Not sure Kohli is available for next test. Jadeja is mostly out of series. KL is injured so is shami .
Shami with reverse would have troubled Eng a lot. Eng is lucky to not have so many main players from India not playing. Eng missed a trick here , still not out of this game but looking difficult now.

Ok, let India declare with a lead of 301 then. Put your words into action. (but of course you r not part of Indian team management)
Need 350+ or 400 but don't think india will get there

Lunch on Day 3. India will accept this scorecard. Not bad for them.

Rajkot is again another flat track. India should go with :-

Rohit(c)
Jaiswal
Gill
Kohli
KL
Sundar
Axar
Ashwin
Bharat(wkt)
Kuldeep
Bumrah

Batting depth is useful to have.

Why bharat need to go with dhruv jurel

Joe Root came out after lunch but is back off the field again, with England providing an update over his fitness:

The statement said: "Joe Root sustained an external blow to his right little finger, attempting a slip catch in the first session of day three.

"The England medical team will keep him off the field for the time being to treat and ice. At this stage, there is no indication of when he will return to the field."

Yes shami is badly missed by india . Both Siraj or Mukesh Kumar are nowhere near shami level. Umesh Yadav is still better option than Mukesh Kumar

He is not going anywhere for next decade . He is such a class player just going through lean patch
His test career not that good at the moment only good in odi he is classy player No doubt about it

No Indian No.3 has scored a 100 in India since 2017 (Pujara)

flat deck , basically Bumrah magic put the game where it is ... 327/4

Batting against spin is an art which batters of current generation seem to have forgotten

Batters of today lack skill and this results in all those poor pitch reports. Current English spinners would have been treated like buffet bowlers by the past Indian batsmen. Just imagine any of these spinners daring to open the bowling with Sehwag/Gambhir opening the batting.

This is such a poor bowling unit from England. Credit to Stokes captaincy for making things happen just with strategic field sets even with this bowling unit. It illustrates good captains can make ordinary bowling look better than it is. India has no business to lose any wicket to any of their spinners. But they did in this series so far.

Even Murali vijay eat them alive

This is the first test match in 13 years when both Kohli and Jadeja aren't playing a home test.

He has been bad since 2019. 2018 Australia tour was his career's best performance, probably the biggest achievement of his career.
That tour was an exception rather than a norm.

Lol, Murali Karthik is crediting Stokes for this dismissal. That was just a usual bowling change, nothing more nothing less

Walking wicket at the crease now. Bharat :p

Hope he scores a 50 and lengthens his career :tahir2

That tour was an exception rather than a norm.

No, he was good at that time. He had a hundred in England 2018 as well. Post that Australia series, he was past his best and rarely scored. The decline was inevitable given how hard he had to battle it out for hitting even two fifties in that Australian tour 2020-21.

Change in field tempted Gill to go for that stroke
Gill doesn't play reverse sweep so it was his own fault for getting dismissed on that stroke rather than brilliance from Stokes.

Why is commentators are praising Stokes for gill dismissal?? He was out bcz stupid shot lol

Despite that 100, he averaged 38 in 2018. So the rot was set in 2018 itself.

I would not use the word brilliance. But a hole in that side in the field tempted Gill into that stroke.. so credit should be given to the captain for that field change even if he didnt count on Gill trying to reverse.

Bad to worse for England?

Where's Joe Root?

Even though England is probably going to lose this Test, it looks like they will take 20 wickets in both the opening Tests, which with a very ordinary bowling unit (apart from Anderson) is some achievement in India. Stokes captaincy is superb.

True.

Indian posters will refuse to give Stokes credit for anything, but its true that Stokes is always alert and keeps trying different tactics to try and eke out a wicket from his ordinary spinners.

Stokes currently has his mid on up the field and is tempting Axar to go over the top.

Why did Axar go back to that ball which was pitched up, what was the reason?

I think most of the Indian posters have been extremely reasonable in this series so far.

Will India declare soon? Guess 450+ is what they are looking for a target

Just seen the Patel lbw, Lol how did that need a review? Very poor umpiring

Bharat is just shamelessly defending for his career 2(22)* HIs future depends on this innings

I like how Hartley is bowling wicket to wicket, with mid off and mid onn within the circle and almost all fielders inside the circle.

Expecting Bharat, who is nervously batting for career, to score quick runs might be too much to ask. So probably India might probably bat for 20 overs and declare.

Cause of that stupid shot was a result of a change. Just because field is changed that doesn't mean bastmen have to change too. But inexperienced players easily fall prey to such moves. Stokes has understood that logic. He has got wickets purely with strategy rather than good bowling. All 3 spinners are downright mediocre spinners. Look what he has done with them.

Lead of 370 till now, still 7 sessions of play left. India will think that they are pretty much up now.

The only interesting thing for me this innings is to watch Bharat play for his life (career). Will he dead bat defend and hope to bat as long as possible or will he go all guns blazing..

Will he continue to hold on to that wicketkeeper slot or will he give up and leave?

The next session decided Bharat's future.. :stokes
