Boring? Its day 1 and its runs galore! hows that boring!

No wickets, no turn, no fun in the game

Compare this against Pak vs NZ, its got runs and wickets and an even contest against bat and ball

The ball did actually seam early on. Sehwag was playing the waiting game early on unable to play his shots, and was even dropped in the first over while he was yet to open his account.

I had to switch off for a few mins. Has India passed 600 yet?

Rubbish match, rubbish Indian pitch as usual.

You can see by Dhoni's comments about match being over in 2 hours if there is anything in the wicket how scared they are of producing a wicket with assistance for the bowler.

Pak/NZ was really good to watch, this is not. But it is of interest for 2 reasons:

1 Can India break the record for the most runs on the first day? I think the record is 450ish.

2 Nice to see Sri Lankan pretensions about being up there with the other teams torn apart by the fact they cannot compete away from home pitches.

Ooobama! this is ridiculous! Why on earth you pick 3 spinners... they've put all the thought in to 'how to bowl in the final day'... what dumb idiots! They'd be playing for a draw from tomorrow morning the way things are going.

But this being the BCCIland, its looks like another 'all-you-can-score' flat track.

500 is definitely on today for India and agree with your comments. As for Sri Lanka, they are lacking pace big time in this match but, if you bowling on feather-beds with no results likely, you are bound to see Sangakarra mix it up and bring 3 spinners in today

Thursday. Going to be a spicy pitch from reports. Reports better be right.

It's the Gabba in spring mate, it's gotta be spicy. How have the Pura Cup matches there been? Are they using the same strip or a different one?

Once again placid pitch = boring draw. Expecting nothing more out of this match. India 356 with only one wicket down. Won't declare till something like 800 - 900 ( if possible I doubt it though ).

I reckon India will go for 1000

Not so many Shield games (no more calling it the Pura Cup woohoo) but in any event Qld are playing very young bowlers so hard to tell.

It is a different strip anyway, we will hear all about it tomorrow in the paper I would say.

Anyone know what the most test runs in a single day is?

According to RA it's 508 or something by SL on the 2nd day vs Bangladesh in 2002. There have been more total runs scored by 2 teams, but I think that's the most by one team. Most runs on the first day is 494 by Australia vs South Africa in 1910.

Dravid on his way to his ton too, on 57. I want the entire Indian top 6 to all get tons. That would be funny!

Ghambir gone to a great C&B - Murali

Lara's record is safe for now...

but Yuvi's 38 will still be the most significant performance.

tried to watch but was very boring.
Pakistan test was way better, didnt miss one ball.

I reckon Dravid will score 150 and Tendy will score 300. Any takers?

Has to been one of the worst matches ever! What's the point of watching this match? I never watch test-matches played at the subcontinent, unless Pakistan is playing.

India will surely declare at least an hour and a half before the end of the day's play tomorrow. The strategy would be to score a minimum of at least another 200/250 runs, and then declare.

To be honest, I'm more excited about the ongoing Pakistan vs New Zealand test match. Also looking forward to Australia vs West Indies Test series.

These sick pitches are ruining what should have been a GREAT contest between India and SL. Pakistan-NZ is interesting because they're playing on a sporting track. There is something there for the fast bowlers, Ajmal is getting turn and the batsman can make runs if they play well.

Nice to finally hear Pakistan associated with 'sporting wickets' albeit it is in NZ.

But, the current series between Sri Lanka and India does make you wonder, what the curators are intending to gain from these pitches?

Where is the ICC? Why are they not conducting their 'sub-standard pitch analysis'?

Yeah, ICC should definately have an investigation. After all the fuss made about the pitch in Ahmedabad, they actually manage to make one even worse? Doesn't make sense at all!

No one can gain anything from this pitch, I just watched the highlights and it made me sick. What a contrast between this match and the one in NZ!

Everything is better in NZ, the grass and the outfield with those squares, the pitch, even the stumps! I like when they have "wood-coloured" stumps. Yellow stumps in Test? Disgusting.

Ok you cannot make sporting wickets, than at least make them spinning.
Now how difficult is that?

Maybe because they fear the SL spinners. Anyway, this pitch is a tragedy. I like Test cricket more than ODI and T20, but I would actually prefer a T20 match over this one.

What a meathead Sanga is? Even having to bowl at the deadest pitch in the world is not an excuse for letting them score over 400 for just 2 wickets in the opening day. He should have set a 9-1 offside field and made the bowlers bowl wide of the off stump like Dhoni does.

