India vs South Africa | 3rd T20 | Match abandoned

Apparently Edge Garden is going to be the venue of the final of WT20 next year.

They do not look professional at all. Just some random guys they picked from the streets. One guy wearing shoes and the other wearing Desi Hawaii chappal

Srilankan ground staff also wearing chappal, shorts, pajamas but they are efficient

Wasim Bhai is praising Eden Gardens groundstaff. Saying they are the best in business but the rain might have been too heavy earlier for a game

According to Cricinfo they never bothered to cover the whole ground when the showers came hence why the exterior portion remained so wet

Just one hour of rain which stopped 6 hours ago abandons the game.

Kolkata, you've disappointed a lot of people tonight.

Btw, AB's hair piece looks good, Kallis got him on board eventually.

Ridiculous stuff, poor management of ground, and looks like purposeful attempt to call off match and not get white washed...:afaq

Dhoni said during match presentation: "Would have opened with Rahane. Binny and Mishra would have played. Raina would have batted at 3. "

Great team effort to avoid a 3 zip whitewash. Rest of the countries need to learn from India and how they work together to avert defeat.

At this point he could have said Sachin will come out of retirement and open the innings with Ganguly with Dravid coming in at number 3 and it wouldn't have mattered.

Just playing to the media that he would have switched things around had the match gone ahead.

few weeks ago were talking about quality of cricket grounds in India and their comparison to other sports and countries and you said that India has state of the art grounds which are far ahead in terms of infrastructure and facilities than other countries. I was saying I find that unlikely and well this is an example why.
The weather isnt in control of authorities.

The last half of this series has been a farce. First the bottles and now the washout. Hopefully the ODIs are as good as the first half of the T20s.

Lol at blaming weather.

If it stops raining at any Major cricket ground in England like the Oval for example, Play can start probably within 1 hour. I remember this clearly being the case back in 2006.

It's 2015 so what's stopping this particular ground not having the drainage faculties to prepare for a heavy shower ?? Especially when you have a mega rich cricket board to back them.

Really wonder where the money is really going. It's not about just making money, it's about spending it for the right facilities and infrastructure as well.

So cute, nice try :najam. Answer him properly, he was referring to the quality of the ground staff, stadium authorities, their actions and preparations :kohli.
Thing is you have no idea about Eden Garden. The soil of bengal is such that the water doesnt drain well. Many times it has been tried by the authorities to somehow manage that but have been unsuccessful. The whole stadium outfield was relaid in 2011.But the experts had said that since the underlying soil isnt good for drainage ultimately it wouldnt matter.

Secondly the weatherman predicted a short passing shower at the most not heavy rain.

They should have covered the ground

Indian cricket has taken a total pounding this series. Their team got pounded, their crowd embarrassed the country in front of the whole world and now the groundsmen are just adding their share. Hilarious.

Then Eden Gardens is not fit for cricket and does not deserve to host the T20 WC final. What happens if it rains on the day of the final?

And the sheep who think Mr. Forbes is better than Ganguly ate it up. Talk is cheap, let's see if Dhoni actually starts being innovative.

Trust me when its coming from a skipper who has 3 ICC trophies under his belt...his words ought to be taken seriously. Here with 1 world cup win people make certain skippers immortal. :misbah

Don't forget to include those 2 IPL trophies with CSK from 2010 and 2011 :uakmal

Who decides what is fit for cricket? You?There are worse grounds regarding drainage in the world, likes the one in West Indies.

They covered the entire in field.Eden is not a small ground like some other Lankan ones where you can cover the entire ground in a jiffy.

Lankan grounds aren't that much small. Administration couldn't prepare a ground in 3-4 hours, surely somewhere problems are present.

These savages should be banned from hosting International Cricket.

What a disgrace.

Sri Lankan grounds are big, no 60 meter boundaries BS. Regardless of the size, groundsmen should have covered the entire ground, especially knowing that the ground has a very poor drainage system. Common sense.

I didn't know that world T-20 and ICC champions trophy existed in the 1980's....:yk
