What's new

India [189, 274] defeat Australia [276, 112] in the 2nd Test by 75 runs to level the series 1-1

hahahha

SOS had no idea that wasn't plumb. The desperation review played off

Jaffa from Umesh Yadav..

India desperately need wickets now.

In form he would have eaten up these two batsmen on this kind of wicket.

ishantsmithviratmomentINDvAUS.gif

Indian commentators also losing the plot. It was obvious there was no glove involved.

Ashwin's desperation got a wicket has cost two reviews.

Surely a 70-100 run lead would be very difficult to overturn on this pitch?

Some Starc fireworks will make this performance by the convicts all the more sparkling.

I believe aus batted poorly today had tbey finished the day on 300/7-8 the game would have been dead and buried for india.alA good morning session keeps the lead under 70 for india and if they score 250 in next dig could be curtains for aus

I think we are done for this match and series.

Don't see how we gonna comeback from here.

Ashwin's had a shocker tbh

Not that surprising to be honest.

This isn't 2012 in the sense he isn't spraying around but this is accurate version of 2012 bowling.

He is accurate but not penetrative enough. Even if he bowls well, he is unable to maintain it for more than a few overs.

Might as well replace him next test.

India scoring 250 on this pitch..:))):)))

Lol the graphic and manjrekar had a mistake at the end.

It said day 3 just finished and i was like 'man this test is moving real slow.'

Just came back to confirm..

Everyone was right.

India are basically duds if you take out Ashwin and Kohli.

Though tbf most teams are.

I think he's bowled too leg side to the lefties in order to exploit the rough outside leg he has forgotten the line that has given him the most success that is pitching it on middle and off and straightening the ball from there.
Also this is some atrocious captaincy from Kohli, jadeja has been massively under-bowled here.

Yeah but for most part of today, the ball was doing nothing from there. So he went around the wicket.

Anyways, we shouldn't look at tactics but at the fundamentals here. The problem is that Ashwin's deliveries isn't having the bite regardless of where he bowls. The drift isn't there. The ball isn't being bowled at a quick enough speed.

Overall, its ineffective bowling.

He bowled well at the start of today and was troubling Warner and even got Renshaw to pop the ball in the air but soon the effectiveness dropped and its been downhill from there.

Also atrocious captaincy by Kohli today. No words can describe how badly he managed Jaddu today.

And DRS decisions,

Our pacers bowled very well though.

India are also unlucky in the sense that the lineup is filled with right handers and Starc's follow through from one end gives terrific rough right outside a rightie's offstup for Aussie spinners to exploit.

Yes speed at which he is bowling is a good observation, if u see how Lyon got his wicket's he bowled it quick and into the good length area.
Ashwin is a tall man if he bowls quicker I think he could also get a bit of extra bounce the way Lyon was getting.

Yeah. We gave them a pitch where it turns from one end and that too only in front of righties.

Starc's follow through may have created the rough but if that's what it takes, then Hazlewood, Indian pacers should have created enough rough for the lefties. But that didn't happen cos the pitch was a bit messed up in front of righties.

And worse part was curators wanted to create a sporting track that turns late into the game. They even watered the pitch but that had no effect it seems. lol.

Cricinfo says thunderstorms forecast for the rest of the test match. Pity as it's shaping up to be a fascinating series.

Australia are obvious favorites but India are just one good partnership (in second innings) away from coming back in the game. It's not over yet. Ashwin's form however is worrying.

This game and series is over, I might as well give Australia props on a well deserved, well played series... It took guts and character to come to India, in that hot weather, on under cooked tracks to win the series, well played, I salute my country of residence...

Australia need to get Usman Khawaja in there for the next test. This phainty just hasn't been the same without a player with Pakistani roots in the Australian side.

India are missing Shami here. He's their one good pacer who can make things happen outta nowhere.

So what's Ishant doing here? Is he losing it already?

