England crashed to a 50-run defeat in the first T20I but can they recover to square the series or will India take the series today?

The match starts as per Indian favourable time, 19:00 IST.

So, I got the Pant replacing Kishan thing absolutely right :inti

He has played only 5 matches overseas and only really flopped in 3. I like Pant but Ishan above Pant in this format :inti

England win the toss and bowl

Jos Buttler wins the first toss of his England captaincy and he chooses to take the field first.

Gleeson makes his debut

Richard Gleeson, at the sprightly age of 34, makes his England debut as one of two changes to the England line-up.

David Willey also comes into the side while Tymal Mills and Reece Topley drop out.

Four changes for India

Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah come in for Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, Axar Patel and Arshdeep Singh.

Here's confirmation of the two teams:

England: Jason Roy, Jos Buttler, Dawid Malan, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, David Willey, Richard Gleeson, Matt Parkinson.

India: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Ravindra Jadeja, Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal

But using same criteria and logic, Deepak Hooda should have played ahead of Jadeja. However, they have picked Jadeja ahead even though he has absymal t20 international stats.

Yes. Either Hooda or another fast bowler. Jadeja is a poor selection as well.

Bad drop from Roy. His brain is scrambled atm

Good first over from Willey until the last ball

I think Rohit might use Jadeja 's batting better by sending him higher up the order. DK will bat at 7. Jadeja is a better batsman than Axar and Rohit did this change vs SL too.

Good start by India.

Was an epically awful drop by Roy to miss Rohit. Will cost England a lot

Kohli gone cheaply. How much longer can he keep his place ?

Quite a debut so far for the veteran Gleeson.

Another wicket.

Gleeson is on fire. 3 wickets for him. He is on a hat-trick.

India - 61/3 (6.2 overs).

Wow, Gleeson!!

Rohit
Kohli
Pant

What a debut!

And another for Gleeson ! The pendulum swings after a powerful Indian start.

no doubt wonderful pressure bowling, just need someone else to back him and not leak runs

Team management opening with Pant has given a hint that he has no place in the middle order and Dinesh Karthik will be the first choice as a wicketkeeper batsman in the world cup. KL will be back as an opener and Pant will lose his place to him. Kohli is on selfish mode these days. He should stay away from T20Is now otherwise India will once again fail to win the WC. Jadeja isn't going to do much in Australia. I would prefer someone like Deepak Chahar instead. :inti

Matt Parkinson getting taken to the cleaners again. He’s struggling at this level.

india has so many star names but must be disappointing to watch at times as an indian fan how they throw their wickets away

360 degree player gone. Indian team is full of inconsistent players who can't even play 2 good innings back to back. Really miss guys like Yuvi, Raina and Dhoni in the middle order. They used to make full use of their good form. :inti

Nice shot from Pant earlier —

Its T20 and they have a fairly long batting lineup. Its good that they are going for their shots. Bilateral T20s is a good place to try this approach.
