OMG was that a brain fart? surely not :O ............ only Umar Akmal does those right? :O

The  specialist of this entire forum is back.

Sir, Umar Akmal is a god gift to this mortal cricket world. He is the best. Now please spare us from the agony.

So, 119 in 29 overs miraculously sets a target of 178 in 26 overs? :))) What a joke.

Reminds me of the dhaandli scene during elections where one bloke clean swept one area.
Bhaiyon, halka haath to rakho :afridi

that guy is a big fan of Umar Akmal. He wants to bring Umar in discussion everytime batsmen like Kohli/bravo/chandimal get out.

I know. Being a fan is good, but that has turned into obsession now.

Oh Srilanka...I pity the players who has to play the world champions regularly and gets humiliated:(
They are not bad team but against India is asking too much

The rule is same for every team, I think rather than making a mockery of D/L method on a forum, one should rather google/wiki.

If they approach it like a T20, Lankans have firepower like Mendis, Kula and even Mahela and Sanga who can consolidate and score quickly. Lankans are favourites for me in this game.

Kula wasn't there but  how awry has my prediction gone. To be fair, Lankans were terrible. I mean, Farhat and Malik terrible.

the creators of Duckworth Lewis method should have gotten a nobel prize in maths or something, that thing must be beyond somebody like Einstein too.

They are just venting their frustration. India winning yet another game and also qualifying to finals. Its not easy to take for some of our pak friends. nothing wrong in that. its natural.

to be fair, 178 on this wicket is a huge target. If pitch condition was taken as part of the D/L calculation, target would be around 150. SL would have chased that target better. Obviously Indians benefited by D/L today. no doubt about that. We were lucky. Still Indians would have won the game today as they played with high intensity and they needed this win badly.

When did I imply that it was India's doing or anything?

Yeah cause pointing out a flawed system puts me against the Indian victory

The D/L has been bashed throughout, and will be continually bashed until some obvious errors are dealt with. Get off your high horse, the whole world doesn't revolve around India.

It will be fun if pitches stay like this for Pak-WI series. Pakistan will be benifitted as these surfaces negate WI batting and make the two batting units equal

:out
and people said that DL benefited the team batting 2nd more.

It generally does. Knowing the target time to time will always help, doesn't it. Today's case was entirely different. Anyway, another discussion for another day

Its not a flawed system if you think a little.

If anything DL favours the team batting second , even in todays case....sl got a easier target of 178 in 29 than probabaly 278 in 50 overs .

Lankans are really capable of getting all out in barely 25 overs! Wow

Are you sure we would have scored 278 on that wicket. Rohit was strugglign. IMHO today D/l helped us.

No, it still is flawed. It wasn't easier considering it was at more than 6 per over and their revised overs were 26.

I understand D/L is not perfect. but Pakistani fans crying here in this thread sounds more like sour grapes or someone who does not like India winning. not the ideal time for crying abotu D/L. It has never been fair to both teams. it would always help one of the two teams. It usually helps the team batting second, but this time it helped the team batting first because the pitch condition is different than usual.

We wer only 3 wickets down ...with one pp to go ....150 or more was always on the cards with our batting...but then we never know . If thr situation was reverse I would have gladly taken us chasing 178 in 29 0vers

If there was another instance of such a D/L scenario, am sure members would post none the less. Can't expect people to comment on something that's not happening is it?

But anyway, taking nothing away from India. Congrats on the win and treating us to another India - Lanka match. It seems like ages since the last one happened :')

we would have struggled to chase 178 on that wicket. You must have to see off the new ball. not easy to score runs. expecting batsmen to score over 6 per over on that wicket in 10 overs is too much to ask for despite of having all 10 wickets in hand.

Am sure we Sl would not be in our position if they had battes first....we batted exceptionally well

take every game that was affected by rain. it helped one team or other. if the pitch was a flat wicket today, you would not have complained. 178 on flat wicket is an easy target.

Ipl broSrilankan fans shame on your team

conspiricy theory is already out for this game. why did they thrash india last game, genious? they forgot about IPL then? selective amnesia?

I think people have been bashing the D/L method for as long as I can remember. The problem with D/L is that it does not take into account external variables such as pitch conditions, batsmen on strike etc. In the champions trophy, the Windies were slightly hard-done by against the Saffers in a close game. The D/L in a sense did aid India today because they only had to win by more than 10 runs for the bonus point which is a small margin. However, in the end that did not matter because it was such a convincing win. It has become completely irrelevant whether 178 was a fair target because they never even got close to it.

Also, I think people need to be less sensitive on here and more objective. The debate is not whether India deserved to win or not because they did. The debate is whether the D/L method aided India and whether the D/L method is an accurate method at all.

I don't think it's fair of posters to outright accuse people of sour grapes if they question the D/L method.

Let's hope we have a proper 50-50 over game for the finals. Enough of this rain hit matches and the equations deciding the outcome.

Such intellectual level.. Sigh.. Some people are truly 'blessed'

Well played India...
Bhuvi is the real thing....only bowler in the Indian team who can really ball well...very lethal with the new ball...

If there is one tam worthy of being called the World Champions.. it's India. They prove it here again by coming back from the dead.

:))

Another India vs Sri Lanka contest coming up.

Ya Allah madad.

Indians batted not knowing if rain was coming or not and for how long, with our batting if we were given a chance to bat 26 overs from the begining,180 could be achieved, lnaka had many advantages like knowing the target from the begining and many things, they couldn't handle our trundlers who has got teams under 170 thrice and now under 100 once in last 8 matches, credit where it's due
