India (285/9d & 98/3) crush Bangladesh (233 & 146) by 7 wickets in the 2nd Test match to clean sweep the series 2-0

Such a brilliant cricket Akashdeep is turning out to be. Can't believe we were playing the useless Mukesh, Avesh, Khaleel etc ahead of this guy for so long. He bowls, bats and fields better than all of them.

Rain is waiting and don't think we can see anymore Play today .
Maximum 7-8 overs from now on .

What degenerate moron choose a low class stadium in some village like kanpur lmao.

Rain now. Ruined the game.

Is the stadium really bad? Not watching the game just checking scores

Raining very heavily so no more Play today . Same story tomorrow

Poor venue, poor pitch and poor weather .

India has atleast 30 ground for test cricket still they choose this pathetic venue.

UPDATE:

Due to incessant rains, play on Day 1 has been called off in Kanpur.

BAN 107/3 (35)

Play was called off on Day 1 of the second Test between India and Bangladesh after just 35 overs due to rain and bad light disrupting play. Akash Deep took the wickets of openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam, while R Ashwin dismissed captain Najmul Hossain Shanto. Bangladesh ended the day at 107 for 3, with Mominul Haque top-scoring with an unbeaten 40. He remained at the crease alongside Mushfiqur Rahim, who will be aiming to become the first Bangladeshi batter to score 6,000 Test runs on Day 2.

Shadman departed following a brilliant DRS call by India, but they later wasted two more reviews on unsuccessful challenges. Earlier in the day, Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Looks like this test will be a boring draw unless India can produce magic.

Such a shame. I think we could also have had the 2nd test in Chennai.

Rain is the forecast for the entire belt from Kanpur thru to lucknow, even Gwalior - where t20 is going to be played , till even Vrindavan, Gurugram and as far as Varanasi in the east, for the next week or so. Unless something spectacular happens, this is going to be one watery draw.

No need to get cocky.

Most likely. Yup.

Anyway, draw is a draw. Doesn't matter if it happens due to rain. It gives valuable points for WTC table and ICC Test rankings.

This wont be a draw...we won't let BD leaving Uttar Pradesh by drawing a test match with India. Lots of time left in this game.

Its got a lot of industries and its economic turnover might rival a few island nations....not exactly a village m8!...

Prior to the start of this contest, there was forecast of rain during the first three day of the 2nd Test in Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh). Day 1 was heavily impacted by the rain, and it seems that the story will be the same on Saturday too. As per weather.com, there’s prediction of thunderstorms and “100 per cent” chance of rain.

Tamim Iqbal Questions DRS Decision That Went In India's Favour. Ravi Shastri Responds

Former Bangladesh cricket team captain Tamim Iqbal questioned the DRS decision that led to Shadman Islam's dismissal on Day 1 of the second Test match against India in Kanpur on Friday. The dismissal led to a debate between Tamim and former Indian cricketers Ravi Shastri and Dinesh Karthik. The ball-tracking technology decided that it was a dismissal but Tamim was of the opinion that it was sliding down the leg-side. Akash Deep was convinced that it was a dismissal and after the successful review, even Rohit was left stunned. It was a very important wicket for India in that situation but Tamim was not convinced and he raised questions about the DRS technology used in that particular delivery.

"I thought that was sliding down the leg stump but DRS had other ideas," Tamim said in commentary.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri, who was in the commentary box with Tamim, disagreed to his statement and said that the camera angles can sometimes create an illusion.

"DK spoke about the camera angles. It's not always absolutely straight, so it can give the impression that it is sliding down. Bounce was never going to be an issue in Kanpur. The Indian team was also surprised. There was only one member who believed it was out and that was Akash Deep," said Shastri.

Outfield is still pretty wet and it doesn't look likely that the play will start anytime soon.

Reminds me of a one-off Test between these two sides in 2015. That was rained out also.

BAN 107/3 (35)

Day 2: Stumps

Play on day two has been abandoned without a ball bowled. 35 overs yesterday and none today. The entire ground has been covered and that's been the story throughout the day. There was no rain for a couple of hours but there was plenty of water on the covers.

