Can India restore some pride in gardens and stop SA from doing a 3-0 whitewash?

Better to be humiliated now and get the changes done.

Still hard to not support an Indian win.

Well, tbh, Dhoni aint leaving.

The best we can expect is
1. Kohli opens
2. Dhawan is replaced by a youngster who bats at 5/6 - Gurkeerat, Samson etc (Though, it is a bit harsh on Dhawan)
3. Raina plays at 3
4. Dhoni plays at 4/5
5. Rayudu is replaced by Rahane at 4 or another youngster at 6
6. Jaddu back as a bowling all-rounder at 7
7. Bhuvi gets his swing back. Hs become a decent death bowler too, but his lack of swing is disconcerting (Good article -
8. Mishra/Yadav/Shami/Aaron - take 2 of the bowling spots

We need to win this guys. Cant recall last time India got whitewashed in bilaterals anywhere, let alone at home. Probably ODI series in Eng 2011 comes to mind but most of the games were D/L rules due to rain then.

Lets keep the Dhoni hate aside for a minute and support the team. A 3-0 loss will be very shameful.

Rayudu is the worst Indian batsman I've seen make it through the ranks since Dinesh Mongia or Ajay Ratra - and even they looked better than this guy!

Seriously Dhoni is blind!
What does he see in Rayudu?!!
Doesn't look international class at all!

Might be shameful but atleast it will make the selectors think twice about choosing jokers like Rayudu to play in the squad.

Just checked, last time India got whitewashed in bilaterals was in 1989 against WI in WI.

Dhoni should retire from T20. Dhawan, Rayudu, Should be kicked out of the team. Dare i say, the India A team that had beaten SouthAfrica in that T20 practice match, would beat this Indian Team for fun. This Indian team is a joke.

There is no acceleration when it comes to our batting. It only slows as the match progresses.

The tail is way too long. It starts with MSD. That A Team had some powerful hitters.

South Africa were already not playing a ful strenght XI and now that the series is already won I am sure they are going to give chances to the rest of the squad.

7.40 pm It appears we will have another inspection at 8.30 pm. Yes, confirmed by a BCCI tweet: "Despite the lack of rain of late, the umpires aren't happy. Inspection at 20:30 Local"

So looks like overs are going to be lost.

"Despite no rain for 3 hours and with 3 super soppers we can't have a 2 hour delayed match. I m not impressed and this can't be called world class"
strange

You can't blame the umpires if the outfield is wet.

The blame goes to the BCCi. Their fanboys who keep boasting about the billions they make, I ask you this. What is the point if the money they make is not being spent on adequate infrastructure like drains and water soakers on a historical ground such as Eden gardens ??

Really there is no excuse, maybe corruption is playing a big hand. It's bound to happen especially when a board is So power hungry that it does not even allow commentators to criticise it in any form.

Shame...Ground staff ruining Kolkata prestige.....they should learn from Srilankan ground staff

I have heard somewhere that Drainage in this ground is worse than any other grounds in India. So that is why it might be taking a lot of time.

Indians must be happy that this game gets delayed further now with if it does happen would most probably be a 12-15 over per side affair, or it would be better if it gets called off all together for them making it better than going down 3-0.

The less the overs, the more chances the inferior team has of winning. So India should be hoping that the match gets reduced to 10 or 12 overs a side.

8.35 pm No news as yet from the inspection. Please stay tuned. Umpires seem to be in deep discussion with Du Plessis. Latest news is that there will be another inspection at 9.30 pm.

Wow this is pathetic, might aswell call off the match.

just call of the match ffs.
No one wants to see a sham of a 5 over game

Eden Gardens looks like a shambles as they didn't bother to cover the entire ground on time knowing the weather predictions beforehand, as it is like they really wanted it to get the match shortened or called off.

This is going to get called off now any ways after the last inspection.

few weeks ago were talking about quality of cricket grounds in India and their comparison to other sports and countries and you said that India has state of the art grounds which are far ahead in terms of infrastructure and facilities than other countries. I was saying I find that unlikely and well this is an example why.

Never seen anything like this. The weather says 0% chance of rain in the evening. Last time it rained at 5.30 PM. They need 4 hours to dry the ground?

Another black mark for Indian cricket.

Rain stopped over 2 hours ago and still the outfield is wet. What kind of pathetic management is this. Absolute shambles.

Its hasn't rained for four hours and they still haven't gotten the game started? Is there bad light or something, otherwise even with poor facilities 4 hours should be enough to get the outfield ready.

Not 2 hours bro, i think more than 3 hours. And poor management seriously

The quality of the grounds and pitches in India is a shambles.

350 scores, bowlers taking 1-80 off 10 overs, batsmen hitting 150's is what they produce.

Bad light isn't the issue. Wet ground is the issue

Honestly thats the impression i get, no one seems to be too keen to get the game started.

That's pretty much what it's all about in this case as of it was tied at 1-1, we would've had a game started by now with the whole ground being covered from the start.

Most likely a 10 over hack fest. India needs to drop all of its vegetarians for this match.

Maybe India should look into playing matches in UAE :16:

Congratulations, with the match about be called off, all the indications are that you have avoided a "shameful" 3-0 whitewash.

Bengal Cricket association should hang their head in shame and apologize to the spectators who must have spent quite a lot of money on the travel arrangements.

Seriously man. Even poor cricketing boards will handle this better. Whoever is involved in it needs to be fired immediately.

Eden Gardens is supposed to be a historic stadium. Not some lame no name stadium where there is no one who takes care of the issues.

Lol just found out one of my friends had tickets for the match. he s ranting on facebook for past hour

I always thought India have the best management of grounds and all stuff, and to be honest i was very inspired. But recent incidents like Cuttack one, and today's is really disappointing.

Why does Eden Gardens end up with a T20 while places like Nagpur and Kanpur get tests?

Had it been an IPL match, things would have been different. Shameful stuff

Great week for Pakistanis. Indian crowd embarrass themselves, BCCI embarrass it self, Australia opts out of Bangladesh tour, RSA refuses to send their women's team to Bangladesh and Pakistan wins the series vs Zimbabwe.

Thanks for cancelling the game.

5 over game would have been a mockery of the game.

Looking forward to ODI series. T20s are irrelevant

Our ODI team is also a joke now. We are going to field the same team that played the T20's.

Dhoni is allergic to changes. We will play 5 mediocre bowlers and a paper thin batting lineup.
