India [324/4] beat New Zealand [234] by 90 runs in the 2nd ODI, lead series 2-0

Not sure if he will be around after WC. If he is, he will bat at 5.
 
The reason they were bowling short to Kane was because he got out hooking against SL on this ground couple of weeks ago. Having said that bowling length balls is the way to go forward as the last maiden over proves it.
 
I think catching under lights is a big problem in this ground
 
I feel our middle order woes are way overblown, no team is chasing 300+ 9/10 times if Top 3 are out under 30-40 so to expect ours to do different is wishful thinking.

Dhoni still hasn't convinced me with his batting in 2019 (despite great scores) but he's shown signs of life, Jadhav also gets unnecessary flak. Always ups the scoring rate and bowls well when required.

Pandya in place of Shankar would add much needed firepower in middle-order and once we bin Rayudu for a proper bat we are good to go.
 
All over for NZ. One of Guptill, Kane or Munro had to fire and fire big. Ross can't do it all by himself

Dhoni scoring 12 runs in 5 overs is okay with you? Those are slog overs. india might win because of superior bowling attack. Once our top order flunks our middle order will hopelessly be exposed.
 
Another 5-0 coming up for India. Absolute beast of an ODI team. Easily the best ODI side in the world.

And look where we are, absolute rubbish in comparison.

No it is not right but Dhoni =/= entire middle order, he takes his time to get in but can hit few at the death. Problem is plodders at the other end too who refuse to take any risk, Rayudu was leaving balls in 42nd over after he'd been batting for 45 minutes. It's just poor strategy.

Once again, 9/10 times if you're chasing 300+ and your entire Top 3 fails you're going to lose that game.

Kick all of them out. That is not the only problem Dhoni has. Far too many fumbles. Letting easy byes. Dropping catches. Just doing occasional fancy fast stumping is not enough.

I can understand your pain. But unless he is miraculously injured, he is not going to be replaced.

Remember, one thing Dhoni has on his side is luck.. or fate or whatever you wanna call it. Even in such horrible touch he is winning India games whether you like it or not. SO all you can do is pray that Dhoni's luck comes good in the World Cup, coz he isnt gonna be dropped whatever you do.
 
and just like that he gets NZ best ODI batsman in the hut, Dhoni has his flaws but he's still very valuable to this side.

Jadhav is so underrated, got nice drift on that delivery!
 
Dhoni's recent short-comings don't over-come his presence when his side's fielding. That's amazing and just another highlight to his amazing keeping to spin over the years.
 
Raina was backed for his part time bowling
He was never as effective as Jadhav who hardly bowled in domestic competitions

ThTs no way a regulation stumping. His speciality is , there is no pull back or give when he collects the ball. He's lightning quick. The timing of it is just brilliant
 
Dhoni special! Why he needs to be in WV team - mentoring, calmness in the middle of chaos, anchor when things go south in batting and lightening reflexes. He of course is not as explosive as before and his catching is not that good but overall still an asset. Pant can come in ODIs after the WC or play in Test matches. For ODIs India needs Dhoni till World Cup!

He may be brilliant in stumpings.But keeping is not all about stumpings. He is avg against the quick bowlers.

On a 350 run patta, first India floundered and made 30-40 runs less and now kiwis are struggling to make even 200. Why can’t these two teams learn how to score.

Spinners are bowling 25 overs and he's the best in the business against spinners. For the other 25, pant is as bad or worse than Dhoni. Anyway, it's a matter of months.

Vijay Shankar needs to be given opportunities to bat in coming matches to show what he is capable of with the willow

His bowling is meh
Even Ganguly was a better bowler than this guy

Yeah he is the best we have. But many show his stumping to prove he is a gr8 overall keeper. At best he is an avg keeper. Pant is a part time keeper at the moment.

Last I heard, Dhoni doesn't even practise his keeping much. His insights and keeping against spinners are an asset
 
New Zealand are a good outfit, but they are no match for the might of India.

India and England are the two best ODI teams by some distance. However, England are prone to some terrible lapses in concentration.

He shouldn't be considered as bowler or all rounder.

Sehwag, yuvi were much better than him even though they were only batsman.
 
We did score 20 runs less here after the start we had . Hosts not out of the contest as this is a flat deck .
