India (153 & 80/3) defeat South Africa (55 & 176) by 7 wickets to draw the series 1-1

No hindsight. Jadeja is a freeloader in all formats for quite a few years now.
cmon yaar...in the last few years in overseas in both Melbourne tests of 2018 and 2020 he got 50's , he bowled brilliantly in both tests, he got a 50 at first test of 2021 eng series, you are talking as if he is a serious dud. he's got several brilliant catches (wagner in auckland test) several brilliant runouts (smith in sydney 2021)
- and that is just the overseas tests that i have put forth
i agree he might not be an automatic pick - but he is not some run of the mill halwa either - 'freeloader' is bit rich, dude.

I am taking about Tests.

KL is middle order batsman now. Ishan is an opener or 1 down batsman.
Samson is a bigger mental midget than KL.
Even in tests. These guys haven't got opportunities like klrahul. Samson never got a prolonged continous run. Same as ishan. Need continuity for security or else nobody can perform especially at the international level. None of them got as much backing as klrahul. Elite sport is about attitude and mentality and not buckling under pressure

Very nervous but we should win this. Send Jadeja in Iyer's place, can even ask KL to open.

You would be cursing Samson if he played tests. I don’t if he can keep for a full test with his paunch.
Samson is not a test batsman. He loses his head easily and can get out anytime.

Klrahul will then tuk tuk to 3 of 30 balls and make the pitch appear like a minefield and totally kill the momentum like the odi WC final

India and South Africa have drawn a Test series in South Africa before. One instance was in 2010-2011 when they drew a two-match Test series 1-1.

Maybe but you need to give people a continuous run before dropping them. They cant have a sword hanging on their necks after every game unlike klrahul who got unwavering backing. Jeez the dude made his test debut 10 years back! And is still a mental midget after all these years and backing

Maharaj should emigrate to Eng or Aus. Too good a spinner to miss out on international cricket because of SA's pitches.

That was a 3 test series.

SA won 1st test in Centurion, 2nd test in Durban India won, 3rd test in Cape Town was a draw which featured the legendary Sachin vs Steyn clash, then Kallis scored a 2nd innings 100 despite injury, to save his team.

Great to see Bumrah amongst wickets. Right since WC, he is doing all the hard work with bowlers at the other end reaping benefits.

Have to accept that Bumrah is phenomenal in SENA conditions. Indeed, he is one of the greats for India in Tests.

This is how Markram scored as he was in no pressure as no-one expected South Africa to win this test and they lost 6 Wickets already

Someone on this thread was saying that Jaiswal isn't ready for test cricket.

You don't get ready by not playing. If a dud like Rahul can be given so many chances in all formats, Jaiswal is only superior as far as talent is concerned.

good comeback after that bowling in 1st Test ....

9 test wins in SENA for India since January 2018.

4 in Aus
3 in Eng
2 in SA
0 in NZ

Are we looking at number 10?

These Saffer bowlers look great on dodgy surfaces. In Australia last year, the Gabba was an extremely substandard pitch and they looked great.

At MCG and SCG , they took a combined 12 wickets and averaged 112.5 per wicket. Without resorting to such pitches, they are not even a competent Test side.

Not prioritising Tests is the right way forward. They have anyway been bullied in Asia since 2015 anyway and didn't impress on the last 2 tours of England either.

This is a very poor wicket . A bit of variable bounce is fine but this wicket is all over the place. It could be dangerous

This is not a bad record. We should have won last test series in South Africa but batsman bottled. We are no World beater but we are still best team in test cricket .

13 match losing streak in Asia since 2015.
0-6 in Ind
0-5 in SL
0-2 in Pak

They are also wasting Maharaj's career, someone who is potentially as good as Herath.

Yes and they drew 0-0 in BD as well in 2015 and BD had taken a lead in one of those Tests. They have lost everything in PAK/IND/SL except a rain-marred Test in Bangalore. This apart from losing 2 Test series at home to England and 1 to SL . They've declined a lot over the last 8-9 years.

They may get better in subcontinent now that Elgar the sook is going.
They don't have the resources to compete in Asia. No batsmen, Maharaj the sole spinner but hasn't been developed because of their home pitches, and Rabada is worse than Thakur on SC pitches, check his record.

Don't know about Pak/SL but I will be very surprised if SA ever manage a draw in India in the future. Our top Ranji sides will be too much for them.

Yeah they got lucky in BD, this when they had their stalwarts like Steyn, AB, Amla, Faf, Philander, Morkel etc.

BD have won tests against Eng, Aus at home, both much better sides than SA in SC conditions.

Give me a test match over T20/ ODI to watch ( Ofcourse including india ) at anyday . I just love test cricket

Gill gone. India should hold their nerve and chip away at the target. They lost 6 wickets for zero runs yesterday

Yes, we can do better but great record nonetheless. It will take SENA 30 years to win 9 tests in India and even then, it will be courtesy Aus and Eng, because SA and NZ can't beat Ind in Ind.

Probably Kohli's last test innings in SA, he has been a master in these conditions, greatest from Asia IMO, even ahead of Sachin despite Sachin's 5 tons in SA.

If Cape Town is not banned to host any more tests in near future or till they get their act together after this fiasco, it'll only show ICC is still run by SENA countries

Just becouse India is winning this test match . I see a lot post when india were losing first test match .
Tbh this is a joke series because of the conditions. 2 tests combined have lasted less than 4 days.

On the Positive side...there is enough time to hold decider 3rd test match here....if they wanted to :)

That was one of the freakiest thing that i have ever seen in cricket. Don't think we will witness that even by a minnow team.

15 more runs required to win. This looks like a cake walk for India.

The pre match discussion thread was much more interesting than this test match itself. I will go through it again this evening, laugh and enjoy reading all the predictions that were made before the game and how correct I was. :ROFLMAO:

SA commies were confident since on this very ground SA was bowled out for 96 and won the test by bowling Australia out for 47 runs.
