.

Fell away in the WT20 as well after the great start against Aus. Just has never been able to find some consistency.

Thought he could be another McCullum up the order, he's stronger and probably more talented, just not mentally as checked in as McCullum.

50 over games lot of overs. Cannot bat like T20 like England does. England bats till 9. Each has multiple gears. Not every side is blessed with that.

Finn has just really been disappointing, never kicked on after announcing himself in the WT20 game against Aus.

He's really good to watch, but like an idiot he gets out early so you can rarely see his talent.

Thought he'd come on after that and cement a spot for the WC, never happened. Instead of having a blazing opener up the order to get us off to a good start, might have to go with someone more reliable like Young.

So why cant Latham open and Finn as lower order enforcer? How is his spin play?

Latham down the order is fine.

Opening we can slot in Young who has been scoring some runs in domestic cricket.

Mitchell is another who did well in the last WT20 as an opener who can be considered. Not sure about Chapman's form though.

I hope India chase this down quickly.

Don't want to see Shipley and Tickner playing for NZ again. Mediocre as they come.

Mitchell is very avg against spin from whatever little i have seen him in Pak and India. Opening could be his position.

Is Sundar lucky or Sundar beat them with pace variation? Philips caught it in his spilce. Ferguson got it in his toe end.

His strengths are primarily T20 spin strengths. Short, fast and into the wicket. That's just what we saw. I think after his comeback from injury , he's been trying to give the ball air and bowl a more traditional good length. Mixed it up today.

I will excuse Finn today. but overall he is unreliable.
Yeah, send him back to domestic cricket to work on his game. We can't trust him as an opener for us in ODIs.

T20s we can afford it, ODIs just puts too much pressure on the rest.

If the ball moves watch out for Rohit. He won't stay too long.
Shipley is the only one who will be moving the ball and he isn't consistent enough to trouble India. He'll bowl 1-2 good balls, then give you two boundary balls.

Why are Indians afraid of the new ball.

You're facing Shipley, Lockie and Tickner...

Shipley is rubbish, Lockie hasn't looked the same since returning from injury and Tickner is your generic 140kph bowler who doesn't move the ball an inch, hits the deck hard and gets smacked around.

yes. It seemed a forced segment. Do they visit PP?

End of the day we still lost the WTC finals on the SIXTH day in conditions more familiar to the oposition, conditions which were more Dunedin than Delhi, against an oppositions who were more battle hardened by playing 2 tests prior to us landing
and getting ready & better preparation.
I wish for the next cycle we have a best of three kind of ,situation one test played in Aus, Eng and one in WI/UAE/India , that would be a true test of a WTC all conditions winner.
not wanting to sound salty but last i checked NZ were not that flash in Aus and india in the 2020-21 cycle and their only merit was defeating us across 2 tests in helpful conditons. Surely in indian conditions we'd be fav on all counts where as we ran them close in WTC finals. Not sure if this was kept in perspective. My rant over...LOL

Hope we win the toss for once. Kohli has the habit of losing every toss against his buddy Kane. ALso Kohli goes uber soft whenever he plays NZ. All his aggression came only against OZ and England.

Absolute garbage. Forget Sky Sports now, even ESPN Star back in the day was way better than this rubbish.

May be because innings got ove so quickly they have too much time on their hands.

Not just this day. Has been this way for a while. Had stopped for a while, maybe getting tired of waiting for him to score big. Ever since that innings against Pakistan, eulogies have come back stronger than before.

You wonder why superstars are overstaying. This is why. They sell. They have marketability. Even when they go through bad patch, they keep them relevant by showing some old clippings.

Superstars overstaying is not their problem. Selectors and other TM are the issue. When Sachin retired, his last 2 year test average was 37 which is the career average of many. There was talk of him overstaying. No such problem now.

Sure this plays a factor. Team management turns the selectors into dummies. There is no separation of duties like in the 80s i think.

If our designated test openers can't handle some home spice we may as well give up cricket.

So far so good.

Uncocking of the wrist is different for swing and seam bowlers. Philander/Bhuvi/Asif case in point.

Must say is it my imagination or guys like hitman and Lord Shardul have packed on a few pounds? Both look like they have'nt refused too many helpings of Sev missal or mumbai Vada paav in the off season...hopefully this won't come to bite us in the aus series.

These guys set a very bad example.

So far happy with Gill's way of playing that incoming delivery. He often found himself wrong footed.

Balanced pitch and big ground. Always loved this combo.. Even if pitch is a road, dimensions should always be big.

Very very impressive stadium. Massive boundaries. Huge crowd.

Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad are the marquee cities in India. The stadiums at those cities are still medeival concrete jungle. High time they rennovate those.
