What's new

India [245/3] beat New Zealand [243] by 7 wickets in the third ODI, lead series 3-0

NZ didnt bat 50 overs in any of the 3 games. This is excellent defensive bowling

NZ have got way too more runs on this slow paced wicket....it will be almost impossible for India to chase 244 on this wicket

So NZ fails to last 50 overs in all of 3 ODIs till now. And our best bowler isn't even playing.

lol at NZ.

Also, if nothing balls get you wickets, all bowlers should aspire to bowl them.

Everyone of NZ batsman including Boult wanted to just hack at it. Most of their batsman are hacks except Williamson, Taylor, and Latham.

They could've easily gotten 275 with just bit more patient instead of trying to hack at everything.

No. Apparently they are nothing balls and NZ batsmen are still on vacation. People just cant accept or understand the changes in pace and length

All NZ need to do to win is to get a couple of early wickets, get Rayudu in and not get him out

Thats called panic. When you realize you are way below par score, you hack

So heartening to see pacers stepping up when spinners having a slightly off day, it is almost picture perfect how they feed of each other and share the load, easily the best bowling attack in the world.

However not sure whether we'd have won WC'03 had we batted first. But surely, would've competed better against that ATG Aus team!

India reached 239 in 40 overs while chasing even after Sachin got out in the first over. That was a flat wicket. Back then chasing 300 plus means you have to go from the beginning. 360? You have to from the beginning even now let alone in 2003. India's best chance was to face them on a slightly spinner friendly wicket.

How many of those deliveries were wicket taking deliveries?

On flat wickets the only way to really get wickets is a great delivery or inducing mistakes from the batsmen.

Our shot selection and execution has been abysmal most of this match.

I know. Thats why Ganguly should've opted to bat first in a WC final.

You should not just look at the delivery that got the batsmen out. Look how they set the batsmen up. Look at the pace of the bowler in that over every ball and the length. These are smart bowlers.

How can you associate India with bowling? Their bowlers are like tele tubbies who are incapable of out thinking batsmen.

Yaar trolls aur Bangladeshio kyu seriously lete ho tumlog, surely ain't worth the time and effort.

Pathetic batting again, these are nothing balls our players are hitting straight up.

Should have batted out the overs.

Which translates to "i will never give credit to Indian bowlers".

Make no mistake. I rate all these batsmen highly. They did well in India. Latham, Nicholls, Taylor, Williamson. Guptill. They are actually world class players. Anyone who call them hacks have are just sour.

I think you're taking height for "tiniest." They may be shorter than him, but not "tinier" than him.

It's sorta like being tiny in collegiate wrestling while being a lanky guy wrestling in a 165lbs division, and at the same time, tallest in the division.

Combination of Height/weight i guess...

Yeah you are right I guess, can't remember anyone smaller than him, Muminul Haq may be.

This is basically the reply to anyone suggesting it's the NZ batsman and not the Indian bowlers making the difference. There's two observations from this:

1. Either all (almost) NZ batsmen have suddenly lost form in a matter of 1-2 weeks.
2. SL bowlers are extremely bad for conceding a record total of an ODI series.

May be the change of pace forced them to mistime the ball? They were able to connect effortlessly against perera's pies. What changed now?
Fannie DeVilliers was one such bowler, who used this to great effect even against a prime Tendulkar.

So satisfying to see NZ not crossing 250 in any of the 3 games so far which are being played on these tiny NZ grounds!

Never seen NZ putting up such low totals against India in NZ since 2002 where India also struggled on drop in pitches. It was a horrendous series where only 2 centuries and 5 fifites in 7 ODIs. These are good batting surfaces. Apart from bracewell hacking in the end , in the last match they were 161/8.

Great to see people lecturing on how to take wickets even when India has taken 30 NZ wickets so cheaply.

Anywho.. now onto batting. India will lay the foundation slowly and unleash gradually. You cannot possibly mess this one up :) Now that Pandya is back.

Some forum basics for newcomers

1. Thread is about India/NZ
2. Dont get personal or rude when posting

You not understanding the effect of change of pace is baffling. Im trying to explain how Fizz picks up pickets the same way

Fizz is top 5 ODI bowler. Pandya is ranked 51, Shami ranked 64. No need to bring Fizz here. His bowling is completely different than just changing the speed of a pitch. His bowling has huge amount of movement or swirl to it, at least in Asia conditions. I do not rate him outside of Asia.

Will be good to see a blazing Rohit-Dhawan partnership today.

Kohli hasn't fired too for too long now!

Boult is a great weapon when he shapes away from the left hander. But he ought to pitch further up on the 4th stump

What has ranking got to do with change in pace. BK is 23rd, Pandya is 51 doesnt mean they dont bowl good balls or dont have skills. NZ batsmen were beaten with changes in pace and length.

Too slow a start and a wicket right before they attempt to speed things up is one of the things that tends to happen with this opening pair. They should try to keep the RR around 5 and not get too complacent.

I am kinda tired seeing calculative and clinical approach all the time lol, want Rohit to go all Godzilla on the Kiwis today.

Looks a good batting wicket. Maybe the older ball sticks a bit

Out of form or not they need Southee. No choice. These guys are not new ball bowlers. They should just hope Southee returns to form.
