What's new

India (364 & 298/8 dec) defeat England (391 & 120) by 151 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series

was a prime lbw candidate, with that exagerrated shuffle...
Whats happened to his technique, at one point i thought he was a tough lower order bat and hard to dislodge

He was looking to score some runs here (as always its easier On-side). If blocking is the necessity, then he can do it with conviction (that's why he bats above them all). All depends on the situation of the match. He can do a night watchman's job to good effect (shielding top order batsmen)

Manjrekar: "The tail is wagging for India"

Please.

Sadly the wrong bowler got the wicket. I wanted to be able to post “Wood bursts through Pant”.

:)))

Proceeding about as expected for me thus far.

Loving the handbags going on out there too. :boycott

About 200 to win?

Kohli cheering for every runs .seem like some exchange of words happened in between overs

How much a lead is India looking to have here? Would 200 runs do it?

Kohli with the classic punjabi swear word Paan... ill leave the rest up to your imagination lol

Am sure Jazz boom or the rest of the indian management and team wont go up to the eng guys and sook like wet hankies....look at the way they are going at jazzboom
Jim grump u legend of the game....as far as your behaviour on a lot of occasions is concerned - pernenial serial whinger who can't handle the heat when its directed at him...

Bumrah thoroughly deserves this treatment after what he did (deliberately) a couple of evenings ago. Got no sympathy for him whatsoever. It might backfire and massively fire him up for his imminent bowling though.

Pant should come out guns blazing playing his natural game which if it comes off could take their lead to over 200 in the first hour itself.

Doubt that he could survive for long if he goes defensive as naturally his game is attacking and that 80+ SR in tests and FC shows that for Pant.

He may look to get his eye in for the first 5-7 overs then start going after the bowlers but anything over 200 and England will panic slightly.

This way why I said earlier that Pant should play his natural game and put runs on the board as he was left with the bowlers. He got out defending with the bat face open and could not add much to the score either.

They do not even have 200 yet on the board either.

This is India's session so far.
They have put on 40 runs so far. A target of above 200 can be tricky

England deliberately try to hit bumrah head through bouncer's

Yep, same as Bumrah was doing to England’s number 11 batter the other night. Bowling deliberate no-balls to torment him further. Tough cricket guy.

Robbo has 18 wickets in his first three tests, average 19.

How do you know its delibrate? at least two of them were marginal and he was going full steam...
Your legend is a total tool when it comes to onfield behaviour
after he was dismissed, his grumpy side came to the front , jazz who is one of the nicest guys tapped him on his shoulder in a friendly way to be met with a volley of abuse from your champ...

English players are constantly attacking him since the time he bowled few bouncers to Anderson. Aparently Bumrah should have bowled half vollies for ATG Anderson to hit a few.

Live by the sword, die by the sword.

There used to be a fast bowler’s union where they wouldn’t bounce each other but sadly no longer.

England have lost the plot here trying to intimidate Bumrah rather than try and bowl in the conventional channel and get him caught at the wicket.

Funny thing, emotions.

no balls werent deliberate.Hes not foolish to have the chance off a wicket of a no ball after CT 2017

He bowled 10 in first Test too.

Bumrah is a professional cricketer. That many no-balls in one over in that situation can not possibly be an accident, no chance. It was blatant unsporting behaviour.

England players like Buttler and Stokes will always be welcomed in IPL. Sledging happens in such a close contest.
Pakistanis on the other hand, no matter how much they crave will never get to see an IPL contract.

That i totally agree with and am saddened by this unspoken deal's demise...
i guess the first time this was transgressed so blatantly was by Glen mcg and co, aus vs windies in 1994 or so tour...

England are leaking singles.

Atrocious field here.

England are over complicating things
Just put on slips and bring Jimmy on
No need for these theatrics from wood

Why do they have to start the game at 11.00 AM and not earlier? I'm sure it gets bright enough in England at 9.30 at this time of the year.

