India (262 & 118/4) defeat Australia (263 & 113) by 6 wickets - Take a 2-0 lead in the series

Gr8 catch...well played by Namma Tamil veeran Ashwin...i fear a collapse here...hope shami and co can stick around and Akshar can score a big one

Lol at performing seniors. :91: :inti

down to the grammar now? mentioned in another post earlier, can't put rohit with others considering recent form.also wrote drop non performing ones. wrote don't drop performing ones. which obviously means don't drop rohit, take a call on KL, pujara, kohli. sheeeshhh needed to explain everything in detail and you ask others to comprehend better.

and you hang on the extra 's' in the seniors. but not a mention of how you messed up by including rohit with others in the post earlier.

How did he manages to catch it.. even Cummins can't believe he catches it really..

Another free wicket for Australia.
But not really a bad plan by Axar to go after the bowling with only Shami and Siraj remaining against the new ball.

great catch from cummins. good innings from axar & ashwin. need to run through the aussies in 3rd innings, can't see us chasing many in the 4th.

Time to dismiss Australia for another 2 digit score.

We seriously need A LH batsman in top order. Jaiswal, Washi have to be contenders. Che pu has to go.

Aus have taken a very huge lead of 1 run. It is going to play on our players minds for the rest of this match. Huge psychological advantage for Australia here. :inti

Lol these Indian fielders are so terrible trying to stop boundaries it looks like this is their first ever cricket match 🤣.. Watch and learn from the aussies

Australia doing a baz-ball here...looking tough now for India from here on.

250 lead and Australia wins this test match

Game's on a knife's edge.

I don't think we can chase anything over 250.

I haven't caught much of the action but the wicket on day 2,looks like a 5th day wicket. Don't enjoy these lottery games. Ind are much the better team and should trust themselves to win on good wickets

This game can be over tomorrow. Pitch seems like a dust bowl one.

Australia are ahead currently.

The second day of the second Test saw the host’s lower-order salvage their innings after Nathan Lyon’s damaging act.

Lyon (5/67) helped Australia reign supreme in the first half of the second day of the second Test, however, Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin inspired a brilliant rearguard action for India.

Having been reduced to 66/4 and then 139/7 during the day’s play, India finished their innings merely one run behind Australia’s 263.

Australian batters showed positive intent in their second innings, finishing the day with 61/1 in 12 overs.

After an unproductive outing in Nagpur, Nathan Lyon got back to top form in the second Test. The off-spinner unleashed his magic in the 17th over of India's innings, trapping India vice-captain KL Rahul leg-before.

He was all over India’s top order after that snaring Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Shreyas Iyer in no time.

Lyon took his fifth scalp in the form of India keeper Srikar Bharat, who ended up top-edging to first slip.

With this breakthrough, Lyon became only the third player to take 100 Test wickets against India after England’s James Anderson (139 wickets) and Muthiah Muralitharan (105 wickets).

Lyon’s 100 wickets include eight five-fors and have come at an average of 34.60.

With 40 wickets in the country, Lyon has equalled Muralitharan to become the fourth-highest wicket-taker against India in India.

Ravindra Jadeja (26) provided a good hand to Virat Kohli for the fifth wicket. The duo added 59 runs before Jadeja was trapped leg-before by Todd Murphy.

At one stage the hosts were seven down while being 124 runs in deficit, but Axar (74) and Ashwin (37) joined hands to add 114 runs for the eighth wicket. This was the highest stand of India's innings.

The left-right hand combination frustrated the opposition spinners even as India inched in closer to the Australia total.

India’s late-order fightback isn’t a new phenomenon. Since 2019, India’s tail (numbers 8-11) has added 2363 Test runs at an average of 18.6. They have four century stands, which is the most for any nation.

Earlier in the day, it was announced that David Warner would sit out of the remainder of the Delhi Test. The opener took a couple of blows to his body and helmet during the first day of the game.

Further tests on Saturday showed Warner had not made a full recovery, with Matthew Renshaw coming in as a concussion substitute.

Cheteshwar Pujara, playing his 100th Test, made a duck in the first innings. With this he has joined an exclusive list of players featuring Dilip Vengsarkar, Allan Border, Mark Taylor, Courtney Walsh, Stephen Fleming, Brendon McCullum, and Alastair Cook.

India star Kohli looked assured during his 44, using his feet well to counter the spinners. However, the batter fell to a close lbw call against the debutant, Matthew Kuhnemann.

Batting in the fourth innings on this wicket will be a tough prospect. Australia's aggressive start means that they have an upper hand going into the third day.

There is only so much tail can do. Both overseas and at home Indian tail have been saving the top order time and again. But these guys keep on getting chances.

Absence of Pant is realized now. How many matches he saved for India by turning the tables completely.

Aussies finally understood & showed intent with the bat. Bazball, ausball whatever you want to term it is the only way to succeed in these pitches against such raging monstrous spinners. Anything less than 200 & Ind will chase it. Aus need somewhere around 250 as they have limitations on their own bowling. It's basically the off spinners. Cummins looks extremely confused & exhausted as bowler. Perhaps he is indeed an overrated bowler who can't perform on subcontinent. Starc is a must for next text. He will go for runs, but he is only one capable of handling this lower order resistance with his yorkers & reverse swing. Shami has already shown that's extremely effective in these pitches. An exciting day awaits, which bizzarely might turn out to be the last day as both batting line up have tendency to self destruction.

Aus on top.

India will find it hard to chase 200+ in 4th inning here with shaky batting.

It is one of those surfaces where you can go from 80/1 to 100/6 in no time. India has a stranglehold over this pitch for 36 years bit like how Australia had over Gabba. There is every chance it may be breached given how many players in the Indian side are undeservedly persisted with for far too long.

one of the australian batsmen has to score a ton to win. India will have no problem chasing 200.

Game nicely balanced, but Aussies have a habit of folding like a pack of cards vs spin. If they can get a 250 lead here should make for a very interesting last inns for India.

Australia need 250 minimum. Anything less than that should get chased down by India.

This is Mirupr type black soil pitch. Very very hard to score runs in 4th innings. 150 will feel like 300. I am talking about inform batting side. This has 4 or 5 passengers. So 250 is impossible to chase. Around 150 India will get there huffing and puffing.

This game is all but wrapped up imo.
Australia has won this, they are the better team in this match.

Aus will set a target of around 250 and Indians will be bowled out for about 180, if Aus sets a target above 250, then Indians will struggle to get past 150 due to scorecard pressure.

I said Aus would come back in a thread previously, 1-1 and setting up for a great series.

I think India are still in it, they only need to get a few wickets and things change very quickly, Aus will have their hands full trying to get in a winning position.

Having three spinners for the last innings could work in Aus favor though as long as they get runs on the board.

Need quick wicket desperately. Not only will it keep scoring in check it will keep morale alive. Our batting engine has failed and team knows this. They know there will be no runs coming from KL, ChePu and former Kaptaan. Chase of 200+ on this track is out of question.

If I were K.L Rahul, I would have personally demoted myself to domestic cricket out of embarrassment, and then try to earn back my place in the international team.

Travis Head has a bit of mini-ABD in him. Not afraid of going after bowlers although he may not have as good a defense as AB.

Australia's batting depth and class is such that they have 4 bats in the ICC top 10 - Khawaja, Head, Marnus, Smith. India have only 2 and Pant is injured.

Good point.

And he is lookalike of ABD too.

Marnus gone..Jadeja with the breakthrough.

Two each for Ash-Jaddu.
