What's new

India [204/4] beat New Zealand [203/5] by 6 wickets in the first T20I to take 1-0 series lead

Rishabh Pant missed a golden opportunity to cement his place in LOI teams. I remember in one of the KL Rahul thread I said that the only way I will have KL Rahul in LOI teams is if he takes up wicketkeeping just like Rahul Dravid. :inti

Dhawan should never play an int'l T20 again for us...

I have serious concerns with how unprepared NZ have looked going into games the past year. Sure we arent the most talented team but we normally have a well thoughtout plan and work as a team. This is all over the place bowling.

Its okay man. This is just a bilateral. You use it as trial to find out the combination. I wouldn't worry about loss here.

Why would you do that, we had 8 in the over runs and that was risk less. The rr in 9 you idiot. Now see pandey and co. blow it.

Stead needs to go, our planning and prep has gone out the window since he arrived.

Santner is usually really accurate and good for economical overs. His lines and lengths have been poor tonight.

Maybe should give CdG a chance.

His bowling could be useful here.

The second stringers have bowled poorly and we're still in this :)))

Thats the one benefit to Eden Park is those mishits that would normally be safe go to hand.

If Munro can score here, India's weak middle order can too.

Jadeja has done well here in the last as well.

I don't understand how a team like India can be this top heavy.

How hard can it be for them to find decent middle order batsmen to help their top order..

because team selectors suck. I bet people on forums would have a better idea bout team selection.

We have a number of top order talents like gill, shaw, mayank but most middle order batsman are promoted to top order in domestics as soon as they start scoring so its quite difficult to find a top quality middle order bat.

Our Captain is stupid, the coach and the selectors have been his lackeys. Hopefully it will change now that we have an actual management at bcci instead of those supreme court idiots.

Yes boy.

Think we're ahead, man India fold once the top order is gone.

Jadeja is the danger man.

I told him when Kohli was not out.

I understand that. It's just a weird thing to say. By that logic, 90% of the cricket will be meaningless.

Typically, you hear such things when your team is in a tough spot. This game is clearly not easy for India, even when kohli was there, so you can't blame people for thinking you were just making up excuses.

Why don't India bring Shaw into the middle order? He scored 150 off like 100 balls in one of the A games.

All T20 internationals besides WOrld T20 is meaningless. T20 belongs to leagues.

Big spell for Bennett. Needs to improve and show something to get a squad spot for the WC.

I think its more the fact that International T20 tends to be for the most part just tacked onto tours as a money spinner. The games are fun to watch but hard to get all that excited about a win or a loss in the greater scheme of things.

Good stuff from New Zealand - but still expect India to sneak through and win

It is all about identifying the combination for world T20. NZ is experimenting. india does the same.

Still think 2 spinners is the way to go for the WC.

The bigger boundaries will help. Tonight has been an off night for Santner and Ish.

Say what you will about Eden Park it does have a habit of producing close finishes.

This is a really late game, it's 11 pm here and the match will finish just before midnight.

Eden Park is a great cricket stadium but I do think it's time to move to a bigger ground. Sick of hearing people complain about the dimensions and assume all NZ grounds are small.

Havent they been trying to get a dedicated cricket ground approved in Auckland for years?

We always start an hour later for India. Anything to please our masters at the BCCI.
Nah, they got approval this time around for Eden Park. Usually start earlier because of some resource consents not allowing matches to go too late. Other games start at 7 and finish around 10.30-11.

Last limited overs tour we had late starts as well.

India should win from here.

Disappointing bowling at the death.

Shreyas Iyer should be a permanent fixture for Indian Middle Order... We should persist with him.

Just watching Iyer for the first time properly and boy what a player he is...
