What's new

India [156/2] defeat New Zealand [157] by 8 wickets [DLS Method] in the 1st ODI

Hyping somebody for International LOIs based on Ranji? Ohh Boy, that is some wonderful fact-based argument.:salute
And love the 'girl' references. Typical Desi way of thinking. :wahab2

If not Ranji, our premier domestic competition then what should we judge new players on?

Looks like a few people got carried away after beating SL. ALso for some weird reason, they thought India will roll over albeit beating AUS because SMith and Warner werent playing. Weird logic. Quality bowling effort. India needs to tighten its fielding

Indian wristies are stepping up consistently.

What's the need of playing Kuldeep before world cup matches. I won't want to give any potential semi final opposition the chance to play Kuldeep before the world cup

NZ is an entertaining side, especially in NZ. Hope they show up in the next match.
Agree with this. Nothing against NZ, they're a wonderful nation, just that some fake residents spoil the mood of every India thread especially when India is doing well..

First 10 overs is very key. Let's see if Rohit learned his lessons against left armers

He's no more a mystery bowler. Everybody can read him, atleast the top order batsmen. He beats you in the air and attacks.

Let Dhoni play Ranji. His current form will be completely exposed.

Sound of bat touching the ball is so nice right through the match. Just that Kiwis didn't find the middle very often. Nice wicket ot bat on once you settle down.

Kane williamson earned so much from me in the last IPL. The way he marshalled his limited resources was really good. Let us see if he can cause as stutter here for India.

Yeah, everyone forgot after India's pathetic effort.
It's so sad that only point scoring you can do is about another team beating India in a competition final where your team finished at the bottom of the group, I suppose that's what happens when a team wins nothing 18 years.

India would've been a far better opponent than Kiwis in WC'15 final who've a mental block against Aus.

WHy will he play Ranji if he;s not even in the test team. It's a waste of a spot

To stay match fit and give ranji players a chance to prove themselves against international standard players. By your logic no international player should play domestic cricket.

Always loved Kiwis,Aussie and SA grounds over all the other countries, so much fun watching cricket on grass.(the ground)

Limited resources? He had an absolute gun attack to use. Rashid Khan, stanlake, bhuvi, hooda, there wasn't anything limited about them for most part, they only lost because they had no stanlake for the final.

Hyderabad have considerable resources.

Any team with that bowling line up is easy to lead.

Battingwise they didn't have anyone other than WIlliamson and Dhawan.

The way the ball pings of the bat in NZ is the sweetest compared to any country.

Also the cameras always follow the ball correctly, the new coverage of Aussiee series was terrible this time but even they follow the ball correctly, in India I still so many times the guy calling camera angle for Deep point when the ball only reached point!

If NZ wants wickets they have to keep pitching slightly fuller. Best length to nail both Dhawan and Rohit early on. But once they are in they will punish those balls.

I defn have a bias against Rohit Sharma, can never trust his presence on crease.

Battingwise they didn't have anyone other than WIlliamson and Dhawan.

They didn't need anyone given those 2 and the bowling unit at his disposal and a captain can't really claim credit for batting over achieving.

Both Sharma and Dhawan are struggling against the movement. Brilliant bowling by Boult and Southee.

Kiwi grounds are the size of similar to park ones people play cricket in India.

Dhawan has to fix his form. He cannot hit his way out. He has to do the hard yards. It is a low total. Just hang in there.

Dhawan seems out of sorts, perfect opportunity for him to spend time at the crease get back some match practice. Actually both openers can play test cricket and chase this low target with no pressure.

Problem is they can't play test cricket!!!

Dhawan is keeping very low bar for himself. Come the WC, he will eventually show his true colours.

This is frustrating, both batsmen struggling but they've managed to get 25 runs.

Dhawan seems to have found his groove, bowlers missed the chance to get him cheaply.

Only Dhawan is struggling. Mostly because of his own form rather than some outstanding bowling. good decent bowling. But there is nothign happening there other than a gentle seam movement.

Dhawan seems comfortable now, Rohit isn't timing them well.

I would love to see a set Sharma bat on these tiny grounds, are the Odi's on similar small grounds or are there bigger ones?

Remember when India toured with Tendulkar/Yuvi/Dhoni/Sehwag ? In the opening T20 Sehwag hit 3 sixes in 3 balls against Southee in the first over lol Vettori was worried about India getting to 300

The next 2 ODIs are at Bay Oval which has 70 to 75m boundaries. Its a batting paradise usually

I sense something big coming up. They will attack Lockie

I remember McCullum once hit Tait's 150 kph balls behind the keeper for six. Release speed is good. But not sure how much pace it loses after pitching. He has to pitch it up.