India still has a chance due to slow australian batting. If a couple indian batsman can strike gold 2nd innings, aussies wont chase more than 150 in 4th innings... toss was crucial

Ishant is doing exactly what he's supposed to do bud ...Bowl well and get under their skin.

Khawaja is comfortably the worst player of spin out of all the notable Australian batsmen

Ishant Sharma's failed attempt at whatever he tried to do with his face was the highlight of the day for me :)))

So what's Ishant doing here? Is he losing it already?

Smith does his thing with the neck before taking stance. He was mocking it.
BTW India is not missing Shami because issues are spin bowling and batting.Of course Shami would have been better than Lord Ishant Sharma.

Get Jaddu in Kohli.

Ishant does not look like taking wickets and Ashwin is out of sorts. There is no loop and he looks very predictable with his looks n and length.

I can only imagine what the reactions would be if India ever managed to go 2-0 up in a test series in Australia (not gonna happen)

Indian spinners not getting turn anywhere close to what Aus spinners were getting.

Easy pickings for wade and Starc.

Starc has out performed Kohli + Rahane + Pujara combined with the bat.

A Tailender out scoring the entire middle order of India.

I think we are done for this match and series.

Don't see how we gonna comeback from here.

As Mark Butcher said, you've jammed too many Tests into one season with the result that a well-prepared but mediocre opponent is beating you.

The key here - like with Pakistan in England last year - is extra preparation before the series started.

This seems to me to be a Fazal Mahmood / Brian Statham style pitch. Even Glenn McGrath.

It's not so much for the spinners, and it's certainly not for swing bowling. You just need to bowl 125-135K on a miserly line and length, and wait for the erratic bounce to do the job.

Do you think it is a poor pitch because of the bounce?

The pitch seems to have become flat all of a sudden. No turn for the spinners so far today.

Interesting to see what Lyon does here. He was spinning the ball square on n 1st innings.

INDIA 189, AUS 274/9 (120.2 ov)
CRR 2.27
Day 3 - Session 1: Australia lead by 85 runs with 1 wicket remaining in the 1st innings

Do you think it is a poor pitch because of the bounce?
No, not at all. I'm loving it - it's fascinating.

And Australia has to bat last! It's brilliantly poised. I think the groundsman has done well.

The pitch is a classic! Bangalore is always good. The poor batting of India in the series has made the pitch look bad. This is one of the best pitch for test match cricket! Let's hope India redeems its batting in this innings, otherwise they deserve to lose this match also and series (but I don't think they will lose anymore matches in this series)

Ashwin getting zero turn. No wonder he is not getting any wickets.

E even Jaddu not getting any turn. But he is darting in fast and Tailender batsmen have no clue.

Kohli Pujara Rahane have to show that they are better than Starc with the bat.

Starc out scored the entire Indian middle order this series.

India can still win this game if they can somehow give Australia a target of 200 in the fourth inning.

I think Australia are 50 runs short here.

A 150 runs target will be challenging for Australia. India definitely still in it but another collapse and they will lose this series.

A very good start so far! Let's hope for better show from Indian batters for the full innings! Test of their character

Nah....the pitch is spitting for righties from one end. Normal for lefties.

If that wasn't happening and there was no variable bounce, it would be a good pitch.

But yeah we batted real bad and Lyon is bowling incredibly well.

A decent start by India but had a similar start in the first innings before they threw it away.

India gonna win this one. Will set Aus a target of 250-300 and bowl em out for 150

India firmly in the box seat now . . anything over 100, and Australia will struggle big time . . anything over 150, India will win . .

Australia playing into our hands by not having spin at both ends haha!

its the best day to bat, india should capitalize.

Should atleast set a target of 300 here.

What nonsense are you guys speaking? :))

Are you even watching the matches fellas?

Lyon looks like picking a wicket every ball.

We will have to fight hard and hard and not think about any scores. Australia are in such a driver's seat its not even funny.