Lead is 200 now .just play another 8-10 over .
220 in 70 over is not a easy Target .

All eng need to do is bowl at the base of those three pieces of wood....
as far as inept tailenders go, ours has to be amonsst the all time worst
they are getting their emotions to get the better of them...
Anderson is the best in that regard, just a length outswinger will do these guys...
but am not complaning....more of the same please

Only Anderson can realistically sledge without any fear of losing his non existent IPL contract

Who told you that sledging will deny you IPL contract! In fact people get recognized (get identified) doing that! Otherwise most of these bowlers/players go unnoticed! In fact in that what they are knocking at IPL contracts! IPL owners (even BCCI for that matter) are not patriotic maniacs to get sentimental about their local players!

Bro bowler can bowl bouncers. How is it unsporting.

See above from Robert. Fast bowlers targeting each other with bouncers isn’t supposed to be morally allowed. Traditionally it was considered against the unwritten code of a cricketer’s professional ethics. Sort of like Mankading still is. But things clearly have changed.

No gully and a gazzilion catches go there. :))

If India wins this, Root will regret this a lot.

But the pitch looks dead so highly unlikely.

Agree. Strauss and Atherton in the commie box like “omg calm down plz”. How about no. This is proper Test cricket and it’s brilliant viewing.

It sure is :))

Who does Anderson think he is? Bumrah tried to have a friendly word with him at the end of it all and even patted his shoulder, but Anderson thinks he's special and kept grumbling away.

Now England gonna lose :)))

Our tailenders are doing fine. I don't know of any other teams that can score 60+ runs, still counting, starting from no 6 in the lineup.

really.. morality.. ha ha ha. We are playing test cricket lolz. Say that to Starc and Cummins in Ashes please.

Cummins injured Shami in Adelaide this year.No one complained.

Yes things have changed

Why hasn't Anderson come on? Sending his lackeys to avenge the perceived slights to his massive ego :)))

Or is he too old to scare anyone :afridi

Which IPL franchise will not bid on match-winning talent just coz they sledged an Indian player?

Exactly.
Even Andrew Symonds got IPL contracts after monkeygate, and he wasn't all that great a talent either.

Not especially intelligent cricket from England.

Kohli will be super charged and ready to sledge given the proceedings that happened today.
Spice in the cricket, good to see.

Yes. I totally agree. shouldnt be bouncing tail enders.
We've copped it i guess much more than other nations. A lot of our tailender spinners have copped it and they cant fight back.
You can lay some portoin of the blame on the 1994 aus vs wi tour, where glenn mcgrath bounced walsh, ambrose a lot....
u could say that was one watershed tour when it became apparent anyone and everyone with protective gear on , is fair game.
As far as mankading goes, i wish it would be renamed as bowlers run out or back up runout or some other fancy jargon.
A batsman who takes a head start before the ball is bowled is blatantly cheating and getting an unfair advantage.
Vinoo Mankad warned bill brown of aus in a tour game and DIDNT run him out
Bill brown did it again in a test match and vinoo mankad ran him out.
The travesty is that his name, Mankad proved to be catchy enough for the headline writers to tag this form of dismissal as mankaded.
It should actually be called 'Browned'.
Its a travesty, to the fair name of mankad, 2 generations of those who served Indian cricket both domestically and internationally with the typical indian attributes of restraint in victory and dignity in defeat.
Don bradman himself was against naming this as 'Mankaded'.
my 5 c 's worth...

India have the highest win percentage whole defending 200 plus totals away from home. A positive sign.

Agree. Strauss and Atherton in the commie box like “omg calm down plz”. How about no. This is proper Test cricket and it’s brilliant viewing.

That's why England need a new batch of commentators in the box who were actually the best batsmen/bowlers of their era. Not these 35-40 averaging one format duds.

Just like how they picked some Pakistani players based on "good words" spoken by Afridi/Akther or someone about Indian Cricket/Cricketers!