Forget gamesmanship... its a dead pitch!!!

Now all BCCI team has to do is to bat the whole day tomorrow, get 800 and make SL bat for the remainder. Sanga's 3 spinners could probably could kill time by riding pedalos in river Ganga.

But still nobody can't hide the fact that its a dead pitch. I'd like to suggest few changes to the game when having to deal with such tracks.

1) Allow teams to pick the starting XI after the toss.

2) No bouncer should be called a wide, allow 2 at any height per over...and allow a beamer each over...(yes a beamer! a freakin deliberate beamer!!)

3) After each days play the curator should be brought to the pitch and reward with Harbajan style slaps by 3 bowlers who were adjudged as the best triers of the day by an an independent adjudicator.

* I have not thought on how to judge a pitch as a dead track before the start of first days play yet... maybe somebody else could help me out here... ;-)

Another interesting match. I suspect India to declare at 700-5 and SL to be 23-2 end of tomorrow

Global warming is baking the pitches and making them flat.

Your much vaulted WACA has now become a desert road.

Garbage...No wonder IPL has killed test cricket in India. No one has time to watch these on flat dust tracks.

Pak - NZ game is great..Looking forward to Pak - Aus series also.

Yesterday Attendance was almost full . Though , I think it was because of Viru at the crease .

Mathews to Dravid, FOUR, survives! Kept low again as he tried to cut it past point, got a thick inside edge and it just evaded leg stump before rolling down the fine-leg boundary

the pitch is going to deteroite but the problem is it might be too slow to really matter.

DAMNNN IT!!!!! SRT IS OUT, MISSES OUT ON AN ANOTHER 100, DAMNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.. I have lost all interest in the match for the time being....... ARGHHHHHHHHH

Don't worry. There is 2nd innings and the whole two innings in the next test to go. I am sure, #44 and may be #45 can be realized.

^^ YEAHHH India still driving Indian_Blade out of his mind :D...

BTW congrats Mendis on his first 100 in India, well played and all the best hope you get many more :14: :14: .....

This is ridiculous. Is India going to break SL 700+ mark now. What's next 1000 runs?

two spinners can't bowl SL out in consecutive innings. follow on won't work.

Hopefully we will score 800 and declare, I would def bat out the entire day today and declare at lunch tommorow...Lets bake the Lankans :D...

Who cares about winning as long as 100s and 200s keep flowing - specially #44, #45, #46 ....

Damn you Tendy! I wanted all India's top six batsmen to score 100s. :(

In case anyone cares India are 4/542

Can you message me when they are at 1000? I would love for every other batsman left to score a 100. That would be SOO FUNNY!!!

its starting turn now with low bounce...hope the pitch demolishes by 4th morning

If ever a situation was tailor made for the YUVI it is now. 587 on the board, flat track and no pressure.

4/587 if anyone cares. Run rate has slowed appreciably though so 1000 is probably not on - although if I were Dhoni I would go for it.

What the hell was Axe doing ? scratched around & got out when he should have been having some fun......Great now we wont get that 800 run mark ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhh

OMG it's a collapse!! Herath the Destroyer gets MS FTB Dhoni for 4!

6/619 now, Sri Lanka into tail and right back in the game!

Come on boys we just need 4 wickets and 900 runs!

WTH why did Yemess only get 4? He should have gotten 200 on this wicket!

Harbadulkar out 295 short of his triple ton

149.4

Herath to Harbhajan Singh, OUT, actually turns in, a tweak of the fingers and gets it to move in off the pitch, Harbhajan, playing for the away spin, stretches forward to defend but it darts in through the gate to crash into the stumps, Dhoni, too, was gone in a similar fashion

Harbhajan Singh b Herath 5 (14b 0x4 0x6) SR: 35.71

Herath the Destroyer gets Harbadulkar. Too easy a pitch for the likes of Harbadulkar I think.

7/639 but the pitch is turning now. Looks like a very bad toss to lose for Sanga. Poor guy.

I reckon SL will get rolled for 200. This was a great "heads I win tails you lose" toss for MS to win.

Yup, 3 spinners bowling second on this wicket looks like a great idea.

Mendis nails the YUVI for 67.

8/641

People who say Test cricket is boring because the scoring is slow should take note of this match, the Indian run rate is 4.20 for the entire innings and nobody, not even the Indian fans care about this match.

I would have if SRT got his 100....
