No-one agreed with me that this series will end Dhoni's captaincy but, I am 100% sure that this will be the outcome

With that toothless attack and tired and fatigued batsmen, chasing a deficit over 150 will be a tough ask

Lankans (unless they get dismissed) could look to bat until an hr or so before lunch tomorrow. That's another 40 overs and a lead of over 200.

Other than Dhoni, the options for other candidates is very thin

Gambhir - relatively new
Yuvraj - Pined for the job but, could he handle the pressure
Sehwag - Already had a short unsuccessful stint
Harbhajan - Too much of a livewire for captaincy
 
India really need to get their attack sorted out. Amit Mishra going for 132 off 34 for no wickets. Harbhajan 141 off 3 with only one wicket. India needs some bowlers to compete with the top sides, not just batsmen.
 
Tendulkar's bowling is better than Bhajji....

He is more concerned about getting to a million runs in all three forms of the game before he retires.....giving him the captaincy will hinder that wonderful landmark

India should go completely left-field and appoint a fresh young new captain...maybe Murali Vijay or Ohja

Harbadulkar's bowling has gone downhill as fast as his batting has improved. Just too much cricket playing on flat tracks getting belted by FTB's wears you down....

SL 5/524 lead of 98 runs already. This game is slipping away from India. Although they do have Sehwag.

Why doesn't Dhoni just bowl himself on now. No harm in trying now. Or even Sehwag. He should try most of them before the day is finished.

Spin bowling traditionally has been our strength but since the retirement of Kumble, things seem to have changed. Kumble was a thinking bowler but Mishra-Bhajji just going thru the motions.

Bruce Yardley should just shut up, the Sri Lanka's are slowly choking the Indians by keeping them on the field as long as possible and getting a 300 + lead.

Pitches like these will kill test matches eventually, where the batsmen will go out to have a net session.

Those stats alone show that this pitch was created to ensure India DO NOT lose the match

Good to see SL batting superbly in India. If they put up another 150-200 in the first 2-3 hours tomorrow then we might get a result. SL should positively press for a win from here on. Indian batting is really strong to reply superbly but they can also have a bad day at office, can't they have?

anyway this pitch was as pathetic as ever ... wonder when these people will ever learn.

Thats why i prefer proper test grounds like mohali , mumbai , kotla , eden (play odis in grounds like these)

Another good day of cricket. Mahela hoping for 250 run lead. Dhoni himself will have to bowl to get early wickets and mess up Sri Lanka's plans

India has se7en genuine batsmen and any one can come good on their day. SL is in v.strong position if they press on from here. The only thing good for India is that their batting is super strong and they usually bat well in their own backyard.

I didn't see the game but it looks like defensive bowling and Sri Lankans just had to be patient and not make mistakes

We need to get a 400 lead here and grind India into the dust. If Mahela can get 300 and the other 4 wickets 100 we can break 1000 for the first innings and only bat once.
 
^ SL will still need five sessions to try and do that and time is running out. This is a draw.
Moving on to the next flat track.

Anything can happen for sure. If the wicket starts turning a lot on the 4th and 5th day, then there is always a chance of a batting collapse. Unlikely...but you never know.
 
SL have a good lead of 165. They will want to play for the 1st session atleast on Day 4
 
SL need to play like T20 and score quick 100 runs. They can win from here if they don't go beyond first session. May be before lunch.
 
This indian bowling has got to be the worst in world cricket.Anil kumble carried them for years and without him it looks mediocre at best.
