maybe a little feel good factor for the bowlers for something to bowl at???

i agree that our team is not tough mentally but even then we have this problem that people take things a granted like Akmal,Sami and Kaneria ,Faisal Iqbal,Butt ,Hameed
we need to give chance to youngesters so that there is competition for the place
we have talent but it is wasted due to favouritism
 
Unless we can keep India to a lead of less than 100 we will lose this test

Unlike our 'proper' batsman, Sami has been known to value his wicket, if he can just face the odd delivery per over with Misbah taking most the strike, 200 is a possibility
 
misbah is doing well at keeping the strike but he needs to understand that there is no point in tuk tuk tukking it around for 1 an over. He is a set batsman and he is our only hope now if we want to get to 200.
 
i think barry richards is an idiot. thers nothing wrong with the batsmen returning the ball to the fielding side.. kamran akmal did it, next ball he hit a boundary.. it makes no difference.

yeah, a few more shots would be nice. but i would be happy if these two can go on like this for a while
 
Yardley is being a little over critical of Misbah here. Sami isn't looking like he can play 4 or 5 deliveries per over on a consistent basis. Misbah has to farm the strike.

yardley doesnt know what he is talking about half the time. He was comparing Dhoni to gilly once.

You know the reason I have been praising Misbah from the 20/20 days is because of what he is doing right now, he is a rock solid batsman in these situations, somehow his best comes out in these crucial stages of the game, did not take a single on the last ball in the previous over, now that's confidence, lot of players shy away from these situations. Today he has proved that he is a player in test cricket as well.

he will have to stop going at 1 per over if he wants to do that!
 
A few boundaries or even half a dozen would be nice now!

but the problem is he is allowing this tension to build inside himself. Watch him play a rash shot now when there is no need for it.

I think indians r happy with this as the more time pak team will play the more pitch is going to ease out as expected to be easy to play on day 2 and 3.

we need 200. If we get there it will be a good psychological mark plus gives our bowlers a bit of breathing space. To win this test we need to keep India's first innings lead down to less than 100.

To be honest I can see a lot of overs being lost in this test due to bad light.

Wonderful, from the test cricket point of view and of course the situation he is in right now, I understand that he went little excessive with his tuk tuk, and drove some of you guys crazy, but c'mon it is his first test against india, you should give the guy credit for playing that many balls and not making any mistakes, consider the other factors, it is his first test match against India, and it is being played in india, and 8 of his players are gone and have left him in a disastrous situation, think about the pressure he is feeling right now, yet he is there, taking singles on 5 or 6th ball of every over, not making any mistakes. The following comments are not towards you, but some of our fellow members are expecting too much from him, and that is simply absurd, given the situation he is in right now.

Both Sami and Misbah have played very patiently ... Exactly what was required in the situation that Pak were put in thanks to some ordinary batting by the top order ...

We need to pick up the remaining two wickets soon here :( Anything over 200, 220 can hurt the morale badly ...

At Eden Gardens, we had a certain Wasim Akram, and yes, Saqi in addition to Shoaib Akhter.

Winning first innings score here is atleast 400. Lets hope Sami and Misbah can add another 200 and 20 odd!

Amir Sohail is the greatest "after the fact" commentator ever.
When it comes to hindsight, his vision is 20-20, maybe even better. :12:

yes we should have batted first and let India score 600-4 declared.
We did well to bat first, only we couldnt bat well. Lets hope Sami and Misbah can compensate for that.

P.S. Sami is looking dangerous now! Two fours (one leg bye but who cares?)
