Eng should positively here and add some runs. Just waiting there will not do much. Eng does not have any skill to bat without attacking here. Even Indians, except Pujara, don't have it.

Pant is talented but not the most mature and level-headed individual out there. Apparently isn't the safest pair of gloves either. Reminds me of the Akmal brothers.

Since you can't open a Pant vs Akmal thread now without being laughed away by even your fellow Pakistani posters, guess this is the next best and safest option :rabada2

We saw that in Australia when sydney and gabba were playing like rajkot on day 5. Only SA prepares poor wickets rest are all fine

Stop this Rona dhona . whenever India tour in NZ or England they provided green pitch for India .it's India turn whatever we want ,we get it .same for every home teams

"I hope Pakistan beats India and Pant doesn't score any runs so both Pant's average is disturbed and Pakistan win." :batman:

Agree aus pitches had gone flat but what about nz, eng pitches. Whenever subcontinental team visits they dish out pitches full of grass.

See the contasting pitches at same ground in Chennai for this test and previous test. Thats whats pitch fixing. When u remove curators, complain like Kohli and change character of pitches. Which team removes their curators and abuses them like Shastri

Don't know if didn't see it, but it as clearly a 2 but kuldeep was too slow. Cricinfo even spells it out the the only reason pant ran was becae there was a 2 there

And it's hilarious you compare with akmals because bowlers like Cummins are pointing out how pant has a brilliant cricketing game and the reason eh is so consistent is excuse he knows which bowler to targer

At this point peokle who compare him to akmals seem to be delusional and wishing instead of living in reality

Stop being emotional. There was never two runs there; the ball did not go far enough. He reminds me of the Akmals given his personality and his game. Not saying that he's going to have a better or worse career than them.

Chennai Pitch always turns and spins. Since forever.
Karachi pitch was fast bowling paradise.. your curators turned it into a spinners paradise within 5 days lol..

England lost the mental game. Ashwin very rarely turned the ball except a couple of ones in the fag end. They got into this defensive mindset. They are lucky they were not facing Jadeja on this pitch. Last time took a 7fer against them.

you are talking like Trump lol This is a red soil pitch. It will break eventually.

Always a good sign when there's some :sree on Indian match threads.

No offense to anyone! :yk

England have come out after lunch with a more positive mindset, which is good; but with the combination of everything here — scoreboard pressure, the top order gone, quality spin bowlers, fielders around the bat, the wicketkeeper chirping, variable bounce, the pitch disintegrating — they look to be wedged in a very deep and hopeless chasm at the moment! I’d be pleasantly surprised if two out of Stokes, Pope, Foakes and Moeen could put on a big partnership here and at least keep this contest mildly competitive.

Exactly....

I was wondering the same...

Tho its starting to explode now for some deliveries...

Is it the effect of heavy roller?

Yesterday i was saying the same thing. The worst thing is give in to hype and tjrow your wicket away only to watch another batsman have the right mindset and play properly.

You are always going to get some unplayable deliveries but tahts with any tough pitch.

Be it Gabba, Perth, Joberg, etc...

But when you get in, you can play as Pant showed.

Pietersen and Cook got in and made the pitch look flat in 2012 lol.

These posters need to go to YouTube and watch the commentary of India vs Aus 1998 Chennai.

Axar has bowled much much better than Nadeem and I'm putting this respectfully.

By the way, there is no blame attached to anyone on the Indian side for this pitch being tailored to suit India. This is a tour of India and India is the home side. The overseas side playing the home side in unfamiliar conditions is all a part of the challenge of Test Cricket and the World Test Championship.

Yes, India are fully entitled to preparing these pitches, just as England have the prerogative to produce pitches that suit Anderson and Broad. It's totally up to the away side to cope.

Rona dhona is done by kohli shastri whrnevr they lose they prepare such pitches. I am only stating what i felt

WTC - You can pick who you play and also there is no requirement for home and away. WTC format is a joke in the current format.