India currently tops the World Test Championship (WTC) standings with 71.67 percentage points after 10 matches, positioning them for a third consecutive final appearance. However, their path may be complicated if the second Test against Bangladesh ends in a draw due to rain.

A 2-0 series victory would have required only three more wins from eight remaining matches to secure a final spot. Now, India may need five wins from eight matches, assuming other contenders don't drop points. This challenging route involves sweeping New Zealand 3-0 at home and winning at least two matches in the five-game Border-Gavaskar series against Australia.

India's strong home record and recent Australian successes provide confidence, but the margin for error has narrowed. The upcoming home series against New Zealand is crucial, as a 3-0 sweep would alleviate pressure. Two wins in Australia would be impressive, but the challenge is significant.

The Indian team hopes for a break in the rain to resume play in Kanpur. Every lost session increases the difficulty of reaching the WTC final. With talented bowlers like Akash Deep making an impact, India seeks to capitalize on any opportunity to control the game.

The stakes are high, with WTC qualification looming. Rain at Green Park Stadium adds complexity to India's plans.

Don't think play can start before lunch .any shower of rain, day will be called off. Such a pathetic facility .

This venue doesn't deserve to host any test matches .

Some one mentioned a good suggestion in ci. All the grounds with good drainage facilities should only host matches in rainy season .All the old stadiums should get matches in summer and that too before the deadline.Bcci gives 500 crores/year to each association and this kanpur association must be one of the most corrupt along with goa, kashmir ,Hyderabad etc

Next inspection to take place at 12 PM IST. 2 hour from now on. What a mockery of test cricket.

Many I'll intentioned Indian posters like @Nikhil_cric were mocking Pakistan during the recent series against Bangladesh.

Here we have bare foot labourers trying to clear a ground using buckets kids use to build sand castles on a beach and rocks by the look of it.

Two high profile test matches ruined in India in less than a few weeks. What a shame!

What a useless incompetent dumb narcissistic spineless gutless pieces of trash management. Who decides to play in kanpur ffs. Absolutely hopeless.

What a waste of a weekend. Now points lost for wtc. Anyway it doesn't matter. We don't take that seriously as it is given its always in England.

Look at lanka. They had rain, yet their drainage system allowed them to play lmao. Bcci with all the funding is still horrendous to find suitable back up options If things go awry.

This is really a poor management from.BCCI. was down with flu thought gonna watch some test match cricket but can't

The Latest inspection is done is there will be no play at least for the next couple of hours. The next inspection will be at 2pm.

Yes but Kanpur was not even among the venues for our last ICC event.

We have enough venues where this isnt an issue at all.

PAK apparently only have 3 international standard venues and it happened at one of those venues which a certain local poster assured us has the best drainage in Pakistan.

We can't comment on the imaginary venues where things may or may not have happened differently.

Just what's in front of us on the screens.

Hair dryers, buckets, barefoot staff, sad kids in the stands ( although I dunno why they are school on a Sunday).

And a few weeks ago dishes washed in toilet water and upset guests.

A true shame.

There are no imaginary venues. The World Cup took place in India where nearly all venues had none of these issues. Wankhede, Eden, Chinnaswamy, Chepauk.

On the other hand, PCB will have to hold CT in imaginary venues considering the shambolic state of their so called premier stadium at Pindi.

It is imaginary as we don't know how they would have behaved under the heavy rain experienced in Pindi and the light rain here.

We can only comment on what's in front of us and this is a complete mess.

Who told you this is light rain? It has been raining constantly for the past few days in that entire stretch from Kanpur to Bodh Gaya at least. I know because I was travelling there.

And there was no heavy rain on the first day of the first Test at Pindi.

Here is a million dollar idea: schedule matches in those rain-proof venues during rainy season.

Why BCCI choose kanpur a test venue when facility are not available .

