What's new

India beat South Africa in 4th ODI by 35 runs

Even de Villiers hasnt produced match winning innings especially while chasing.

He averages higher when chasing than batting first. And match winning innings? Plenty of those.

Chasing? That's not true at all. His 136 against Australia last year is a recent example, or 89 against NZ (not out).

He averages 79.5 when chasing in wins with some really tough chases in there. 16 50s, 4 centuries in 54 matches. That is incredible.

Considering that indians were laughing at our crowds in UAE in a test. They cant even fill half of their ODI stadiums. :))

That part of the ground has some sort of issue or something. Commentators touched upon it.

Well....AB. Awesome innings considering who he was batting with for the majority of it. But still South Africa, close but no cigar.

When well set with 100+ and target looks within reach , phewwwwwwwwwwwwwww

AB will fight it out alone..He will take the game close and throw it just before finishing off...He is very watchful here though...

I said that....But a wonderful inning...His best inning perhaps...

India's fielding has let them down today. Need Jadeja back, he alone lifted our fielding standards so high.

Steyn could easily become a bowling all-rounder, but needs to concentrate on his main task, for the sake of his team.

Please don't tell him that. He might insist they let him open :P He takes his batting quite seriously, in tests anyway.

Well i mean during deciders or big stages or where it means the most.

Ah, so context is added now when you were proven wrong. Fun when one is wrong they add brand new caveats.

Furthermore today he was in an impossible situation. If you blame him for today, then you really have a different standard for him than any other player.

And again these decider numbers are simply wrong.

In the 5th match of a series he averages 80 with 2 centuries and 7 fifties in 17 innings.

What do you expect him to do?

Cricket is the most difficult sport for a player for by themselves take the team on their shoulders and win. With scores of 250-300+ and no one else is scoring runs, what is he supposed to do?

Just jargon with no basis.

SAF had a very long tail today. They went in with 5 regular batsmen today.

Ok. You are correct. I added the context when i was proven wrong.

You added the context and were still proven wrong :baelish
With context, no [emoji14]

He hasnt played a knock where he has single handedly won a game for his team while chasing on big occasions or big stages etc. Like series deciders, WC etc.

I hope you prove me wrong again :D

And again, go look yourself, I already gave you examples and just refuse to accept them.

WC is one example, but series deciders, again, 80 average in 17 matches, 7 50s, 2 centuries.

Its not about refusing to accept! I have such standards in my mind, honestly! Not just for him but for many great batsmen!

Single handedly winning a match (where other batsmen have failed) on a big stage etc is what I want! At least one!

Great average but I want something else!