Kuldeep hasnt played test cricket since the last Australian tour back in 2018-19. He may not even be needed here. The guy's test career just cant catch a break

It is an entertaining test pitch. Test runs aren't supposed to be easy.

Yeah how dare they prepare this type of wicket...

They should have prepared a Trent Bridge type wicket just like how England prepare a Nagpur type wicket whenever we tour there right? :))

England would worry about their batsmen coping with Bumrah, Ishant, Shami, maybe even Bhuvi :rabada2

The only good Indian pitch is a pitch where India loses.

Too bad that is so rare and far between :smith

Plenty of :uak in the interim.

Might be early to say this but Pope and Foakes seem to have better footwork against spin than Root/Stokes & co.

I was like a 1000% sure it was going over.

Damn.

This is the problen with Kohli

Today these reviews wont matter. In a close game, it will.

Umpire's decisions have been actually pretty good in this series.

There was no Rona dhona about the pitch during the first test.

Had we won the toss in the first test and piled on runs when the pitch was at its best during first 2 days and England collapsed characteristically, we'd have heard similar sooks.

The pitch is so hot...

England's feet are :hamster:

Need to watch a couple more innings of this before you start feeling sorry for them.

Actually, if play with good footwork then it looks much easier.

Am enjoying watching Pope and Foakes bat.

Over-rate is up to early eighties speed, good to see.

Why has the Chennai crowd been let in for this test but not the previous one? Surely a COVID super spreader event?

If you apply well as a batsman, you get value of your runs, keeping a few unplayable deliveries aside.

Its always good to watch players fighting in different conditions.

In the remaining Tests also the Toss would be important , this is beauty of Test Cricket , you need to adjust to different conditions

England bat deep with Moin at 8 , but issue is the batsmen are not good players of spin , so even if you have 11 batsmen , it will not make much of a difference

Trent bridge its about weather not the pitch. When you cudnt win on a sporting wicket prepare a dustbowl

Can’t watch the match but I read on Twitter that the pitch is exploding. Is this true?

Ashwin likely to get 400 Test wickets in 77 - 78 Tests , that is massive effort , on top of that many usefull innings batting at number 8 , he is no doubt Indias biggest series winner in Tests in last 20 years

India need to win this match at all costs. If they don’t win, they are out of the WTC Final.

England is a top team and they are difficult to beat on flat wickets. Hence, India was well within their right to produce a turner in order to benefit from home advantage.

They will not roll out a “sporting” wicket and sabotage their chances of qualifying for the final just to please crying Pakistani fans on PP.

If by exploding they mean huge puffs of dust each time a ball lands on the surface then yes, it's true. However, apart from Ben Stokes, the other batsmen got themselves out.

Replica of what kohli shastri duo prepared for SA series in 2015 where i guess 2 of the pitches were rated as 'poor' by ICC

Not long to wait until gloomy May/June in England, then you'll get to watch these Lawrences and Charlies score a 70 and life will be back to normal yo.

India could have lost the toss as well , they took a chance , every team prepares wicket to suit them.

I think India and England the difference was not much , but Rohit made a massive gap , his innings was difference between 230 and 330 at least , if India had got to 220 , the match would have been on a balance at the moment

Just like in the first test, Root was the difference.

Umpire's decisions have been actually pretty good in this series.

The third ump made two howlers in India’s innings. Which calls into question the point of the third ump if he doesn’t know the Laws.

Won’t make a difference to the match - I think Rohit had already won it - but it’s annoying to watch.

This is an enjoyable partnership from Pope and Foakes thus far. Skilful, sensible and aesthetically pleasing batting against quality bowling.

As a cricket fan whose used to watching quality Test cricket on high quality prepared test wickets in England, this wicket for me falls in to the substandard category.

Life is Alhamdolillah normal. Ya would love to see Indians get defeated on pitches that provide balance between bat and ball

3rd umpire has been poor, but the onfield has been mostly fine.
