Eng have won the toss.

Glad to see both our opening bowlers having an bowling avg. of 36+

England's match to win with Ishant and Mishra coming in. Rahul, Nair and Parthiv are also weak links / injury selections. As easy as it gets for a touring side with the toss win as well.

Wins the toss again. Beautiful conditions to bat. But can England win this time?

Lit of injuries for India
Jayant Yadav
Shikhar Dhawan
Ajinkya Rahane
Rohit Sharma
Wridhiman Saha

Half the team :))

Keaton Jennings sucks.

Shouldve had 0 0 1 in his first 3 innings.

It

Is it me or has England only gotten worse as the series has gone on...

India's catching has been dismal this series. Dropped Moeen on 0.

Mishraji with the relief act now bowling long hops and full.

Just bowl with Ashwin, Jadeja and Mishra through out the entire inning and England crumble under 175. Turning like no tomorrow, no need for fast bowlers.

So Kohli, Rahul, Ashwin, Mishra, Pujara, Jadeja, Sharma and Umesh are India B players ? Interesting.

I agree with Zak_Fan. Mohammad Shami takes India from a 'B' team like England to an 'A' team like Pakistan.

id say only Rahane is top class and hard to replacefrom this lot

Parthiv is the reason we didn't have a bigger margin of victory last match,Saha is what we are missing, also seeing Mishra bowl man we Miss Jayant.

Shami,Rahane,Saha,Jayant are ones we are missing but tbf English are missing Broad(who usually manages to injure himself from tough tours not his fault).

I feel South Asian bowlers don't understand DRS properly - Jadeja will NEVER get a reversal of LBW bowling over the wicket to lefti batsman. By the LBW rule it's near impossible, unless batsman misses a full-toss.

Nah man. Rahane is top class of course, and despite his failures would be in India would be in the XI.

Jayant Yadav is a very good 3rd spinner and has been a game changer in 2 matches with the bat. His replacement, Mishra, can either be really good with the ball or can bowl utter tripe. Nothing in the middle. Jayant has been getting some good breakthroughs. And Mishy is a decent tailender with the bat, but Jayant is a proper bat.

Saha is clearly a better keeper than the drop machine, thats is Parthiv Patel.

Happy that Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are not there

Broad is playing.

Eng has managed to comeback well in the test who would had thought Moen Ali would forge a partnership.

Whats this Anthony De Mello Trophy?

I thought they played for the Pataudi Trophy?

Anthony De Mello Trophy is named after BCCI founder of same name , its for England tour of India.

Pataudi Trophy is for India tour of England , Patuadi Sr. played for England in Bodyline series , later he became captain of Indian side.

Moeen Ali is such an good cricketer. Yet another important contribution.

Root's angry but I definitely heard a sound in real time and snicko confirmed it

I love watching Moeen bat, he's so casual and nonchalant it's an absolute pleasure to watch

I don't know why kohli keeps selecting Mishra in the test team when it's pretty clear that the guy is not test standard at all.
In odi's he's pretty good though.

Fortunately we negated him this series without any damage. He's a good utility player.

I hope we pick quick wickets post tea. 270/6 would be a good score at stumps for us.

In ODIs, he should be preferred over Ashwin/Jadeja.

Root blows yet another century chance. Hope the captaincy will improve his focus, like it did to Gooch. He is ten short of Vaughan's England record year aggregate.

Lots of pressure on Moeen to get a ton now.

I wonder how much of it comes down to his back problems making batting more uncomfortable the longer he stays out in the middle.

Root becomes the first player twice to score a 50 in all 5 Tests of a series - v India in 2014 and now.

Root's fifty is his 13th fifty of 2016, equalling the record for most 50+ scores in a year with Sehwag 2010 and Root 2015

England are comfortably in front, as expected.

They will win from here unless Kohli hits another double.

Love your enthusiasm even in such times :) What an A team performance by Pakistan. I am happy with my 36+ average pace bowlers :)

Pommie's will be putting on another 400 1st innings score for a losing cause:ashwin.

Oh Johnny, why did you throw it away?

Batted Moeen, keep going.

This shows once again that England need to get rid of some of these soft northerners and get more Brummies in the team.

This match is heading towards draw (too slow pitch and chances of rain also. Chennai wicket spices up only when there is extreme Sun/Heat). Mishra is also one of the reason (Now we can understand how Jayant was helping with those odd breakthroughs which helped Ashwin to run through) and Mishra is going to dent that lower order batting as well which is going to hurt. And Ishanth/Yadav cannot/should not play in same match! India should have rather gone for an extra batsman in that case

No matter the position England are in, they are expert in collapsing.

In BD they went from 100-0 to 167-10 in a session and TBH it was a decent wicket. Even in the last few matches, they have collapsed at times you wouldn't expect.

nah look at the other scorecard. Nothing Australian about this one. Great work by Moeen Bhai though to remain unbeaten.

I mean in appearance.

Chennai traditionally had red soil wickets like Mumbai. But the pitch was relaid with different soil and the white appearance of the pitch is due to the black clay found overseas (which apparently becomes white when it dries out). You usually see these pitches with a whitish tinge in Australia and England. Downside is the turn tends to be a bit slower and less prodigious while the upside is the bounce will be better.

Really needs a very big score here for there to be any consideration of him staying in the top 6 come the summer.

iDone. :ajmal

Now if India help him out and let him get a 200 tomorrow, he'll probably be considered for the next captain of England.

Root is 100% set to be the next Test captain and considering the fact that he's younger than Moeen and more likely to have a longer career, the latter's chances of captaining the Test team are non-existent.

However, he could be an interested choice to succeed Morgan in Limited Overs if ECB decides not to overburden Root, but he will have stiff competition from Buttler and Bairstow.

I was just kidding. I don't think Moeen has any captaincy experience at any level and even if he did, he isn't the sort of character to make a good leader. Very unassuming, soft spoken and nice. Very much like Hashim Amla in this regard and nice guys don't make good captains.

Moeen will not be skipper. But he has probably saved his spot. Jennings and Hameed will be nailed on against SA and Rashid has overtaken him as the main spinner so he needs consistent runs to stay in the side.

this Indian team do not give freebies. Thai to slog out tomorrow early morning.

So Eng have gotten 4 flat tracks out of 5 in this series. Tragic to not see any rank turner to be honest in such a long series.

India back in the game and seems to be ahead at this point with England 310-7..

Great knock from Moen Ali..Has a case to be called as the best English batsmen in this series.

The Indian pacers are bowling well on that deck, just bounced out Moeen by giving him a short ball barrage!
