What's new

India (186/5) defeat Zimbabwe (115) by 71 to setup a semi-final clash vs England

This is the performance when there is no pressure. Team is already in SF. Raza will try to pad his stats a bit and score a 50 maybe. Good games today and can't wait for SF. Off to bed

If we have swing to assist they will do it pressure or no pressuer. You need a lot of skill to play when the ball swing both ways on a pacy pitch.

Indian spinners are so awful. Thankfully Pandya has saved them from humiliation in this tournament till now.

India's lack of ability against spin and lack of quality T20 spinners is why we'll lose in this tournament . We are absolutely garbage at spin/spin play.

india need to stop acting and win
ive already bought my SCG ticket assuming its pakistan playing there

Imagine being thick enough to employ two spinners for a t20 game in Aus. Dravid keeps messing up selection.

hope of ashwin and axar's batting to come good...is keeping chahal out of the 11. but those both have been poor with the ball.

Don't know what problem India will have if they pick only one spinner and go with another pacer like Harshal/Shardul for example. Both the spinners have been complete flop. How long will the main Indian swing bowlers,Bhuvi and Arshdeep and main Indian pacers, Shami and Pandya save India from embarassment?

Finger spinners is a no no in Australia. They bring nothing to the table. They won't get purchase here unless it is Adelaide oval or SCG.

Yuzi is far ahead good bowler than ashwin, ashwin is done and dusted

Leg spinners rule T20. Almost all the top ranked spinners are leggies. In Australia it is even more true. Sadly Ind order to have some batting depth they had to leave out Chahal. Chahal bowls. Batting ability 0/100, fielding ability 0/100. So he is being sidelined. Definitely he is the better choice. This is why they should have gone with Kuldeep or Bishnoi.

raza out. wouldn't have liked it if he stayed not out and we got rid of bowlers from other end. always prefer to be good enough to get more established batsman out.

Indian bowling has stepped up. Spin bowling requires a huge improvement. That is where India is behind Pakistan. Shadab.

Yes. He should play instead. :inti

Axar in subcontinent is good. But in Australia it was always a question mark.

If you play Hooda then problem is you have another spinner similar to Ashwin(off spinner both) and Hooda's technique is also not great with bat so in a semi final vs England,it is not a good idea.

Playing Chahal would mean batting will be a bit vulnerable. Hence, we should play Harshal, maybe the long grounds would help him as he is good with the change in pace and is a capable hitter too.

Fifties from Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul and a fine bowling performance powered India to a massive 71-run win over Zimbabwe in their final Super 12 match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup at the MCG in Melbourne on Sunday.

Suryakumar Yadav played yet another breathtaking knock of 61* from 25 deliveries to guide India to a massive total of 186/5.

He walked in to bat with India at 87/2 in the 12th over of the innings and went on the charge straight away. Yadav smashed six fours and four sixes during his majestic knock even though the other middle-order batters found it tough to get going.

Earlier, KL Rahul also played an excellent knock of 51 from 35 deliveries to set the tone for India.

An early Zimbabwe Collapse

Zimbabwe needed a good start to get anywhere near to the steep target of 187. Instead, they suffered an early collapse, losing half of their side for just 36 runs. All the Indian pacers were on song, as they used the conditions to perfection to extract swing and movement. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami brought their experience into play whereas youngster Arshdeep Singh was brilliant once again.

It looked like Zimbabwe would get bowled out for a total below 100 when they lost half of their side for just 36 runs. But Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl put on an excellent stand of 60 runs to lead Zimbabwe's recovery.

Burl was going well but his innings was cut short on 35 from 22 deliveries when Ravichandran Ashwin cleaned him up. Raza also departed three overs later for a well-made 34 from 24 deliveries. Zimbabwe didn't have much batting power left after their departure and were finally bowled out for 115, with 16 balls remaining in the innings.

What next for India?

India already qualified for the semi-finals following South Africa's loss to Netherlands earlier in the day. But their win against Zimbabwe helped them in finishing at the top of Group 2 and set up a semi-final clash against England in Adelaide on November 10.

Just watched the highlights and couldn't believe so many attending the game, understand it was Sunday but still it was Zimbabwe! Are there lots of Indians living in Melbourne?

India vs Pakistan in Pakistan might be the only games our fans will ever be in a minority.

Even for India-PAK games in England , indian fans always are in the majority quite comfortably.