Its BCCI fault so no need to defend them . They are richest boards so what the use of this when they can't even ready a ground to play cricket When there is no rain for more than 7 hours .

Rain is not a problem but atleast start rhe match after rain Stop in a hour .

All the talk about prioritise test cricket is nonsense.

Even if you accept that the rain could delay the match there is no excuse for the staff. Seeing barefoot labourers clear the crowd doesn't scream worlds richest board at all.

It looks like a scene post flood damage in a village with people trying to rebuild their homes with the very little tools they have available.

Kanpur is historic venues but idiots (BCCI/ UPCA) don't even upgraded the basics facilities , Drainage system since long time .

Before the test ,news was circulating that kanpur is unfit to host any cricket match yet they chose this venue .

This is incompetent of height order .

Isn't this more UPCA's fault? Who asked them to build 2 more stadia in Varanasi and the other one when they can't even improve their historic venue in Kanpur?

I feel these events are going to give a lot of well deserved negative flak to the money guzzling dolts at BCCI. More awareness of what an international grounds drainage system ought to be, stand's compliance and security etc. I know the stadium upkeep may not be 100 pc under the BCCI umbrella or a large part ought to be of the local association.
But i'd trust the blow torch to be turned on the gadzillion machine and rightly so they should be under the microscope for at least part of the fiasco, that is the Kanpur test so far on the 3rd day when it has stopped raining.

So no match no points. what a great move from bcci to play match in Antique kanpur stadium

Its BCCI faults to allocate a test match to unfit ground.

We have 50 cricket stadium to play cricket yet they chose kanpur bcz Of Rajeev Kumar influence

Btw im not favour of playing test cricket at any random vanue.

Chose 7-8 best venues from across india and Play test cricket only there .

T20 or ODI cricket can play on another ground but not test cricket .

Bhai game start karo. I have made a promise to brother @sweep_shot that we won't let BD team leaving the state of UP by drawing a test match against Bharat albeit due to rain. However, with just a bit over 2 days left, it can be difficult to pull up a result, even against a minnow like Bangladesh.

Yes it's BCCI's fault for allocating it to Kanpur considering what a disaster it is.

But it's UPCA's fault for not upgrading an iconic venue like Green Park.

In the World Cup, metal poles were coming off from the Ekana stadium .

Can't fault BCCI alone when the stadiums are being operated by UPCA.

Instead of building vanity projects like Varanasi why not make sure these 2 are world class for both spectators and players.

Now India need to win atleast 5 test matches from 8 test to qualified for WTC final. Anyways WTC final doens't matter but series win in australia is much more important .

Winning 2 test in Australia will be next to impossible. I know we won last 2 series but this Australia under Cummins is a better side. Also, Kohli went back home last time helped. I think WTC Finals will be played between Aus and SL this time.

IPL money is the reason to build new stadium instead upgrading historical venues.

If BCCI Stop allocating the matches then they forced to upgrade the old stadium. this is where BCCI Major fault .

They want to host IPL matches to earn money its a business but we as a genuine cricket fans are paying of their Greediness

This is the reason why i hate IPL .we were robbed a test series win in england due to IPL .

SL need to win the four matches from 5 test ( 2 vs australia at home and 3 vs South Africa away)

"The sun is finally out but play called off for Day 3 due to wet outfield.

What a irony. Shame on BCCI

8 valuable WTC points gone to drain. :facepalm

Now India have to take atleast 16 points (1 win and a draw) in Australia provided we sweep New Zealand 3-0. The two rained out games (other one being in WI last year) will come back and bite us come next year.

Day 3 called off

BCCI
A second consecutive day was washed out in the second Test match between India and Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Despite three separate inspections, the umpires decided to call off play due to the wet outfield. The lack of sunshine in the morning left several soggy and wet patches on the pitch, making it a safety concern for the players. Despite bright sunlight in the afternoon, no play could take place.

If we can dismantle bdesh for under 250 tomorrow and just bat and post 400 as soon as possible. Maybe we can have a craxk at them on day 5. Wishful thinking though.
