India lead England by 171 runs with 7 wickets in hand at stumps on Day 3 of the 4th Test at the Oval

Mathematically his innings has wiped off the deficit.
 
Rohit will be hugely relieved getting this monkey off his back.

yep, fair call, its defo easier for batting out there
thought its getting cloudy and floodlights are on
mo is getting a few to turn
what i'd do differently is get overton and robinson to bowl round the wicket into the body of esp Rohit, keep a short leg and two at the fence.
knowing what a compulsive hooker he is is, am surprised Eng didnt go that route.
I'd also keep mid on dn mid off up and get woakes to bowl the odd slower one.
other than that, i guess they've tried all they can, its brilliant batting from our guys for sure

Sure but IND need not worry about that yet. 150+ lead will already get ENG regretting their decision / lack of lead and be down in terms of morale.

Oval is the place to do this too.

Nah, Pitch is easy to bat now. If it stays this way 200 is pretty easy to chase for Eng with the long batting lineup.

Pitch is incredibly easy now, admittedly it is the Oval. But that’s not the reason. ENG made the decision to bowl first (not necessarily wrong) and then ENG failed to nail the advantage when they were in position to do.

They are unlikely to play the ball on its merit in the 4th innings and more likely to cave in mentally. Anything above 150 and I think IND should breathe easier. ENG more likely to implode and collapse mentally.

I will put 90% chance for Eng win if lead is only around 150.
 
The new ball can bring a couple of wickets, and if Eng can keep it below 250 then pretty good chance to win here.

There is a very high chance that this session could be series defining session for both the teams. Whoever goes 2-1 to Old Trafford has a big advantage.

The draw also cannot be completely counted out. This pitch has flattened out completely.
 
India has a Better bowling attack for this pitch. Bhumra and Yadav can both hit 90 mph.

England has been badly exposed outside their comfort zone

Not going to happen. England is terrible under pressure and cannot deal with the pressure of batting last. We also saw what happened in the second test on day 5.

India has exceeded expectations in these conditions and have handed it to England in their background

There are close to 7 sessions remaining in this test. Draw looks a very distinct possibility.
 
What target had NZ given England, where they had somehow managed to eke out a draw instead of going for the win ?
 
It's been a while since we had this kind of long batting innings.
 
So moeen and root from both ends - double spin attack
Eng want these 6 overs out ASAP and are banking on jim and robinson with the new ball
im just worried about hitman getting ahead of himself, going for something spectacular and exposing virat to the new ball.
Our collapses have been so frequent in recent days that its like watching the same movie over again
