Even if Australia give India a target of 500, they are not safe till Sehwag is out.

You need time to make the runs even on a perfect batting pitch. How many 500 run second innings chases have you seen in test cricket, let alone in 3 or 4 sessions.

It was an exaggeration of Sehwag's ability. Still he is too good.

Australia lead by 165 runs with 6 wickets remaining and 49 overs remaining..India needs to get them out today to get a result out of this game...may it be in Australia's favor

come on India. get Hussey out and the rest are village.

Ian Gould. Hussey's god father. 2 reprieves in two overs against Bhajji. And the dropped catch by Raina. Ugh.

North is absolutely pants. haven't seen many players make it into the Australian side in my lifetime that have been worse than him.

Harba gets Hussey LB when the ball pitches a mile outside leg stump.

poor decision. oh bad luck you Aussies.

but excuse me...

LOL

BCCI's mid-over threat to Gould works. Hussey ruled out off a ball pitching a few inches outside the leg stump.

Probably weren't saying that when he was carting us about in the last Ashes, Whippy.

if no umpiring decision goes against Aussies even from now on , Aussies have big chance but i m afraid umpires would favor india

I'm not daft. I know that Australia are essentially a million times better than England.

but I'm bitter. I never want Australia to win any match ever.

kind of like being a Leeds fan and hating Man Utd, which is also a position I hold.

just banter.

Arun Lal has finally met his soul mate in Brad Hogg. I have never heard 2 one sided commentary pair in action together in my whole life....................................

anyone else suspect that India's refusal to accept the UDRS is because they've got a better chance of winning without it? I feel the amount of marginal caught and LBW decisions that inevitably are created by their spinners (we see this is every India test) are more likely to go their way without UDRS.

spot on

India should win this from here! in Subcontinent it only takes one below par inns score and you tend to get into trouble!

Aus 165/5

great spell from Harby. just 4 more and we'll be chasing a very gettable target.

North is abysmal. hopefully the selectors keep faith with him for the winter tests :yk

Wrong.

Hussey was out thrice before but not given. So was North. If you're going to make a bold statement then provide us with some fodder to chew on.

OTOH, it's just plain wrong that we don't have UDRS being applied here. It's a shame that our players who suffered first hand in Sydney are being so reluctant in embracing it.

same here:ajmal

India (with England and Australia not far behind) must be the side that have taken more non-wickets than anyone. this is my honest opinion based on years of watching cricket. I'm not anti-India at all.

Bhajji's probably finished North's test career there. Punter will go with Smith in the next test.

On UDRS and umpriring, well with a UDRS in place, Dhoni would have been not out yesterday, katich would have been out 3 times before reaching 30 and Hussey and North once each without even reaching 5 runs!!

So in a way that has hurt us more than the opposition!! It's time we accepted the UDRS in whatever form it is available. And if we keep saying no to UDRS, we have got absolutely no rights to cry about bad umpriring for decisions going against us.

Lols at the "We" mate. Appreciate all the support we (the genuine ones) get here from non Indians as it is very rare :nehra

Infact, India, or for that matter all the subcontinental teams, usually suffer a LOT more than Australia or England when it comes to marginal calls. An empirical study will prove me right.

PS: Forgot to add that Katich was given a reprieve as well. That makes it 5 to1 AGAINST India in this innings alone. India benefiting? Think again!

I dunno how you can say that dude, after watching India for about 15 odd years with the crusade and just about every other umpires ruling in the oppositions favour, heck it got so comical that Moin Khan got away with the greatest bumped catch of all time in the famous 99 Chennai test vs Pak which we should have won..... I am all for the umpire review system unless ofcourse the 3rd umpire reviewing is a DHarmasena or any other patriotic Lankan....

That decision was already taken by the third umpire, so he would have been out anyway...
And that really looked out... Not to Arun Lal lol!

to be fair, I would like to see a study, although I'm sure putting one together would be obscenely difficult.

it's only because you're playing Australia...next summer I will be very happy if you don't score a run or take a wicket against us :yk

Lols...that is expected mate. Fair enough!:yk

I think we shouldnt complain about the UDRS because it was our (ok the BCCI's) decision not to use it. The Dhoni dismissal was doubtful but that is how the game goes so fair enough. You win some you lose some and unfortunately that decision didnt favor us.

But all in all that spiced up the match and I am enjoying every moment of it. Long live test cricket :)

Still Australia leading by nearly 200 runs if they can add 80+ more. It will be interesting game

wow as i wrote earlier...Indiain spinners causing issues...great chance for India to get them out below the lead of 250...India favorites from here

BTW where have those souls disappeared who were calling this a boring test match, dead/flat pitch? This has the makings of a classic test match.

this is hilarious. the sad thing is that the non-Australian 'WHOAMG OZZY STILL DA BEST TEAM EVA' fans don't seem to know that these kind of collapses - in this case 87/0 to 170/8 - have happened to Australia in numerous important games since 2005.

What happened there? The ball kissed the stumps, but the bails remained intact! Unlucky.

And its something which happens in every other innings for Australia

To be fair the Test looked like being very crap after the 1st day, good work by both teams in making it brilliant for the last three days.

5 missed chances and 16 byes across 2 innings for Dhoni...:akmal

India should win from here. Their batting is too strong. If Australia have any chance they need to get Sehwag early, and dispense of Dravid and Tendulkar in quick succession.

given the talent in the Indian batting lineup, there are bound to be a couple of half-centuries even if most of the team fail, and that will be enough to win.

Cricinfo's Madhusudhan: "In home games. Since 1990, India have won once and lost twice while chasing targets between 200 and 299. Both the losses came against Pakistan in 1999. The solitary win also came against Pakistan at Delhi in 2007."

Didn't India chase 300+ against England?

LEes if the last players can add 25 more runs, could be the difference.

Really don't want India to win, I hope they collapse chasing whatever they have to get. Australia need to win this from here. No better time for Hilfenhaus to repeat his heroics with the bat like he did against us a few months ago in England.

from cricinfo

My colleague Nitin says: "Zaheer is probably the best old red ball bowler in the world. His performances with the white ball have tailed off a bit, but boy - can he reverse them. That ball to Hauritz would have done Wasim Akram proud.

WHAT A JOKE

Cricinfo's commentary is really cringeworthy it seems like every delivery the word fab or great or fantastic has to be there and sometimes twice for one delivery.

Than again it is the almighty Zaheer '32.59 average' Khan bowling so maybe my bad.

:))) "would have done Wasim Akram proud"? No. It was a good delivery but not in the Wasim league at all, no way.

THIS is Wasim-esque.

I wouldn't expect North and Hauritz to bowl India out for 200. but if the odds of an Australian win were not so ridiculously narrow (5/2) I might have fancied a punt on them anyway.

Khan is the man to clean up the tail with the new or old ball. a very important bowler to have in a side for this reason among others.

Aamir is already miles better than Zak and he had barely started his career now I'm hoping he comes back quickly and quickly diminishes any thoughts of any other current left handed fast bowler being better than him which they are clearly not.

Gambhir and VVS injured, Sehwag and Dravid would come out to open.

2 hours of Sehwag's bating could seal the match for us but then he does not have a very good 2nd innings record.

216....would be an interesting chase...

sehwag and SRT will be the key....

India should win this from here.

Sehwag will look to finish this off as quickly as possible!
