Curran bowled pretty well in this spell in comparison to what he has shown in the series and now gets the prized wicket of Kohli.

Kohli gone. England bowling has looked great today
Eood and Curran have stepped up unlike the 1st innings.

Poor decision to waft at it.

India forcing a result in this with poor batting. Curran basically rolling his arm over.. gift of a wicket.

Anderson, Robinson and Curran. Three different bowlers but Kohli keeps getting out in the same way, behind the wicket, by poking at the ball

Kohli's scalp is no longer the prized one.

I thought he bowled awful mate.

Pujara made him look good.

Now Kohli gave his wicket due to awful technique.

Robinson has been breathing fire tho...

Kohli was very disciplined in the last series outside the off stump but this series, he has been fiddling with a lot of balls in that zone. Seems almost like he has reverted to his 2014 approach.

Threw his wicket away when he was looking in such good nick.

Rahane averages 19 in 9 tests he has played in the year while Pujara averages in mid 20s in last two years.

Big innings for these two and for their team.

Tendulkar was gracious enough to give up his captaincy when he couldn't bring the results.

Would Kohli resign from his leadership role given his extended slump..

Poor batting by India, in pretty good batting conditions with sun out.

Bowling has been good but nothing extraordinary....both Kohli and Rohit played poor shots to get out.

Gutted with that wicket..just 5 mins before lunch. He was looking so good today.

Ooooft that rap on the pads looked close.

Robinson's action forcing it down leg IMO.

Robinson has been breathing fire tho...

His lines were good and lengths were decent as well. Got the ball to move a bit into the pads and as well as away from over the wicket.

Why do you think he was awful?

Averaging 26 in his last ten tests. Class is permanent though.

India 28-3.
My gut feeling is that he won't be anywhere near those heady days he saw 3-4 years back.

He may still score runs as he is a class act but looks past it, totally.

Not looking good for India now. Onus on Pujara and Rahane to bat as selfishly as they want to however make useful contributions.

Now look like india will be all out under 150 . pathetic display of batting yet again

England’s seam bowling has been outstanding. Wood taking out the in-form openers and then the biggest wicket of all for the unfancied Curran. Anderson and Robinson also bowling great lines and got very close lbw shouts in. Massive uphill task for India here.

India 56-3 (Pujara 3, Rahane 1) – LEAD BY 29

Wonder if one of either Mayank or Shaw or SKY find their way into the team in the third test..

Can't continue with a middle order that averages under 25 for 2 years.

Why do you think he was awful?

He bowled mostly to Pujara who is honestly batting worse than a tailender.

Missed out so many scoring opportunities.

His bowling lacked any bite.

He bowled good lines but many of the shots went straight to the fielder.

Wood and Robinson were great.

Robinson and Anderson almost got Kohli multiple times due to his pokes.

pathetic shots from rohit and vk
we've left a golden oppurtunity slip
i cant see us holding beyond tea
these two are duds, and too much to do for jads and rishabh
our last four are flaky halwas
all i can see is a massive upheaval in indian cricket once this tour is over
tbh, the history of indian cricket is always a series of massive downs after every massive unexpected wins...
very happy to be proven wrong...

Robbinson throughout this summer has been impressive and possibly the pick of the bowers alongside Anderson for Eng.

Curran is late 120s, early 130 kph bowler so he is not going to offer much zip/ bite unless the pitch offers much pace and he gets some zip through the seam.

He is a swing bowler and that is his strength and with the mentioned limitations the best thing he can do is just to ball in nice areas with the bit of movement and that is what he did today I think which was better from last innings and match where he was all over the radar.

It was not really a poor display of batting from India but loss of concentration and greediness at wrong time costing all three wickets.

All three of them were looking good till the time they were but got out cheaply.

England comfortably ahead in the game.

India digging a hole for themselves and in trouble.

Some poor cricket.

Virat has been poking at at the 6th stump too casually. Not Test class batting in this series :-(
Sad
Expected much more from him

So india has to now depend on 2 batsmen who have not done anything in the last 15 Tests..

Problem is that both batsman will not score much runs so india not going anywhere .

Rahane missing easy boundary here .he is in serious under pressure to perform .

We're really up against it now.

The discount Dravids have to save us.

Indians crying when they lose their top 3 just like Pakistan when they lose their middle 3 - Babar, Fawad and Rizwan.

Pant and Jadeja would save India - Counter attacking cricket is what they will be playing and England would be left to chase around 220 in 60 overs.

Maybe relieve him of the captaincy? He might just need a break, give him time to work on his batting.

Pujara-Rahane have scored a combined 9 runs from 84 balls. The Walls.

He is too egoistic, greedy and arrogant to relinquish the captaincy on his own, too much moolah riding on him. And BCCI is too timid to do that to him.

So there you go.

Run rate is now less than 2. Yes Eng is bowling well but, I think the intent from Indian batsmen could be better. As you need to keep on adding to scoreboard as well to shift the pressure and momentum.

Tendulkar was gracious enough to give up his captaincy when he couldn't bring the results.

Would Kohli resign from his leadership role given his extended slump..

But didn't he say that he was proud of his achievements as captain or something to that effect?

Pujara will bat his skin out today. But I am afraid it may still not be enough.

This is brilliant. How do you come up with such gems? :inti

No wickets for England in the first half hour of the second session but India are going nowhere. They have added just eight runs since lunch.

Not sure if it will happen but, Moen Ali here could be interesting as Pujara is struggling to get the scoreboard going so he will fancy going after Ali probably on the first sight.

Just saw the replay of VK's dismissal

What a pathetic halwa of a delivery that he could have left alone or smoked it....
am sure he must be kicking himself or seriously considering injuring himself....or his team mates would do it for him....
but any ways, he is going the 2014 route....still has time to correct himself....and i am confident he will be back and with big runs...

DK was presenting analysis in the comm box that how he used to play drives on fuller length balls and that has gone missing for him in recent times. Global SR on the fuller/half volley range is 75 but, Pujara’s in 44 now.

It seems Curran wanted to celebrate like Imran Tahir. :inti

India playing for the draw already? What kind of innings is this from Pujara?

With the current run rate which is less than 2, unless something extreme happens there might be only two results possible here by the end of day.

This is what happens when two really mediocre batsman are batting together, playing out of their skin for saving the place but still scoreboard not going anywhere.

India did well last time around in Australia to drop some extremely timid cricketers and hacks but this time again they have to take that big call and ultimately result will start coming.
