Dan: "Definite lull after Storm Sehwag. Now if only we can nip out a couple more before the break. Give Dhoni & co something to mull over their lunch."

NZ's pace attack looks very good with the likes of Boult, Bracewell, and Southee. More often than not they will make life difficult for batters around the world in helpful conditions. Even here in India so far they looked much much better than our senior paceman and his junior apprentice.

Out of form Tendulkar at the crease now. One more wicket and this game is even.

Yet another flop from Gambhir in a test match. Poor technique against pace bowling especially balls bowled outside off stump has been his achiles heel for quite some time now. We gotta blood some one new for the opening slot sooner rather than later.

I hope sehwag realizes how much impact he has...and how much he destabilizes the bowling and starts playing responsibly for the team..

What happened to Ajinkya Rahane? And why is Sehwag opening?

Alright , this was the pair that took us through to the target last time when Aus played at Bangalore. C'mon Guys its just NZ after all.

What.s sweet about Gambhir's dismissal was how qucikly Sunny G was made to shut his mouth in the commbox. Hate this bugger's one sided biased commentary(despite myself being an Indian) more than even Ravi the autobot.

to be fair,he was looking better this time, just got choked by NZ bowlers

Another wicket before lunch - preferable the over the hill Sach - and we're right back in it bigstyle.

Rahane warming the benches,Sehwag opening bcoz its India where match is happening

I hope he realizes that he's become a useless asset in the sub-continent as well.

Some serious decline of Sehwag and Sach in your line-up. They need to leave.

Bring in Rahane and R. Sharma as replacements.

Whom does Sehwag displace from the middle order? No point talking about it. Drop one of the two openers and bring Rahane. The guy will forever warm the bench if we do not take bold decisions.

Any suitable replacements for Sachin in the horizon? I mean Kohli has already replaced Sachin I think but any other youngster to fill Sachin's void?

agree about Rahane, not sure about Sharma

S Raina. No way should such a hack be playing test cricket anyway.

Unfortunately, our selectors and especially captain seems to be fast becoming more n more conservatives in their approach. This is refelcting on our defeats over the last year or so. So either Gambhir or sehwag being replaced by someone like Rahane who is yet to get full fledged opportunity at the highest level seems a far fetched one.

I wish our team has players who gets selected on current form and merit more than seniority or past reputation(closeness to captain/selectors does help them).

Kohli will be no. 4

Sehwag will come down to add experiance to middle order

Tiwari/Rohit will be in

Rahane will open...

this is pretty much what will happen in the future...

Although he doesnt inspire confidence he is at least scoring decently. After our recent debacle overseas , the guy put the hard work in domestic cricket even getting a double , so its not a totally undeserved selection . Plus it will be a step backward replacing him with Sehwag.

Interestingly poised at lunch but still in favour of India atm

I literally cannot see Sachin facing Steyn/philander and co in 2013 in SA......

I can envision even Morkel ripping his ageing technique apart.

But SA 2013 is a long way away. Has he mentioned in interviews that he wants to be part of that tour?

If a 43 year old Tendulkar, Sehwag and Z Khan are going to be touring South Africa it's a massive step back IMO.

Boult has looked the best of the seamers here. Now Rosco's task is to not overbowl him. Mix it up nicely with Bracewell who's a comfortable second best.

Same feelings here. His hand-eye-feet coordination is getting worse eith each passed innings. He is nowhere near being even half the batsmen that he was a year or two before. Similarly, can't see Gambhir surviving against SA attack. Too many question marks over our senior batters. Time for experiement is now, hope new chairman of selector Roger Binny(chaddi-buddy of incompetent nincompoop cheekah) makes some brave decisions in the upcoming months(wishful thinking from me).

True..but the last sentence....sehwag/zaheer will be 33/34 i think...sachin will be 40 though ...although all look the same age...some might think sachin is youngest of the 3 by the looks of it

End of the day this pitch could be a minefield. Gotta keep them out there for as long as possible.
Kohli and Pujara the only class bats left.

Dhoni and Ashwin will hurt as well if they get a chance I think

Gambhir is different....If Dada could turn his test career at 35....I am hoping Gambhir can as he is just 30...and he was not in such a horrible form as dada was in either...and is definately a better test bat too

however Sehwag, he is making those great looking 30/40...which is even more fustrating. today..he basically got out playing a very very unnecessary shot...and he always does that...previously in tests he used to wait for shots he could hit.,.hence a great test career..now he is heaving at everything...

Refreshing to see many people here acknowledging Sachin's batting going south. If only the severely biased commies remove their rose tinted glasses and bring up this topic. And 2013 is a far fetched discussion. Save it for later.

Marshland: Do you think this is the end for Martin with young pacers coming through?

Ah yeah the Indian commies are terrible....they just circle jerk their bats. And Doully and McMillan just kiss up to them - it's hilarious. Must be something to do with IPL commentary contracts and the like....can't imagine Smithy being the same.

Had a great tour in 2010-11, did he not?

TBH, since last year England tour his form has been in constant decline. his confidence against balls bowled outside offstump is just very poor. This SA attack will be even more lethal(addition of philander) than the one he faced in 2010 tour. I seriously can't see him egt any better in test cricket with his current technique and form.

Southee-Bracewell-Boult looks pretty solid to me, so I'd say yes. I'll give him one of the two SL tests just to make sure he is really over ths hill. Can't expect him to derive much from those conditions in any case.

Adam Milne is also around on the horizon.

I thought Gavaskar did chatted about Sachins reflexes, foot movement and age when he was cleaned in the first inning.

So the angry dwarf out again trying to run the ball to third man.

Reminds me of a quote from The Greek in The Wire "Lambs go to slaughter, a man he learns to walk away...."

Oh did he? I was watching the match from the ground and did not have access to his commentary. Let us see how they handle it today.
Ganguly is already worried about too many balls hitting his pad.

The Gambit's technique reminds me of Tim McIntosh - who was another bloke who had no idea where his off stump was.

With this bad technique so deeply ingrained , i can never see him playing long innings in the future , a trait he once had. ( Saved a test in NZ )

Yes, His observation was that Sachins foot movement wasnt up there anymore. He was of the view that age may be catching up.

Not to worry , we still have VVS ashwin.

I would not be surprised if it does come to a stage where Ashwin has to win this game for us with his batting. But I just wish that Pujara and Kohli et all does not leave the game to such scenario (just can't forget the drawn WI test which we could have won had Ashwin been little pro-active in his running).

I wouldn't want it coming down to Ashwin as well , but cricket always has that perennial twist in the tale.
